STEVIE NICKS LIVE IN HOLMDEL, NJ
PNC BANK ARTS CENTER
JUNE 30, 2012

The show just finished in Holmdel and by all accounts, everything remained intact from opening night.  No changes to the setlist - the show opened with Rock & Roll.  From a band positioning perspective, it looks like Bass player Al Ortiz has re-positioned himself next to the piano on the piano riser right behind Carlos Rios.  Maybe someone can confirm whether or not he was there last night. From looking at some of the videos, it doesn't look like it. As for Stevie herself she only went half white for Edge of Seventeen keeping the layered black dress on with the white top.

A lot of really cool shots came through Twitter from the show most notably from uber fan Jeannie Kartis.  She kept it up all night sending a shot through for every tune until her phone battery died... But in the mean time she captured some really spectacular colourful shots.. Here's a number of them.

Check out Jeannie's feed on Twitter for more @jeannie_Kartis. Thank you Jeannie!... Taking and sending out photos to the world takes you away from your show experience, but we really appreciate you doing it!

NEW Stevie Nicks Merchandise.... PLUS Final Bow Photo - Jones Beach

New Merchandise!
A lot of you are interested in seeing what's new in merchandise this year... Well this kinda sums it up.  Some pretty unique looking items up for grabs... You have a choice between nine T-shirts, black Hoodies, Hats, Magnets plus the In Your Dreams CD.  I particularly like the shirts with a picture of Stevie's own drawing on the front and the one with her and the owl.

Get ready to spend!

Final Bow at Jones Beach
Noticeably absent from the band this year is Lenny Castro, so no percussion player!  Noticeably added to Stevie's band this year is Brett Tuggle (next to Waddy) taking the place of also noticeably absent Ricky Peterson who played Keyboards and has been with Stevie on her last few tours.  Brett was last seen backing up Lindsey in 2011 on his Seeds We Sow Tour... and when not on tour joins Waddy at The Joint in L.A. for some live gigs. Not shown is Al Ortiz... I'm assuming he's standing next to Darrell Smith on the far left.

The Band
Waddy Wachtel - Lead Guitar, Musical Director
Darrell Smith - Piano
Brett Tuggle - Keyboards, Guitar
Carlos Rios - Guitar
Al Ortiz - Bass
Jimmy Paxson - Drums
Lori Nicks - Background Vocals
Sharon Celani - Background Vocals
Steve Real - Vocal Coach

Recap / Setlist / Photos: Stevie Nicks Live at Jones Beach

Stevie Nicks Live in Wantagh, NY at Jones Beach Theatre June 29, 2012

Stevie kicked off her first public live performance of 2012 in Wantagh, NY at Jones Beach Theatre on Long Island. She opened the show with Rock & Roll which is a big change.  The song normally takes it's place as the second to last song in the encore set, so it's a nice change to see her open with it.  I like the fact that she comes out blasting with a rocker!  The audience is already excited to see her so a really rockin' tune or something up tempo just sends them over the top. Previous sets in the last few years have opened with either Stand Back or Fall From Grace.  Stevie came out in her typical trademark platform boots dressed in all black with a Feather Boa attached to her wrist.  She didn't appear to change from the black all night, only adding different pieces like the Gold Dust shawl, the Stand Back shawl and of course the Rhiannon top. At the end with Edge of Seventeen she pulled out the white.

The setlist tonight didn't deviate too much from what her setlist was last year except she shuffled around the tunes and made two additions with Rock & Roll and Enchanted, which hasn't been in the set for awhile. Steve Real was back for his duet with Stevie on Leather and Lace... I read and was told that once again Stevie charmed the audience with her humour. During her intro to Annabel Lee she again eluded to her affair with Edgar Allan Poe saying she was hanging with him back in the 1800's, he was married, but that never stopped her before.  It was also said that Stevie ended the night emotionally with Love Is with tears in her eyes thankful to and grateful for the enthusiastic audience.  Jones Beach has a great stage, so the Edge Walk was intact... Photos below.

Here's a run down of the songs in the set... Big thanks to @Steviessara on Twitter for a copy of the setlist. This was @Steviessara's first front row experience at a Stevie show, and she won the tickets to boot!  All in all saw a lot of positive responses to tonights show - which is great for Stevie and her first night back.  Next stop is Holmdel, NJ Saturday night where she'll be just as great!

