One of the few he has outside of Fleetwood Mac. Well hun, it is time you finally accept the fact that Stevie's worst selling album still outsells all of his albums combined. The attendance of people on her worst selling tour outnumbers all of his tours combined. Both Stevie's and Christine's singles charted better then his singles within the band. Is there any point in comparing his solo career to Stevie's? Do you know the reason why Stevie is the superstar he will never be? It's because she is the far superior songwriter. If you are a skillfull instrumentalist, every time you pick up your instrument and start playing, you can completely turn off your brain, and still create a melody just by following rules, and that is exactly how Lindsey writes. He is a master guitarist, and (used to be, now his methods are ridiculously outdated) a good producer, but there is absolutely no depth in his songwriting. If you are satisfied with just brilliant technical playing, then fine... But have in mind that the purpose of art is to transfer the emotion of the author to other people. An artist is a person capable of manipulating other people's moods and emotions through their work, and it's something Stevie does with such ease... Despite the very basic piano playing, her demos are deep, atmospheric, and meaningful. Minimalist songs that are a lot heavier and "fuller" then Lindsey's overproduced, vocally manipulated, shallow crap. She is the artist Lindsey will never be, just as she will never be an instrumental virtuoso. In 40 years of creating, he somehow got lucky a couple of times to spontaneously reach that point, but everything else is just shallow "technical", and often pretentious songwriting buried deep under, I will say it again, brilliant guitar playing, and production. He is best as a contributor to a great band, which is obvious if you look at his solo career. Now go and spill your bile on The Ledge for example. That is the right place for frustrated haters like you who cannot stand the failed career of their favorite musician. When Lindsey left, the band still maintained their status and success. When Christine left, they did the same, but I guarantee you, if that "completely washed up seahag who hasn't been able to sing for years" leaves the band tomorrow, they wouldn't be able to fill a stinkin' bar. You are not just a moron. You are a sad, bitter, shallow, frustrated moron. It wouldn't matter to me if Stevi...@Anonymous:

It wouldn't matter to me if Stevie were a size 0 or a size 60. I don't care how heavy or thin she is. How much she weighs doesn't mean anything to me. Caring more about a persons weight, height, hair color, etc. is just stupid. If I'm honest, I loved Stevie just as much when she put on all the extra weight she did back in the early 90's as I did when she was worrysomely thin back in the 70's. So, you'll never hear that complaint from me.

Whether you like it or not, her vocal range is very much an issue because of what she does for a living. A singers voice is their tool the same as a hammer and nails are tools to a carpenter. If that tool is damaged or loses it's edge, the end product suffers. Unfortunately, Stevie's tool is not as sharp as it used to be. Most musicians her age, their tools aren't as good either. Lindsey's vocal range is horrible these days as well. "Miss Fantasy" off the EP was painful to listen to because he was singing notes he had no business attempting. It happens. Get used to it. And, yes, the fans have every right to, as you say, "attack" it. Although, I wouldn't say commenting she doesn't have the vocal range she used to is attacking.

Stevie's skin is a lot thicker than you give her credit for. I'm sure there are things that hurt her feelings. She's only human. If she were to fall to pieces every single time someone said something negative about her you never would have known Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks. She would have quit and gone home to her parents and finished college to be a teacher. She knows how to take criticism and handle it.

Stevie is a beautiful woman. Ten years ago I would have given you both the inside and out but now I'll only go so far as the out because I think she's starting to show some personality quirks that make her less than beautiful. The problem is that she's gotten too much praise from the people around her and her fans that think she is better than perfect.

