Review: Fleetwood Mac Live in Stockholm... Myten förvandlas till trist nostalgi

So good was Fleetwood Mac at the Globe in Stockholm
by Joacim Persson
Concert in Globen, Stockholm . Attendance : 10,024 people.

(google translated)
Fleetwood Mac 2013 is of course a completely different band than the wrenching chaos that made " Rumours " to one of the world 's most successful albums . When was the band five explosive egos , each with unique stage charisma. Now it features slowing .

But even if the Globe gig will be powerless , lengthy and inflexible sometimes makes Fleetwood Mac a warm worthy cavalcade primarily through the classical second half of the 70s. Often with an authentic and beautifully forgiving mood on stage.
Bright attack

Today, Lindsey Buckingham band's natural center. The voice never wavering , his nylon acoustic attack on " Big Love" is still shining and the guitarist really shines in its discharge in the " I'm so afraid ."

Sitting on the floor Humbly, he controls the entire evening .

Finest is to see how Lindsey after just over two hours constant on stage still lingers when "World turning" turns into Mick's insanity gambit to drum solo .

In a corner with his legs stretched out across the floor , he sits through the flapping stroke and Micks almost inaudible galenmumlande the mic.

I imagine that he enjoys . To Lindsey knows that Mick drumming will not be there forever.

The entire globe is holding its breath As he faces the very last encore baring similar thoughts about Stevie Nicks , after their nearly lifelong relationship with each other .

Then do the former lovers a huge beautiful " Say Goodbye " together. It is eerily quiet in the Globe.

There are new pictures to remember Fleetwood Mac.

Fleetwood Mac is left - type. The myth becomes dreary
nostalgia.

Sometimes it's harder than usual to ignore the constructed in the situation. Many of the bands that fill stadiums and supporting the summer festivals are old now and their catalogs are from another time, but the added value still exists in old mytbyggen, designs created in a different era and a different time in artists' lives.

Fleetwood Mac is a band whose charge once consisted of equal parts mutual friction, cocaine and brilliant pop music. They sold 100 million albums , toured around the world and managed to be both monumentally successful and stand for any kind of artistry at the same time .

But what remains apart from the obvious? Fleetwood Mac is still in physical form, they stand there on the Globe stage, playing music and sounds in any respect as they have always done and as they did then. The bands formula and their narrative is also somewhat intact. It conveys still the story of a band that changed London to Los Angeles, reinvented themselves, became monumentally successful, torn apart by internal love affairs and breakups , drugs and luxury consumption.

Ep 2-13 Recap: American Horror Story: Coven "Get him out of here. He broke Stevie"

American Horror Story: Coven will use 8 Stevie Nicks songs this season. Misty Day = obsessed with Stevie

Misty Day is a major character in American Horror Story "Coven" this season. She is considered to be a necromancer witch obsessed with Stevie Nicks.

Misty Day Character Background:
A young woman from a backwoods Pentecostal community in the bayous of Louisiana, Misty Day is misunderstood and even feared by those in her community. Without a Coven to call her own, Misty spends her days wandering the swamps and listening to Stevie Nicks.

American Horror Story: Coven Stars Answer Burning Questions on What's Next

Ryan Murphy was asked:
Can Misty use her regenerative power to bring herself back to life? (If you watched the first episode, her character was burned at the stake).

Murphy:
Of course. I love her character. Her character is obsessed with Stevie Nicks. The season really is an allegory or metaphor for any minority in the country where you feel alone. She's a girl who has never known other witches. The only witch she's ever known is Stevie Nicks, so I reached out to Stevie Nicks and asked her if we could use her music. Lily has an amazing Stevie Nicks shawl twirl scene in Episode 3. We used like eight Stevie Nicks songs this year.

American Horror Story airs on the FX Channel Wednesday nights at 10p.

Stevie Nicks To Make A Guest Appearance
It was announced on November 12th that Stevie would be making an appearance on an upcoming episode. She'll also appear in a second episode before the end of the season in January. No further details have been released as to the scope of her appearances except that Ryan Murphy says: "Stevie appears as herself. It’s part of Fiona’s ruse in that Fiona is trying to get the true Supreme to reveal herself because she needs to stay alive. So she tells Misty Day that the Supreme gets so many great things in life, like tickets to the Oscars and Met Ball tickets. So she brings Stevie Nicks in as a gift to Misty to prove to her that if she exhibits more power she’ll get that and more. Then the other girls come home and see Stevie and Misty singing and it starts them trying to move much quicker to prove that they are the Supreme."

EPISODE 13 RECAP: (Wednesday, January 29, 2014)
AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN - SEASON FINALE
Stevie was the focus of the full cold opening of tonights season finale of Coven. "Seven Wonders" was the title of the episode... and sure enough Stevie sang the Fleetwood Mac track "Seven Wonders". I thought it was really cool... and just like a music video which Ryan Murphy weeks ago said it would be.

