Rock's Reigning Queen Suffering From Pneumonia
PRNewswire

NEW YORK, May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Stevie Nicks, whose highly anticipated new CD "In Your Dreams" - scheduled to be released tomorrow May 3rd, has had to cancel several upcoming appearances in New York due to coming down with pneumonia and the flu. Her doctor informed her over the weekend that she needed to "stay in bed and not fly" until she gets better. Nicks was scheduled to perform at a star studded event thrown in her honor by her record label Reprise Records at NY's Webster Hall on May 4th and was also planning on appearing on the Today Show and Good Day NY on May 3rd.

"I want to apologize to all my fans and hope that we can reschedule and of course I hope you love the new album. It's for you," commented Nicks.

"The gypsy queen is in royal form on 'In Your Dreams' — it's not just her first album in 10 years, it's her finest collection of songs since the Eighties," commented Rolling Stone in its review of Nicks' new CD.

  1. I hope she gets well soon...really do. She's the best and her new CD is fabulous!!! =)

  2. Here's my opinion, from a comment I just made on another thread about this:

I believe this is either Stevie afraid of the political/media frenzy happening now (or she's in agreement with her people) regarding the death-of-Obama news, speculation about terrorism concerns, and even this report that the U.S. is "more interested in Stevie Nicks' CD than the news of the death of bin Laden".

It's really not the best time for her to do this with all of the other media distractions and controversy.

  3. Anonymous #2, maybe Stevie really DOES have pneumonia. She's run herself ragged over the past several weeks. I wish her a speedy recovery and may she get the rest her body so needs right now!

  4. WHY NOW! This is so upsetting! Just think of ALL the publicity she could've had with the Today Show appearance... I was thinking this appearance would certainly push the album sales up from #2 to #1 on Amazon :( I have tickets to see her in 12 days at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas... I hope she gets better by then.

Our Gypsy Girl stays outta the sun so much she does not get enough Vitamin D! And all this non-stop performing in her sixties!

    GET WELL SOON STEVIE!!!

  5. She's really sick. She has been totally excited about this album and there is not way she would ruin relationships with the Today Show and stuff if she were not sick. I find what second poster said, REPULSIVE.

  6. Wow. Speedy recovery. I had tickets to her 9/14/01 show in NYC that was cancelled because of 9/11...now ObL (again). I hope Webster is rescheduled because I have tickets....Stevie has honored the military with wonderful songs and poems and visits the wounded VA hospitals. She's an Angel.

  7. Fifth poster, I didn't find the second poster's comment repulsive. It does make sense, since it's plastered all over the media today about heightened domestic security risks following ObL's death. Personally I wouldn't be thrilled to fly to New York today, even with perfect health.

  8. @riburbs: Wow! That's kinda chilling when you really think about it - NYC show being canceled in 2001 & now once again...

I'm sure Stevie will reschedule her Today Show appearance as well as her other performances... When it comes to truly caring about her fans, Stevie Nicks is the real deal and will not disappoint... after all, we are her children....

  9. Anonymous number 2, you sound like a horrible, bitter, selfish person. I can just imagine what you look like. Hoping stevie gets well soon and anonymous 2 gets the runs!

  10. cancelling appearances is something stevie would never take lightly---her history has shown that. whatever the reason for the cancellations, i absolutely trust her and know there is a legitimate reason. and also, stevie, if you're not feeling well, your lamp emits love and support and wishes you a full and speedy recovery.

  11. How is #2 being repulsive?

If he/she is guilty of anything, it's using logic.

NYC is on high alert right now and perhaps Stevie was advised to cancel plans.

No one is going to admit they're canceling because they're afraid of safety issues.

  12. Webster Hall is not aware of the show being cancelled. No news about it has made it to Stevie's Facebook, Twitter, or official webpage. Ticketmaster only list that show id sold out. Same info on Webster Hall page. Cant find anything even with a google search.....I am hoping hoping hoping for a mistake.

  13. I enjoy a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but this one makes no sense. Stevie continued to tour and fly after 9/11...when the world was upside down and our country in emotional shambles, our Gypsy Queen took some ribbons and some bows and got back on the road again...I will continue to listen to Glenn Beck for my conspiracy theoies, thank you. Amateurs....

  14. In fact, Stevie did NOT continue to tour and fly for a few weeks after 9-11. Most concert tours, theatre performances, speaking engagements, conventions, etc., etc., etc. were canceled too. When she realized how miserable she was not getting out there and inspiring others, THEN our Gypsy Queen "took some ribbons and some bows and got back on the road again". I love you for that great quote, Tony!

  15. It's pneumonia! It happens! You get sick, you get anti-biotics then get back on the road again! Get well Stevie. Will see ya soon!

  16. I hope she gets well and reschedules the Webster Hall appearance. If not, Ticketmaster better give a 100% refund, including fees.

  17. Hi hope she pays attention to her doctors, pneumonia is not something to fool around with, I know I've had it twice. Stay in bed and drink lots of fluid. I was schedule to go see her this Friday in Atlantic City. Borgata has not announced the cancellation yet. Very upset with Warner Bros who did not keep their word on delivery of Stevie's new CD. No notification yet from them as to when it will be shipped or what the delay is--I upgraded to limited edition so I really can't afford to go and buy the regular CD. Thank God for Rolling Stone's stream.

  18. Her management chose well this time.

  19. Stevie should never have wasted her time being the god damned opening act for Rod Stewart. She's gonna be 63 in a few weeks and should have saved herself for her own CD appearances and tour. I knew it was really bad planning, sometimes I think her people are all idiots. Now she will pay the price and pnemonia is nothing to take lightly at her age.

    REALLY REALLY STUPID ! ! !

  20. Watch, now her whole tour will be cancelled. What moronic planning.

  21. If Stevie Nicks canceled appearances using illness as the reason, then SHE IS ILL.
If there were other reasons she would have stated them. She is as honorable as she is talented.
I hope she feels better soon and takes the time to recover completely. Pneumonia is nothing to fool with at any age!
You will notice I am NOT signing as anonymous??