You must be one of Stevie's younger fans that doesn't remember the days when she was a joke and it was embarrassing to admit you were a Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac fan. I went through those days and didn't give a rats arse then what others thought of my opinions of the band and don't now.American Horror Failnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620511595417365920.post-29576536869019920622014-01-30T22:49:03.424-06:002014-01-30T22:49:03.424-06:00This just goes to show that you can't please e...This just goes to show that you can't please everyone. It's amazing how Stevie's fans find fault with everything that is does - she should have sung this, I can't believe she appeared on THAT show, she should wear this, why did she wear that......if I were Stevie, I would stop recording, doing shows and just go into retirement. Why even bother with so much negativity. She almost stopped doing shows because of how cruel the press (and yes, her fans as well) were about her weight gain several years ago. Her fans make comments about her weight now. Not to mention the attacks on her vocal range. She is a beautiful woman inside and out and if people can't come to terms that she will never be a size 0 or regain her vocal range again, don't listen to her or look at her. Stevie doesn't leave her songs as open to interpretation as she thinks she does. I'm sorry, I can't buy at all that Silver Springs would fit in the least with putting someone to death. Show me on lyric in that song that actually FITS that situation. I don't think she's offended by the poor use of the song at all because hey, she got paid for it. No big deal.

"As for the cold opening, I think it served its purpose ... it was a tribute to Stevie Nicks, nothing more."

And therein lies the problem. There shouldn't have been any tributes to Stevie Nicks in this season at all. This season was not supposed to be about Stevie Nicks. She was a minor part of it; an obsession of one of the characters and a tool to be used by another. Why make her the opening focal point of what should have been the penultimate episode of the season?

I will agree that the writing in AHS from the first season has been all over the place. This series has never had good writers. They bring things in and never explain them, they add characters that serve no purpose, they introduce plot lines then conveniently forget them because they don't know how to get themselves out of the mess they got themselves into. I can't see that changing at all in future seasons. Thanks to how truly awful this season was, this is my last go with AHS. I'm glad Jessica Lange is jumping off the ship as well. She doesn't need this garbage to bring down her amazing career. I just hope the writers can actually pull their heads out and write something good for her for her final season with the show as she is much too good for this.

"Other than wishing she would have performed the track live in the episode...I'm curious why she never used "New Orleans." Obviously in the documentary she notes how special the song is to her, but a perfect opportunity to give IYD some new promotion would have been to sing "New Orleans" at the piano"

Again, there's no way Stevie could have performed Seven Wonders live. She doesn't have the voice for it anymore. "New Orleans" wasn't used probably because Ryan Murphy and the musical directors didn't think it would be recognizable enough and because it is not a good song. I don't care how much it means to Stevie, it's not a good song. Maybe if season five is American Horror Story: Bloodsuckers they can use "New Orleans" so that vampire brushing can get in there. And come on, don't you think it would have been absolutely pathetic to have turned AHS into a subtle In Your Dreams promo ad? That's just cheap and tacky and would have felt even more out of place and odd than Stevie's participation already did. Even playing an IYD doc promo at the end of the show--cheap and tacky.

As Anonymous said, I'm no fan of RM either. Don't care for the guy in the least. I'm glad this whole nightmarish season is over. It was a very poorly executed bit of good exposure for her and I'm glad Stevie is getting a tiny burst on iTunes right now. I don't see it lasting long because we're coming off the up of last nights finale. When that up comes down, so will the numbers for Stevie's songs. That's just the way of things. It happens with all sorts of shows and events.American Horror Failnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620511595417365920.post-13324708570059373182014-01-30T19:48:03.770-06:002014-01-30T19:48:03.770-06:00Now at #100Now at #100Nickslivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17282314489213778854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620511595417365920.post-46855939653880510582014-01-30T19:38:20.150-06:002014-01-30T19:38:20.150-06:00Now at #101Now at #101Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620511595417365920.post-17262328976587698872014-01-30T19:15:34.913-06:002014-01-30T19:15:34.913-06:00Eh - didn't see the show and don't care to...Eh - didn't see the show and don't care to (watched first year of GLEE and dropped it in the 2nd because of the precipitous decline in quality - don't care for Ryan M at all). So Stevie lip synchs badly to an old hit, walks through an "atmospheric" house drenched in digitalized sepia and gives her blessings to the cast in a bombastic, over-posed finish. I don't get it. Why is this special?

Did anyone else notice how the camera lost interest in Stevie about 2/3 of the way in, after which this quasi-music video is little more than a series of tracking shots just inches above the floor?

Kind of dumb on the whole, but admittedly good exposure for Stevie. True, it did nothing to further the story, but so what? AHS: Asylum left several things hanging - the alien thing was never explained.