While lip syncing to the song Stevie passed through many of the rooms on the main floor of Miss Robichaux's Academy decked out in a long flowing dress, platform boots and that famous top hat all the while singing "Seven Wonders" (the original 1987 Fleetwood Mac version from the Tango In The Night album).  Glimpses of the girls in the coven off in their own spaces studying and getting ready for the Seven Wonders competition were shown while the track played.  At the end of the song (It wasn't the full song, but a large portion of it), Stevie stood at the bottom of the stairs as the girls made their way down the staircase. They stopped... She said "Good luck girls" then turned, and walked down the long hallway and out the door.  Pretty major segment! Not sure what happened with the track that Ryan Murphy said Lindsey and Stevie were working on for the show... Maybe it was supposed to be a retooling or updating of "Seven Wonders", not sure.  In any case, it didn't happen.

Silver Springs was also used in the show later on after the new Supreme was revealed and a burning at the stake of an older witch took place.

Great show!  Cool opening to the season finale for sure... and an unexpected crowning of the new Supreme.

EPISODE 6 RECAP: (Wednesday, Nov 13th)
"Get him out of here. He broke Stevie"

Rollingstone recapped tonights (Nov 13) American Horror Story: Coven beautifully... Here's where the Stevie track was placed in the show tonight.

Song used in the scene: Stevie Nicks "Leather and Lace" from the album "Bella Donna" $4.99 at Amazon.

Misty Day is living her best life in the swamp, watering Myrtle's unyielding mound and bathing Kyle. I genuinely feel horrible for Kyle's character. Left to wander confused through the wilderness, Misty's attempts to scrub his wiener in the bathtub (and frankly, the fact she is sort of overbearing and possessive herself) triggers the memory of the abuse at the hands of his mother, and Kyle freaks out. He smashes her record player, (it's actually an 8-track player and it's playing "Leather and Lace") sending Misty weeping to the floor. "Get him out of here. He broke Stevie," she sobs as Zöe arrives at her door. Zöe instead takes Misty and Kyle back to the Academy, employing Misty's powers to bring Madison back from the dead. "There's too much death inside her. Put your hands on her stomach and push," Misty instructs Zöe, and they physically shove Death from Zöe's decayed body. Madison makes a pretty solid recovery, save for the blurry fish-eye vision and inability to drink ginger ale. Unfortunately Madison doesn't yet remember her murder, though she does have some other useful information: "There's nothing on the other side. Just black. Forever." Hoo boy.

EPISODE 3 RECAP: (Wednesday, Oct 23rd)
Only one Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks) tuned used in this weeks episode, but it was well placed in the show and came within the first 15 minutes.

The scene starts out with Misty and Kyle lying on Misty's bed in her swamp shack backed by the sounds of "Sara" by Fleetwood Mac.  Misty begins to sing the opening lines to the song while smiling and looking at Kyle... "Wait a minute baby.. Stay with me a while.  Said you'd give me light but you never told me about the fire"... Then looks at Kyle and says: "Stevie didn't really find her voice until she and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac. That's the thing -- you can't be your best self until you find your tribe. I'm still lookin' for mine."

Zoe then shows up to pick up Kyle and take him home to his mother. Misty, all excited, shows Zoe how she's healed his scars with swamp mud and has nursed him back to health. Misty wants them both to stay for dinner, but Zoe says no, another time... This upsets Misty and she kind of goes off the rails, possessive like, grabs Kyle and says he needs to stay with her, they're connected... Kyle fights back and wants to go with Zoe. Zoe tells Misty she'll come back for her, she promises... Misty thinks otherwise saying "no you won't" as Zoe and Kyle leave the shack... Misty then kind of breaks down like she's been abandoned... starts to cry... Grabs a shawl... and twirls it out Stevie style...  End of scene.

Another great episode.  One of the young witches was killed tonight by Fiona the Supreme Witch, but I have a feeling she'll be back.

EPISODE 2 RECAP: (Wednesday, Oct 16th)
Episode 2 of American Horror Story: Coven - paid off substantially in the Fleetwood Mac dept.  As reported, eight songs are to be used this season and tonight the show kicked off with Stevie's "Edge of Seventeen" during a fairly gruesome scene where Misty Day brings a couple of gators back to life and they mangle two poachers.  Misty later on professes her love of Stevie Nicks to Zoe all the while Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" is playing in the background telling Zoe about the song saying "this was her anthem" and that Stevie is the "white witch" and her hero... The show is a hoot, it's all pretty camp, sometimes gross, but cool, fun and especially fun to watch the actors like Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates.

