AUSTRALIAN and NEW ZEALAND FLEETWOOD MAC DATES

Fleetwood Mac To Play Winery On Australian Tour
by Paul Cashmere - August 15 2009

Expect an announcement any day now for Fleetwood Mac with an Australian winery included as part of their Unleashed tour.

The Fleetwood Mac line-up is Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Christine McVie has been out of the band for more than a decade now and happily living the retired life in England. "I’ve been the only girl in Fleetwood Mac since 1998, so I’m used to it now,” Stevie said during the conference all. “But I miss Christine. The loss of Christine as one of my best girlfriends was horrific to me. Not a day goes by that I don’t wish she would call up and say, 'I’m back.' "

An official announcement for the tour is due soon.

WALK A THIN LINE - FLEETWOOD MAC

"Walk a Thin Line" (Fleetwood Mac Cover) (Download)

Bradfod Cox of Atlas Sound covers Fleetwood Mac’s “Walk a Thin Line,” which originally appeared on the notorious Tusk album. Cox’s affecting rendition of Lindsey Buckingham’s song is more guitar oriented than his prior solo outing, but still contains a melancholy undertow that makes it instantly recognizable as an Atlas Sound track.

ANNOUNCEMENT SOON

Fleetwood Mac mystery show

British-American band Fleetwood Mac are to perform in New Zealand.

Ticket agency Ticketmaster is advertising on its website that the band will perform one show in New Zealand, but without listing the city or date.

It has asked people to supply their email addresses so they can be contacted when the city and date are confirmed.

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks performed at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth in 2006 and there is speculation that the band will perform there.

New Plymouth District Council's manager for business developments and events, Garry Sharpe-Young, declined to comment on whether it would be Bowl of Brooklands.

But he said he understood an announcement would be made soon.

"Some acts are perfectly suited to certain types of venues and I'm a great believer that we've got the iconic New Zealand venue. We'll wait and see."

Rumours captures a common sequence of human emotion

At Least I Didn’t Choose Sgt. Pepper
by Alex Locke

Being relatively young and impressionable, it seems impossible at this point in my life to say anything with very much certainty, but I am going to say this anyway—I don’t think I will ever come across anything quite as emotionally resonant as Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. Unfortunately, I can’t say with much confidence that I will feel this way for long. When I was sixteen I thought The Wall so brilliantly intertwined music and narrative that I would never be able to find anything better. And when I was seventeen, I thought no one could ever create an album as intriguingly morose and lonely as OK Computer. And when I was twenty, every time I listened to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, I thought I would never hear anything quite as nostalgic in my entire life. And now, at age twenty-one, Rumours has become the most important sequence of eleven songs in my extensive music collection.

CHARTS AND SALES OF RUMOURS DVD-A AND THE VERY BEST OF

In Australia Fleetwood Mac's "The Very Best Of" has been a constant seller re-entering the Top 50 Album Chart every year since it first appeared in October 2003. It peaked at #17 in June 2006. This week (August 3rd Issue) the cd re-enters the chart at #44 marking it's 77th week within the Top 50.

Here's another tidbit of information:

"Sales of DVD-Audio discs more than doubled in 2002. According to Nielsen SoundScan, an estimated 309,000 DVD-Audio music units were purchased, up 171% from 2001. The best seller is Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (Warner) at 17,000 units.