As I said in an earlier comment, AHS has always been about the horror that humans do. The true monsters in AHS are always humans, it's designed that way. People do bad things and bad things happen to good people. Yes, it sucks what happened to Nan and Misty, but it's not entirely unrealistic.

Other than wishing she would have performed the track live in the episode (like she did with "Rhiannon" and "Has Anyone Ever Written..."), I'm curious why she never used "New Orleans." Silver Sprin...I wasn't crazy about the finale.

Silver Springs seemed like an afterthought, as if it simply had to be inserted somewhere.

Visually, I thought the cold open was incredible. But, of course it had no cohesiveness with the overall plot of the show.

As others have mentioned, I also thought it was stunning that she would appear on a show where she played a high-level witch. I watched every episode this season and was stunned at some of AHS's content. Some opt the stuff is not only extremely dark, but also pretty authentic, as well.

Regardless, I enjoyed her appearances. In particular, I thought the HAEWAFY segment was great.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620511595417365920.post-1585509918964654022014-01-30T17:31:15.137-06:002014-01-30T17:31:15.137-06:00The second poster in this thread was exactly right...The second poster in this thread was exactly right. Stevie's parts in this show DID hurt it. Why? Because they were forced and not part of a naturally written story line. They did not flow. Nothing about this season flowed. I've watched AHS from the beginning and this was, by far, the worst of all three seasons. It was 13 hours of cliche, fanboi-ing, bad acting and how-shocking-can-we-be writing. It was bad. Zoe and Madison shouldn't even have been on the show at all. Emma Roberts was just playing a witchy version of her real self so no great stretch there. And Tessa Farmiga should leave the acting to her sister who is much more capable.

Silver Springs was an extremely poor choice for Myrtle. Silver Springs was NOT written FOR or ABOUT Stevie's mother. Stevie is talking to a lover, not a mother, in that song so there is absolutely no motherly connection there. Would YOU ask your mother the questions Stevie asked of the person she was talking to in that song?

Misty Day's fate was completely inappropriate. Of all the characters in this season, Misty was the only one, apart from Nan before they pulled the line of BS they did with her, who was genuinely good at heart, innocent and didn't think only of herself. She did not deserve the fate she received. Wonder if Ryan Murphy was angry that if Misty became the new Supreme she would get more of Stevie's time than he would? But, apparently all witches go to Hell when they die. Every single one on this show did, even the one that didn't deserve it most of all.

As for Ryan Murphy's quote about Seven Wonders: that is complete and utter BS. If he was as big of a Stevie fan as he claimed to be, he wouldn't have had to be reminded that she made that song. So many things in this show was tailored around his alleged "love" for Stevie yet he forgot that song? Even casual Stevie Nicks fans who only care to listen to her when she comes on the radio know it. Unless he lived in a cave in the late 80's, he didn't forget it either.

Regarding the Seven Wonders vocals: there was no way Stevie could have done new vocals for it and it still carry the same impact it did on the original, as was the case with Sisters of the Moon on this last tour. Face it, Stevie has gotten older. Her voice isn't the same it was 20 or 30 years ago. That happens. It's not her fault, it's age. She would have had to drop octaves and change the presentation of the song, just as she did with SOTM, and the original intensity would have been lost. It's best they played the older recording (not the album version!) but they should NOT have had her lip synching because Stevie can't do that to save her life, bless her. I guess since some of you seem to think these two appearances meant Stevie finally came out of the broom closet she could have just witched a decent vocal and let it be at that.

And as to Stevie being the "White Witch", I don't buy that either. Is everyone forgetting exactly why Stevie was there in the first place? She was supposedly a very good friend of Fiona and she came there to basically help Fiona find and murder her replacement. That doesn't sound very white witchy to me. And don't give me the "well, but Stevie didn't know!" line. The very fact Stevie was there said one of two things: either she was just as bad of a witch as Fiona and knew all along what her purpose was or she is the dumbest brick in the wall; even more naive than poor Misty was. Everyone knew how Fiona was. If Stevie was as good a friend as they made her out to be, she knew, too. She knew why she was there. Yet, she came and played along.

The only good things about Coven were Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Basset. I've never seen three such amazing actresses wasted so poorly with such inferior material.
