Stevie Nicks to Guest Star on American Horror Story

Stevie Nicks is set to make a guest appearance on FX's hit series American Horror Story: Coven later this season, creator Ryan Murphy revealed on Tuesday. "Guess who's visiting the Coven? The legendary Stevie Nicks!" he tweeted to his followers. (Let's all do a Stevie Nicks shawl twirl over this epic casting news, shall we?!)

While she's yet to pop up in New Orleans, Nicks has had quite the presence on the witchy series thanks to Lily Rabe's kooky hippie character Misty Day, who idolizes the legendary singer-songwriter. And a source who works on the show exclusively spills to us that Misty's dreams come true when Nicks "comes to meet her biggest fan. And maybe sing with her." We. Die. Expect to see Nicks pop up in the Big Easy in episode ten.

Murphy recently revealed Nicks was a huge inspiration for the character of Misty.

"I love her character, she is obsessed with Stevie Nicks. The season really is an allegory and a metaphor for any minority group in the country where you feel alone, so she's a girl that has never known any other witches and all she's ever known is Stevie Nicks," he explained. "So I reached out to Stevie Nicks and asked her if we could use her music, and she thought about it for a while and then she said, "Oh OK, since it's you, I'll do it." Lily has an amazing Stevie Nicks shawl twirl scene in episode three. It's really fun and great and we use I think eight Stevie Nicks songs this year, so that's our musical stuff that we do."

American Horror Story was recently renewed for a fourth season, surprising no one given Coven's monster ratings: It's averaging 7.7 million viewers per episode, a franchise-best.

American Horror Story: Coven airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX.

'The white witch lives!' Stevie Nicks to guest star as sorceress on American Horror Story: Coven

She crafted an ethereal, mystical persona as the shawl-twirling frontwoman of Fleetwood Mac.
And Stevie Nicks will make her acting debut as the 'White Witch' on an upcoming episode of American Horror Story: Coven.

Series creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement on his Twitter page Tuesday, writing: 'Guess who's visiting the Coven? The legendary Stevie Nicks!'

The 65-year-old rock goddess - born Stephanie - was already a major source of inspiration for the show's necromancer witch, Misty Day.

Lily Rabe, who plays Misty, is just as obsessed with the eight-time Grammy nominee as her ethereal character.

'If I meet her, I actually think I might die on the spot,' the 31-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly.
'I don't get that crazy about a lot of people. I’m usually pretty cool, calm, and collected. But I don’t know if could behave properly. I love her so much. She's just a beautiful creature.'

According to Celebuzz, Stevie 'comes to meet her biggest fan and maybe sing with her' on episode 10.

Eight of Nicks' songs will also be used this season, including Edge of Seventeen and Rhiannon.

Murphy first connected with the Gold Dust Woman singer when they used her music for his Fox series Glee.

'I called Stevie Nicks and first I said, "I want to use you in the show,"' the 47-year-old producer told EW.

'But she was very resistant because from the beginning of her career people who are in the Wiccan community had given her a hard time thinking she was a witch and she got a lot of scary fan letters. She didn’t like the darkness of that, and I explained to her the part and she’s like, "Aw f***, let's just do it. OK, I love it.'"

Stevie suddenly found herself with more free time after Fleetwood Mac were forced to cancel their tour Down Under due to bass player John McVie's cancer treatment.

Nicks and her band won't take the stage again until December 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

American Horror Story: Coven - which recently got renewed for a fourth season -  currently airs Wednesday nights on FX.

This has crossed my mind on more than a few occasions watching Coven. To have Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Stevie Nicks all in one episode ... Wow!

  3. BIG Mistake, American Horror Story12 November 2013 at 20:32

Shark, meet American Horror Story. American Horror Story, meet Shark. NOW JUMP!!!

I think it's safe to say that AHS has now officially gone from bad to worse.

All of you that are SO thrilled Stevie is going to be on this show, have you forgotten that she cannot act her way out of a wet paper bag? She can't even play herself convincingly much less add anything to something that is supposed to be a dramatic television show. She has even commented herself how bad an actress she is. Wanting Stevie on the show has proven what an idiot Ryan Murphy is. Just because you idolize someone (as he apparently does Stevie) doesn't mean you need to ruin your work with them. That's what he will do with her on the show. The entire Misty Day being obsessed with Stevie storyline is beyond cliche and pathetic as is.