As a result, both Stevie, Fleetwood Mac and Edge of Seventeen were trending on Twitter in the USA.

Fleetwood Mac - a bunch of survivors
SvD Kultur
by ELIN UNNES

(google translated)
Fleetwood Mac, the well-playing soft rockers from the 1970s, has gone from being a band that Stevie Nicks was one of the members to be the veritable, mardi gras-style parade vehicle for Nick to come. Her iconic status in contemporary music has grown in a way that the last few years, if not come to overshadow the band's influence, at least match it.

When Fleetwood Mac are now returning to Stockholm Globe Arena is exactly 35 years since they released
"Rumours," one of the best selling popskivorna ever, with Nicks at the height of his älvlika, patschulidoftande, poetically responsive capability.

The concert begins also with "Second Hand News," the first song from the album, and the crowd cheers when Nicks voice enters the song's third line and a spotlight reveals her already on the stage, dressed in black chunks and a microphone and tambourine covered with lace and beads. The selection seems to be done with Nick in mind - "Dreams," "Rhiannon," "Landslide". The load noticeable though. Nicks struggling on high heels and after a while it feels like a bar stool and a glass of water would have been better accessories.

The band has at times been a record company's wet dream (extremely easy to listen to, well played music) and worst nightmare (lovebirds with addictive personalities) and Lindsey Buckingham reveals that emotions are answered. He explains how the record companies' working method is to "Find something that works, and then suck the life out of it." During his time as a band Fleetwood Mac has seen itself forced to undermine the method, and the album "Tusk" was one such attempt. Buckingham sings "Not that funny" from that particular disc, and Nick gets a much-needed breaks.

The sound is loud and big, and even though the band actually has aged, it sounds good - it's like the whole point of Fleetwood Mac. Mick Fleetwood drum kit looks like a moving van on the way from a drummer collective, which include a huge gong, and even the cheesy screensaver projected in the fund behind the band feels okay. The nostalgic "Landslide" also becomes years and the experiences that have changed and deepened Nick's voice into a strength.

So so what if they play for over two and a half hours, and it feels like 30 minutes of that time is of the Stevie Nicks tells a long and confused story that I think maybe about vacuuming, outdated music formats, and possibly even a little of copyright infringement. They're both great musicians and a bunch of survivors. Nicks is a true hippie, with all the lifestyle entails, transported to our present day. It's almost as if Charlie Chaplin would step out of the screen in all its black and white glory. It plays like no matter what she says, just that she is here, and she can actually talk, goes a long way.

THE Brisbane International Film Festival is back with a bang in 2013
with the Australian premiere of Nicole Kidman’s Queensland-shot movie The Railway Man.

Courier Mail 22 Oct 2013
This year’s event includes the first Australian screenings of hot Oscar favourite 12 Years a Slave and provocative French Palme d’Or-winner Blue Is the Warmest Colour.

A host of international guests will walk the red carpet with music royalty Stevie Nicks, who will be in town touring with Fleetwood Mac, presenting her biographical film In Your Dreams - Stevie Nicks. BIFF will also present a 40th anniversary screening of the 1973 horror classic The Exorcist, followed by an intimate Q&A session with Golden Globe-winning actress Linda Blair.

BIFF will also host and celebrate the stellar career of Australian director and screenwriter Fred Schepisi ( Evil Angels, The Russia House, The Eye of the Storm).

BIFF director Jennie Hughes, in her first year curating the festival, is understandably excited at the calibre of films and talent on offer.

“I wanted (BIFF) to be packed full of goodies from opening night but to have events all through the festival," she said.

REVIEW: Fleetwood Mac Live in Oslo - Lindsey Wore Blue... Nicks Ditched The Riding Jacket

In everlasting musical therapy
Even with some obvious mistakes, turned Fleetwood Mac. However, a good deal darker than many probably thought.

"Been down one time, been down two times, been down three times, I'm never going back." Ahh. A score of intense songs about love, relationships, arguments, drugs, betrayal, breakup, hope, faith and fervent despair. Could it be wrong? Of course, the legendary edition of Fleetwood Mac delivered. After each.

It was clearly a musical event of the rare that Fleetwood Mac finally came to Norway for real visits and tickets with prices up to 1300 million swine animal disappeared instantly by sales start. Someone with historical accuracy uttered that this is not the "real" Fleetwood Mac, what once was a psychedelic blues band with Peter Green on guitar back in the 1960s, while a few swear by the band between the period of the early 70s.

But Fleetwood Mac most people know and love is after all the third edition, the more pop-oriented band that was collected when the duo Buckingham Nicks joined in 1974 as one of several classic albums behind one of music history's best-selling, Rumours . Over 40 million sold, impressive enough. Ok, Christine McVie is no longer with, without weakening impression.