Thanks to everyone that tweeted or sent me messages about the show.. It was fun read

Interview: Stevie Nicks In Your Dreams Documentary Should Arrive by End of Year

Stevie Nicks to "Make Memories" as She Hits the Road This Summer

Stevie Nicks has a dream...and it involves encouraging fans to check out her album In Your Dreams.  The disc came out last year and made the top 10, but she feels so strongly about the project that she wants to continue to spread the word.  That's why, starting tonight, she's hitting the road this summer, not once, but twice.

Stevie will kick off her solo tour in Long Island, New York Friday night, and wrap up those shows on July 15.  Then, July 20, she's heading back out again, this time on a double bill with Rod Stewart.  The two first teamed up last year for their Heart & Soul Tour, and it was such a success that they're doing it again.

So how will those two tours be different?  Stevie explains, "Well, Rod gives me an hour and fifteen minutes and my own set is a little over two hours.  So, it's you know, it's great either way.  I mean, I get to do a longer set by myself, but I don't get Rod."

Stevie tells New York Newsday that in addition to her hits, her solo shows will include as many as half-a-dozen songs from In Your Dreams.  "No one puts six new songs in their set," she says. "I feel like it's really a gift that my audience has given me to allow me to do the new songs and not start complaining...I feel really thankful for that."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tells Newsday that each night on stage, she'll tells her audience, "This is not a Stevie Nicks' greatest hits tour.  This is a tour promoting a record called In Your Dreams.  I'm giving it a second chance because I believe in it that much, and I hope that you like [it].  And if you like [it]...do me a favor and tell a friend."

But aside from promoting the new album, Stevie says her other impetus for touring this summer is to give herself material for a future project.  "At my age, you start to really go, 'I'm going for the experience,'" she explains.  "As my mom always used to say, 'We're just making memories.'"

Stevie says that she writes her tour experiences "in my journal every night," adding, "These are memories that I'm making right now...that someday will go into a big art thing: book, poems, you know, the whole thing."  No word on when that project will materialize, but Stevie has completed a documentary about the making of In My Dreams which we should see by the end of the year.

Review: Lindsey Buckingham Wilmington, DE June 11th

Lindsey Buckingham Live in Wilmington, DE June 11, 2012
By Jason Henn - June 29, 2012
Popmatters

The night was billed as “An Intimate Evening with Lindsey Buckingham”, which in many cases, for many performers, could suggest a few things—subdued, maybe low energy, maybe entirely acoustic. From the moment he emerged, though, Buckingham beamed a concentrated intensity. He looked lean and healthy in jeans and a leather jacket, emitting a sort of cool, new age dad vibe. He stared straight up to the lights and out at the audience a few times, clasped his hands in a yoga pose to show thanks for the applause, and launched directly into straight-forward, athletically finger-picked readings of “Cast Away Dreams” and “Bleed to Love Her”.

After a few songs and as many guitar changes (there were no less than nine during the main set, nearly one for every song), Buckingham addressed the elephant in the room, namely his stadium-sized self and the small, informal downstairs space at the Queen.

Fleetwood Mac Drummer Mick Fleetwood & 'Hell's Kitchen' Chef Scott Leibfried to Open Lahaina Restaurant

Fleetwood’s drums up lots of interest. Legendary rocker to open Lahaina restaurant on Front Street
with ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ chef this summer

By CARLA TRACY - Dining Editor
The Maui News

In a sentence, Fleetwood's on Front Street will "combine English gentleman with a Bohemian accent in the islands," when it opens this summer.

That's because its owner and namesake, legendary rock star Mick Fleetwood, prefers that look and feel.

"The most exciting part of this whole thing happening is that Mick Fleetwood lives here and he loves Maui. It will not be just another celebrity restaurant. He embraces Hawaii and its culture," says Eddy Bitton, one of Mick's partners in the business and president of the Bitton Design Group, based in Agoura Hills, Calif.

"Fleetwood's will be a restaurant first. A food establishment first. We have a moving target date for our opening and it's either late July or early August. Of course, it depends on the permit process and other things that may occur."

Bitton joins some rock legends as Mick's backers in the biz. But on a recent visit to the construction zone, I was asked not to reveal any names yet. Of course, rumors continue to swirl on island.

There's a good chance they'll show up to play with the longtime, famous Fleetwood Mac drummer after the restaurant opens. But you'll have to read about the music aspect in Scene soon, when our esteemed contributor, Jon Woodhouse, interviews Mick and asks him all about it.