This season has been, by far, the weakest and worst to date. They have used every single tired old horror cliche they most possibly could have thought up. AHS is pretty cheesy and over the top to begin with but they've pretty much taken cheesy and OTT to a whole new level this year. If it weren't for Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Basset there wouldn't be anything worth staying around for.

  4. Well...I can't believe what I'm reading....why she/Stevie would want to be part of something that reaks of pure evil even if this is just a television series, is beyond reason....even for the so called...White Witch! So what if Lily Rabe/ Misty is a Stevie obsessed fan, there are millions of Stevie fans out there, that are surely not looking at this as a good thing ....just saying .

  5. get a grip anonymous - it's a tv show & Big Mistake: obviously people love the show (as do I) as the ratings prove it! Get a grip on reality!

  6. @Anonymous:

Big ratings does NOT mean quality.

American Horror Story has never been a show that has been based on strong writing and a good story line. They have always relied on the sensational. If you take the time to read comments about the show around the net you will find that the vast majority of them are not about how good the show itself is. They are about how good the actors on the show are. First and foremost, everyone has nothing but glowing comments about Jessica Lange. She has made AHS her show and she is why the viewers keep coming back. Secondly, the other actors on the series, especially this year, is something else that keeps the viewers there every week. Ryan Murphy has been lucky enough to be able to get some stellar acting talent that can take a mediocre show and mediocre writing and make it good. We also cannot overlook that some of the viewers who love AHS are there because they love sensationalism. Those are also the same viewers who think Game of Thrones is "epic".

If you weren't so blinded by Stevie Nicks and didn't think that every single thing she did was this wondrous and magical thing you would be able to get a grip on reality and see that Stevie will be a disaster on this show. She can't walk, talk and chew gum at the same time on camera much less appear in a show like AHS. Even playing herself she is going to stick out like a sore thumb in comparison to Lange, Bates and Bassett. Even the zombies they had last week are better actors than Stevie!

If anyone needs a grip on reality it is those of who you think Stevie Nicks will be good as an actress. lol

  10. The whole "Stevie's a terrible actress" meme is complete nonsense. Her performances in the FM videos were outstanding - the best of the pre-Madonna era - and definitely helped pull the band into the (then) 20th century. The music video/feature film director Russell Mulcahy - who directed GYPSY - said it was frustrating to work with her because she is such a great actress and has no interest in pursuing it.

Stevie "acts" on stage and plays characters through her songs in the same way that someone like Barbra Streisand does. She is an incredible photographic model with a professional model's feel for the camera. Without these gifts there wouldn't be a "Stevie Nicks."

Don't understand the rage of "Anonymous" at all. Watch GYPSY again and tell me Stevie can't act. It's so obvious she can - and does - you must be deaf, dumb and blind in an aesthetic sense.

  11. Well said
Stevie nicks is a really multi talented artist
And real to everything she comes in contact with
    God bless for being you

"you must be deaf, dumb and blind in an aesthetic sense"

And to see Stevie Nicks as anything other than a singer, YOU are most certainly the one who is deaf, dumb and blind.

Acts on stage? Really? She stands there and fiddles with ribbons, twirls around, screams her lyrics out, slurs her words and does a high kick every now and then. The biggest acting she does on stage is to pretend she's actually there "for the music" instead of the box office take.

Stevie Nicks is NOT an actress. By any means. I don't give a rats ass what Russell Mulcahy said. You do know that people in the industry bullshit a lot? Give compliments where they aren't deserved. Anyone who says Stevie can act is most certainly giving compliments where they are not deserved just because she is Stevie Nicks.

Regardless, the vigor with which you love to defend your precious Mama never ceases to make me LOL! Thanks for the laugh!

  13. You really are a witchy queen. The "industry"? Get real. Obviously you're some bitter drag queen that Stevie didn't pay proper attention to when you were in line with your Bella Donna album. Yes, I stand by what I said about Stevie as an actress because song and acting are not mutually exclusive. Just because you're immune to emotions, gestures and subtleties doesn't mean other people are motivated by the cynicism that drives you. You project lots of negativity on Stevie that's your own - brush up on your Carl Jung, White Winged Mess.

You really don't get why Stevie is a superstar who endures over decades. You think that just "anyone" (translation = your pathetic self) could just as well play "Stevie." You think it's about the shawls and the lace and the kicks and the romances. You are so jealous of Stevie it drives you crazy (not a far ride from where you're at).

You are a crazy drag queen. I point you to William Castle's HOMOCIDAL to understand yourself.