REVIEWS: Fleetwood Mac "Eternal Validity of the melodies and the magic of the internal dynamics shone through" - Herning ★★★★/6

By MADS KJÆR LARSE
Soundvenue.com
★★★★/6 Stars

Fleetwood Mac sold in their gilt-edged heyday millions of records with decadent and dreamy soft rock conceived on a bittersweet view of heartaches, conflict and cocaine intake. The 2013 edition of the band still consists of the classic crew behind the giant seller 'Rumours' - minus Christine McVie, however, for the first time since 1998 appeared with the rest of the group the other day in London's O2 Arena - but the concert in Jutland heartland could the band not quite fill Boxen out.

Photos by Toke Hage
It now seemed not to affect either the band or the audience. It lacked neither spark or will behind the efforts of the more than two and a half hour long concert - and not least because of the band's creative whip Lindsay Buckingham.

More than anything, it's hate / love affair between Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, now in his fifth decade gives specious ignition to the group's hedonistic anthems where deceitful, but sunny melodies meet in beautiful (dis) harmony. Added a safe rhythm section consisting of the flamboyant beacon of a drummer Mick Fleetwood and the slightly anonymous, but utterly reliable bassist John McVie.

The evening was divided into several sections, which could have given the long concert focus, but in fact made it more uneven and broken than was good.

We started out with three tracks from 'Rumours', including the signature song 'The Chain'. The sound was unfortunately not too good (especially initially), and the point particularly vocal effort under. Nick seemed completely off - until she had the chance to sing on the third track 'Dreams', while Buckingham roared more than singing.

The band - and especially Buckingham - found only true form of four numbers from the gaudy, new wave-inspired double album 'Tusk', as Buckingham introduced to with particular pride. One could clearly sense that it is in these anti-conformist songs such as the title track and 'Not That Funny', his heart beats with heftigst.

We also got a (semi-) acoustic section where Buckinghams single guitar virtuoso could come forward to the joy of a generally receptive audience. Buckingham stressed several times along the way where gifted a songwriter and guitarist he is. When he was most feisty and turned on, you could cut yourself on his continued full fat, but also curiously pirkende riffs.

More problematic was Nicks contributions that filled much, which in Christine McVies absence is only natural. The classic songwriting trio has been reduced to a duo, and it makes a difference. Nicks' smoked hippie mysticism seemed different kind old, especially when it was delivered with unfolded jams and slightly unctuous gestures and manners. Granted, Nicks song is hot during the concert and provided both a kindled 'Gold Dust Woman', where she is wearing a gold shawl, among other things spun dreamy around like another dervish, and a fine 'Silver Springs', which she definitely still enjoy singing with eyes on the man who in his time was the reason for the song's touchy-jilted tone. An acoustic 'Landslide' was also honorable, but especially because of the Buckinghams finely sketched guitar figure.

The concert could have maintained a far greater sense of momentum, if there had been tightened up, but Nicks held, among other things more confusing than enlightening speech of ten long minutes on a lost tape (!) And Fleetwood was also during the encore show off drum solo and act as cheerleader for the audience (though was with the game).

The highlights were predictable and was pushed to obvious climax: 'Go Your Own Way' and 'Do not Stop'. The latter in tandem between Nicks and Buckingham. The group's biggest hit emphasized a way, that the current Fleetwood Mac is a three-legged dog who probably learned to walk again, but never going to run: 'Do not Stop' it is written by Christine McVie, and her other contributions to group's repertoire was missing. Now we got rather too many guitar solos of classic rock variant, and a little too powerful em the hippie spirit, Nicks has always channeled - admittedly - headstrong manner.

More focus, more of the vital new wave pop with sharp lines and a direct approach was preferable on a night when The box was turned into a bit too stale palm of a rockdinosaurs experienced tricks. Fortunately shone the obvious musicality and eternal validity of the band's tunes as well as the magic of the compound, internal dynamics through and gave nostalgia nerve in concentrated shock.

Buckinghams still curious and energetic approach to his craft is evident, and more than nostalgia factor is what makes Fleetwood Mac anno 2013 to an often contagious (and therefore more relevant) experience.

The audience being puzzled isn't likely... but I am!  It's so unlike him to change this often!  We saw the leather jacket with blue jeans and a black t-shirt all through North America except for one show at the Mohegan Sun... We saw him in leather all through the UK dates.  Once he hit the mainland in Europe, it's been suit jacket all the way.  First a black jacket with black t-shirt and black jeans, now this blue jacket with black jeans and t-shirt.  At least he's keeping things interesting and I guess if you can't change the setlist, you may as well change jackets.

Which do you prefer.. Leather jacket or Suit jacket?
