New Song Sample: "Blue Water" WOW! @StevieNicks... Well done!

It's only 15 seconds... But it's enough to hear that Stevie's staying pretty close to the original demo.. which is a good thing. It's a simple, but beautiful song.  She sounds fantastic here!

"Blue water... I sit and I wait
for the morning to come...
Blue water"

  2. Finally Something I Think I Will Love9 September 2014 at 19:51

This is a song I've loved ever since first hearing it many, many years ago when I obtained a cassette copy via the mail of the Uncirculated Rumours demo set. It's such a beautiful song and I've wondered for years how it always seemed to be passed up when she would release a new record. When news came out about 24 Karat my mind immediately went to Blue Water. What a better gem to pull out of the vaults.

In all honesty, I had not been impressed with anything I've heard in line of snippets or full songs. I've not liked any of her vocals as I don't really feel anything from them. It's not the pitch of her voice I have issues with, it's the presentation; the delivery. I'm not feeling anything real from her. I've not heard anything that really makes me want to add this record to my collection.

Blue Water feels different from everything else I've heard somehow. While I still find the vocals a bit "shaky", I do love that she isn't straining in this clip. It doesn't sound like she's trading singing a lyric for shouting it (Lady) or like she's tired or uninterested (The Dealer). This one snippet has given me an interest in wanting to hear more. As much as I love the original song, I'm so glad that this was the one snippet that was better than the rest for me. I would have hated if her re-recording of this song ended up as bad as, IMO, Lady and The Dealer. October can't get here fast enough so I can hear this one in full! :)

  5. I love Stevie's voice. It's a unique instrument unlike any other. It's why she remains relevant today where most of her contemporaries flamed out years ago. Blue Water (the original) and perhaps not even a demo but a outtake passed on repeatedly project after project. In my opinion the one circulating as a demo on YouTube for the past decade is complete perfection. It should have been released in that form on a CD and not tampered with. I cannot really tell how this version will play out as compared to the original - but from this snippet what I'm hearing is a different song entirely. True she was about 32 when she and Sharon recorded the original. Absolute perfection. At least I have that one stored in my collection and most likely will be the one I always play just like "Space Needle" Forest of the Black Roses" and the uptempo demo of "I Sing for Things"....I'm really thrilled she has done 24K Gold. Just have a funny feeling it will be a one or two listen CD & then back to the demos.

  6. I just like listening to these songs written as a young woman but sung now by a more mature one. They somehow take on a different meaning. I thought the last I would ever hear from her would be Street Angel but she continues to prove me wrong. This will end sometime soon so enjoy her new gifts while you can.

  7. I think this is very pretty - I love the demo as well. I like how Stevie "fits" her voice to the song - does she need to sing everything in the same key, tone? I guess you can't please everyone.

  8. Yeah. Need to keep a real perspective here. Whatever we get is a true gift. Stevie could have stopped years ago but she chooses to keep giving. In some ways she is better than ever. She really is very fortunate. Most people don't age as well. She is a living legend and an amazing vintage. Like many have said- If Stevie Nicks sang the phone book- I would purchase the CD!! And so would I.

  9. I hope she makes a follow up to this CD. I think she sounds wonderful. It's a shame that some people don't or refuse to enjoy her voice as it is now. It's sad that her voice is always being compared to how it was when she was in her 30's. Stevie is a gift and so is her voice.