Yet another big news item is that Scott Leibfried, 11-year sous chef on the "Hell's Kitchen" FOX reality TV cooking show, has been named corporate chef of the massive culinary enterprise.

Stevie Nicks: "plans are definitely underway to prep "Buckingham Nicks" for CD release"

Stevie Nicks feels positive that 1973's Buckingham Nicks, the sole joint album with then-lover Lindsey Buckingham will see a release next year.

The pair's pre-Fleetwood Mac album, which has never been released on CD, celebrates it's 40th anniversary next September. Over the years, Buckingham Nicks has gained a legion of die-hard fans, who have sought out pristine vinyl pressings of the Polydor release for major money. A 30th anniversary release was tentatively scheduled back in 2003, but never materialized.

It was the album's closing number, "Frozen Love" that gained Mick Fleetwood's attention while scouting Los Angeles' Sound City recording studio. The album's producer, Keith Olsen, played the track as a demonstration of the studio's capabilities and hooked Fleetwood who soon asked Buckingham -- and by extension -- Nicks to join Fleetwood Mac. Two of the Buckingham Nicks tracks would be included on future albums -- Nicks' "Crystal" found a home on Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled collection and a live version of "Don't Let Me Down Again" was featured on 1980's Fleetwood Mac Live.

Stevie Nicks told us that plans are definitely underway to prep their first Buckingham Nicks release on CD: "This is, the coming up year is the 40 years. So, what we're thinking is we might do something to celebrate the 40 years thing and we're going to try and put the record out. The only reason why it hasn't come out is because it kinda belongs to three different people and it's like owning a car, a third of a car. And everybody has to be on the same page and nobody has ever been on the same page. So we're hoping this year people will get on the same page and we can put it out since this is it's 40th."

We asked her if there's any chance for a few Buckingham Nicks shows to promote the new set: "Very possibly! Very possibly! 'Cause we. . . that's easy. Yeah."

Stevie Nicks & Marc Cohn hit the stage Friday at Jones Beach...

Stevie Nicks to Headline at Jones Beach Friday
Marc Cohn will open for the rock and roll icon at Wantagh venue.

By Nicole Murphy

Nicks will hit the stage Friday at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh following famed folk rocker Marc Cohn. Between her time with the British-American rock band and her solo career, Nicks has sold more than 140 million albums and created more than 40 Top 50 hits. Nicks closed out last year's Nikon at Jones Beach Theater summer schedule.

Still producing hits today, Nicks' seventh studio album, "In Your Dreams," was released in May 2011 and sold more than 50,000 copies in its first week. Her first studio album since 2001's "Trouble in Shangri-La." "In Your Dreams" also commemorated the 30th anniversary of Nicks' debut record "Bella Donna."

Nicks' current tour is still celebrating "In Your Dreams." Fans can expect to hear a mix of hits from both Fleetwood Mac and Nicks' solo work.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday and Cohn is set to open at 8 p.m. The concert is scheduled for rain or shine.

Stevie Nicks to perform at Jones Beach
and PNC Bank Arts Center
By Kara Yorio

She is a rock legend, the owner of an instantly identifiable voice, a woman who has survived professionally through the onslaught of female pop and rock performers and personally through very public drama and drug battles. Stevie Nicks is not just an act – she is talent plus passion, emotion always bubbling to the surface in her deeplypersonal songs.

TELL ME MORE: Nicks has a voice that has resonated for decades and continues to touch fans old and new, whether solo, in duets with Tom Petty and Sheryl Crow or as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Onstage, she twirls around and works magic, as she has for years. Nicks was a mentor on the most recent season of "American Idol," singing a bit with Elise Testone in one of the highlights of the "Idol" experience for the Kinnelon native Testone.

DETAILS: Friday, Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, 1000 Ocean Parkway. Tickets are $20 to $125. Saturday, PNC Bank Arts Center, Garden State Parkway, exit 116. Tickets are $25 to $125. 800-745-3000, livenation.com or ticketmaster.com.

Stevie Nicks to perform at Hershey's Star Pavilion
By CHRIS MAUTNER

Stand back, stand back — Stevie Nicks is coming to town.

The scarf-wielding singer-songwriter will perform a solo concert Tuesday night at The Star Pavilion in Hershey.

Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, which she and then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham joined in 1974. Their contributions helped propel the group into superstardom and their second album together, 1977’s “Rumors,” remains one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Nicks’ contributions to the group include such beloved and chart-topping songs as “Landslide,” “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman” and “Rhiannon.”

