Elton John AIDS Foundation's 11th Annual An Enduring Vision Benefit

NEW YORK, Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire --
Honorees: Robert Kraft, Diana Jenkins, and Joseph Blount
Special Guest Performer: The Legendary Stevie Nicks
Host: Emmy Award-winning Journalist Anderson Cooper

On Monday, October 15, 2012, the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) will present its 11th annual An Enduring Vision benefit at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Award-winning CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will host, and Founder Sir Elton John and Chairman David Furnish will pay tribute to several esteemed philanthropists by presenting EJAF's Enduring Vision Awards to long-time supporters Robert Kraft, Diana Jenkins, and Joseph Blount.

Bob Kraft has been a loyal and generous supporter of the Foundation for many years, both personally and through the Robert and Myra Kraft Family Foundation.

As Chairman, CEO, and Founder of Neuro, and as a private philanthropist, Diana Jenkins has been a wonderful patron of EJAF's work and events in the U.S. and in the U.K. Likewise, Joseph Blount has also been an ardent benefactor of the Foundation since its inception.

This year, Elton welcomes the incomparable Stevie Nicks as his special musical guest for An Enduring Vision. As a member of Fleetwood Mac, whose "Rumours" album was one of the biggest selling albums of all time, Stevie Nicks' extraordinary career includes multiple Grammy awards, numerous gold and platinum records, induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and unforgettable performances across the stages of the world for over three decades. Nicks, who has penned Fleetwood Mac classics including the timeless "Landslide," "Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman" and "Rhiannon," has had equal success as a solo artist beginning with her five times platinum debut "Bella Donna." With unforgettable songs such as "Edge of Seventeen" and "Stand Back," Stevie Nicks is unique among the pantheon of rock icons. Her new album, "In Your Dreams," was co-produced by former Eurhythmic Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard.

Nicks has been touring the last year and a half with her "In Your Dreams" Tour and has also appeared with Rod Stewart on the "Heart & Soul" Tour. The Gold Dust Woman is also completing work on a documentary on the making of "In Your Dreams," which will be released at the end of this year.

2012 marks the 20th year since the establishment of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The 2011 An Enduring Vision event raised $2 million, which helped EJAF continue serving as one of the leading grant makers addressing the HIV prevention and treatment needs of populations most at risk of HIV infection and most in need of EJAF's help because they exist at the margins of society.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish serve as the honorary chairs for An Enduring Vision, joined by their Co-Chairs Bill and Tani Austin, Alec Baldwin, Johnny and Edwina Barbis, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Steven A. and Alexandra M. Cohen, John Demsey, Andrew Farkas, Greg Gorman, Tim Hanlon, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness, Donna Karan, Leonard Lauder, Sandra Lee, Leslie Moonves, Martha Nelson, Ronald O. Perelman, Lily Safra, Ingrid Sischy and Sandra Brant, Harry and Laura Slatkin, Edward Walson, and Roger Woolsey, among others. Presenting Sponsors for the event are American Airlines, The Kraft Group, and Wells Fargo, and Co-Sponsors are The John R. Eckel Foundation, John and Cindy Fish, The Lauder Foundation - Leonard and Evelyn Lauder Foundation, Revlon, and the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

Did anyone else notice the part about the IYD Doc?? "...which will be released AT THE END OF THIS YEAR" !!!

Can't wait for the "In Your Dreams" Documentary. And I think it's cool she's doing all these benifit shows. She no doubt is getting paid, as she needs to help her solo band make as much as they can on the years they get to work with her. Since they make nothing when she's working with Fleetwood Mac.

Stevie fights AIDS. The gay community is especially thankful. ENOUGH people have died from this horrid disease. I look forward to the day when AIDS is a nightmare of the past - all the souls that have went because of it - God bless you.

Ho hum. This isn't the 1980's and AIDS, gays and Elton John aren't what they used to be. I'm sure Stevie will be terrific but let's not kid ourselves that this is courageous or cutting edge. It's a PR opportunity for a trouper with a big heart. Would much prefer new music from Fleetwood Mac. At this point I guess we should start thinking of a statue of Stevie in downtown Phoenix...

AIDS, gays, and Elton John aren't what they used to be??? Many $$$ are still needed for research and treatments for many. While progress has been made, there is still no cure. Anything Stevie can contribute to this cause is wonderful and shouldn't be minimized. I'm sure everyone involved is delighted to have her on board. She continues to have a heart of gold.

Although the AIDS epidemic isn't what it was in the 80's (thank God) - many people continue to suffer it's devastating effects. Elton has really contributed the last 20 years of his career to fighting for a cure. Along with his friends and the public, he has raised hundreds of millions of dollars and many people have been helped through his fight. President Clinton, through the Clinton Foundation, continues to do the same, along with The Gates Foundation and the National AIDS Foundation and many others. While Stevie has only moderately fought for AIDS victims (at least publicly) - she has taken a stance to join the fight, as has Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, Grace Slick, Celine Dion, and many other sirens of songs.

You may label this as a "publicity" stunt - and she certainly will get recognition for doing it, no doubt - this is probably far from her mind. I know Stevie has lost very close friends to AIDS, I have the tapes to prove it, so she is not out of touch with the world and the awful, unwarranted disease that is AIDS.

Fight on Stevie. We're all behind you in this.

I am working the "Celebration of Science" three day event in Washington DC this weekend and Stevie will sing one song Friday night at the Dinner event at the National Portrait Gallery and then sing four songs Saturday at the Gala event at the Kennedy Center. She was spotted last night having dinner with her assistant, hair and make up girl at a restaurant in Georgetown.

These fundraisers and the fundraising industry in general have a long, scandalous past of jets, fancy offices and executive perks that eat up a huge chunk of their tax-free revenue. "Non-profit" indeed. Preying on the good intentions of others while cloaking oneself in "nobility" is the opposite of virtuous. I'm not saying this with respect to Stevie, of course. Add in the inflated costs of health care and you've got yourself a big money pit. All of this is stated with great respect to illness and suffering and to the realities of AIDS.

By the way, as Americans we don't recognize British titles - sorry, "Sir" Elton...remember that little matter of the Revolutionary War?

"That's MS. John to you!" - signed, Sir Elton

Remember Bono's ONE organization became infamous a year or so ago because 1% was all that went to actually helping people. The rest was for propaganda to the PR industry to influence pubic opinion on a number of issues Sir Paul Hewson deemed worthy of mass psychological manipulation. Disgusting!!!! Don't waste your money on this shit!!! Help those around you.

Exactly. I've been living with HIV for years! Help your local organizations!! Although, Elton's tax records are on the website for viewing. He's worth $493 million and he has donated almost $100 million to AIDS
