Sheryl Crow's new album includes Stevie Nicks collaboration

Although she's given up touring for the time being, she's currently working on a new album with collaborators Keith Richards, Willie Nelson, Stevie Nicks and others.

Sheryl said: 'A year ago I told my kids I wasn't touring anymore. I had been touring since 1987. The kids have been all over the world. They were so mad when I told them no more.

'It's been good for me to just be bored and creative, to be present. In the meantime, I've made a record with friends, hopefully out in the beginning of next year: Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson...'

Mick Fleetwood Interview... Talks Maui Gallery, Future of Fleetwood Mac and New Music

[excerpt]

As far as Fleetwood Mac is concerned, you guys wrapped up a world tour – your first in more than a decade with Christine McVie back in the fold – a little less than a year ago. What does the future hold for the band?

Well, we're all dedicated to getting together about a year or so from now and going and doing another two years of touring all over the world, probably. And we also have a huge amount of recorded music. A huge amount. None of it's with Stevie. Or very little. Some of it is very, very old stuff that Lindsey maybe did with her years and years ago. We're not quite sure what will happen with it. But you know, doing this band is a huge investment. We're only off the road for less than a year, and when you add in the time it takes to put a tour together, do rehearsals, get it up and running, the whole thing, it's three years that you don't do anything else. And Stevie has her own life and career and I think … you know, she just doesn't want to spend the time right now. And we're quietly saddened about that but also I sort of understand.

Do you think there will be a new record?

I really don't know. The hope was that there was going to be. I do know that when Christine came back, she came back with a bag full of goods. She fucking wrote up a storm. She and Lindsey could probably have a mighty strong duet album if they want. In truth I hope it will come to more than that.

So nothing's planned ... but it could happen.

There's always a "could happen" [laughs]. But one thing that's for sure — there really are dozens of songs. And they're really good. And so you think, "Shit, I don't want it to be that, decades later, when we're all pushing up daisies, someone hears this stuff and goes, 'Well, that should have come out!'" So we'll see.

Charles Kelley shares stories and photos from his recording session with Stevie Nicks

Inside Charles Kelley & Stevie Nicks' 'Southern Accents'
Country singer shares stories and exclusive photos from his recording session with the Fleetwood Mac legend

BY CHRIS PARTON
Rollingstone.com

Charles Kelley has always been a huge Tom Petty fan and holds a special love for the 1985 song "Southern Accents," part of an album of the same name. He says he thought the homesick ballad would make a great country song and had long wanted to cut it with his band, Lady Antebellum, but they never got the chance.

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone Country, though, the expressive singer and native son of the South explains how an opportunity finally presented itself with his first solo project, The Driver. . . but it turned out much different than expected.

"Growing up in Georgia, it reminded me a lot of my dad," Kelley says. "He's a very spiritual person and the way he works, the way he prays, it's definitely that old-school Southern thing. So I always thought it would be a cool little homage to him."

Kelley recorded a demo version of the song in straightforward fashion and was happy with the result, but then fate intervened in the form rock legend Stevie Nicks. The Fleetwood Mac singer had become friends with Kelley and his Lady A bandmates through their CMT Crossroads collaboration and the song "Golden" — a Lady A track that spoke to Nicks so much she asked to re-record it with the trio — and during a trip to Nashville, Nicks heard Kelley was working on a solo album. After hearing the early cut of "Southern Accents" she felt inspired once again to join in, and although Kelley didn't envision his version of the song as a duet, you don't turn down Stevie Nicks.

The pair wound up at the Village Studios in Los Angeles, and their remarkable session was captured on film for a new video and intimate photo series. Coincidentally, they recorded Kelley's "Southern Accents" redo in the very same room where Petty cut his original version.