In addition to her work with Fleetwood Mac, she’s had a successful solo career, penning such well-known songs as “Edge of Seventeen,” “Talk to Me” and “Stand Back.”

Nicks is touring in support of her latest album — her first in 10 years — “In Your Dreams,” which was released in 2011. The album received largely positive reviews — Rolling Stone said, “It’s her finest collection of songs since the Eighties” — and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.

It’s a safe bet that concertgoers will hear a few of those new songs mixed in with classic material.

“I can no longer ask people to buy records, because nobody buys records anymore,” Nicks said in a recent interview with The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger. “All I can do is say, ‘This is where I am right now, these are new songs. I want you to love them and feel them and listen to them. And whether you get the record or not, you’re going to hear them tonight.’¤”

The opening act will be Marc Cohn, a singer-songwriter best known for the 1991 song “Walkin’ in Memphis.”

Interview: Stevie Nicks - Thankful to her audience

Jones Beach:
Stevie Nicks' 'Dreams' spot
Long-Island Newsday

Stevie Nicks is on a mission.

Though her album "In Your Dreams" (Warner Bros./Reprise) reached No. 6 when it was released last year and spawned two Top 25 hits on the adult contemporary charts, it hasn't made the kind of impact the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is used to. So Nicks is taking to the road again this summer -- kicking off her tour Friday at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater -- to bring the music to more people.

"I lost my mom in December," Nicks said, calling from her home in Los Angeles. "But one of the last things she said to me was: 'Don't you give up on this record. . . . You take 2012 and you go out and work this record because this record is your little masterpiece. Don't be swayed by everybody else. You do what you need to do to sing these songs.' She knew it was important to me."

You really are showcasing "In Your Dreams" on this tour.

No one puts six new songs in their set. You're taking a big chance that people are going to say, "Excuse me, what songs have you just taken out to put that song in?" But that didn't happen last tour, and we were able to do the important old songs and the new songs. I feel like it's really a gift that my audience has given me to allow me to do the new songs and not start complaining. . . . I feel really thankful for that. You feel creative. You feel like you're still a really creative artist.

That creativity is still on display in the new song "Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream)." What more could you possibly do for a hit today?

I know! [Laughs.] I'm trying to understand the music business today, and I'm trying to learn why it is that that's true. I'm not feeling quite so bad about it anymore because it's happening to everybody. It's not just me. . . . It's happening to everyone unless you're 20 and have a big hit single. Then, even if you are 20, you have to be nervous about that 19-year-old who's going to come up with a song that someone else wrote for them that's really great and wipe you off the map. It isn't good for the young kids and it isn't good for us, either.

So you have to do something else to get the word out about your new music.

Yes, and if you're me, you're lucky because you get to walk out on the stage and say, "This is not a Stevie Nicks' greatest hits tour. This is a tour promoting a record called 'In Your Dreams.' I'm giving it a second run because I believe in it that much, and I hope that you like them. And if you like them and you're a part of my little army, do me a favor and tell a friend." I get to do that. Most people don't get to do that. I feel like I'm really lucky, and I'm in a good place in the music business. My heart breaks for the younger artists -- because I know that there's another Fleetwood Mac out there, and I know that there's The Who out there, that there's a James Taylor out there, a Carole King out there. I know they're all out there, but . . . someone has to figure this out.

Song Premiere:
Best Coast Performs Fleetwood Mac's 'Rhiannon'

Best Coast covers Fleetwood Mac's 1975 smash "Rhiannon" on a forthcoming tribute album — a task which clearly requires quite a bit of reverence, to the point where singer Bethany Cosentino even channels Stevie Nicks' warbling rasp. And, while the song's familiar guitar line is replaced with a dramatically simplified piano melody, the result captures the melancholic yearning of "Rhiannon" — its mystical side, its understanding of unattainable love — without losing the beach-bound giddiness of Best Coast's simple, shiny sound.

Mick Fleetwood to Skype to his Maui Restaurant while on Fleetwood Mac Tour

"News has it that Fleetwood Mac will be touring in 2013! Mick will still be at the restaurant often. How? We've set up a two way, multi-screen, high definition live camera system that will bring Mick right into our bar in real time. You talk with him while he's backstage at a concert venue and he talks with you in real time. Just tried the connections and this is way cool. Skype on steriods!"
