Stevie Nicks in Eagles Documentary

Just watched the new Eagles documentary "History of the Eagles Part 1 and Part 2" that's running on Showtime.  First of all, it's long, about 3 hours in length for both parts.  Second of all, I thought it was really good. I'm not much of an Eagles fan, but it's remarkable how much of their music I know and like.  The vintage footage whether live or backstage was really cool to see. Check it out if you can.

If you watch... During the credits Stevie gets a few words in on the band and it's influence on the music scene saying:

"I think they were a defining moment in the rock n roll world that I love. You couldn't really love the Eagles music and be an Eagles fan and actually know them and not aspire to greatness yourself"

  1. I watched this hopeing there would be some mentions of Fleetwood Mac or Stevie, since she did date him for a few years and Fleetwood Mac was their competition. And then at the very end, you almost miss it. There she is. Very nice.

  2. I always had the impression/feeling that Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles were silent rivals. I wouldn't expect to see FM in an Eagles documentary or vice versa.

  5. Stevie dated two of The Eagles. First she dated Don Henley in the late 1970's, when she was writing "Leather & Lace". Then in the early 80's she dated Joe Walsh, when he opened for her on "The Wild Heart" Tour. She has said more than once in interviews that Joe was the love of her life, but they were both doing too much coke when they were together.

  7. I heard the Eagles came off as perfect assholes in this film. Not surprising.

  8. Great film!!! It wasn't an expose film talking about love interests, dating, or rival bands. It was about the great work The Eagles did and Their story, not Fleetwood's.

  10. "greg, then how do you explain that they almost toured together in 2010?"

    One word answer: MONEY

But the important questions is, why did they NOT tour together in 2010? Did Egos outweigh the amount of money they would've made had the tour happened?

  11. I ran into Don Henley while visiting Malibu in 2008 at "Moonshadows" restaurant. He wouldn't sign an autograph and wouldn't pose for a photo, citing that he was trying to spend time with friends. He was very rude. That same night we ran into Celine Dion by "Hammersteins" and she couldn't have been nicer.

  12. Were you bothering him during his meal? Wouldn't you hate it if someone interrupted you while you're eating dinner with friends? Annoying.

  13. celebrities are people too. They are not Gods and Goddesses....Even Stevie Nicks flattens velvet when she sits down!
while it may mean a lot to YOU to get an autograph or a picture, these people are hounded constantly.
The best thing you can do, is support them and love them from afar.

  14. Stevie also dated JD Souther. She was very close to The Eagles. I believe Don Felder is playing on Bella Donna. She would certainly have some interesting things to say about them. I wish she had been in the documentary more.

  15. Stevie dated Don around 76-ish, really early in her fame w/FM.She dated JD Souther around the same era - 77-ish, she recorded the "If You Ever Did Believe" demo with him. His vocals & influence is obvious on the IYEDB mid 70's demo. Obviously Stevie started "dating" Joe Walsh during her "Wild Heart" tour in 83', on & off through 85'. And Don Felder played on both Bella Donna & Wild Heart, most notable is his guitar playing on "Nothing Ever Changes". All of this PLUS Bernie Leadon played on "Street Angel". So Stevie has a long history with these guys.

  16. I remember an interview where she really gushed about JD Souther and said how much fun he was. I always think of that when I watch the movie Postcards from the Edge since he makes a brief appearance in that. I don't think she was crazy about Glenn Frey though as I recall.
