So what's really going on with Fleetwood Mac and former member Christine McVie?

Fleetwood Mac

So what's really going on with Fleetwood Mac and former member Christine McVie?

The issue came to light earlier this year when drummer Mick Fleetwood very publicly reached out to McVie, who left the band in 1998 and subsequently moved back to England. Fleetwood's gesture resulted in McVie, formerly married to Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie, visiting the drummer at his home in Maui and also flying to Los Angeles to join the other band members for a reunion dinner.

But Buckingham he doesn't foresee McVie doing much else with the band, and certainly not becoming a full-fledged member again:

  2. Seems to me that Lindsey has an objection about
Christine rejoining the band. I say that because he mentioned in the past that Chris left the band and burnt bridges in LA when she "suddenly" left in 1998, after the Dance. Stevie and Mick knew her burned out state of mind and her flying issues back then also. The fact that Lindsey mentioned he is more free to do more without her also comes into my reasoning.

Chris looks beautiful regardless, and hope to see her on stage in London.

  3. I think Lindsey's inference to "burning bridges" may be causing confusion. Myself, using that term sounds like intentionally severing relationships in a negative way and that is how I interpreted it when he first said that. But lately he kind of clarified what he meant was that Chris cut all her ties to LA and the states by selling her house and relinquishing all her obligations to the music business to return to England to live a private secluded life but didn't leave on bad terms with band. She just wanted out and does not want to return to touring. I think there is still possibilities that she may record with them again.

  4. She looks so elegant! Really beautiful.
It's so amazing to me to hear Lindsey talk about burning bridges, when he left them without a guitarist on the heels of a world tour. He hasn't got any say as to what she does in FM! He says he feels
like more of a guy up there as a four piece. Christine's playing never infringed upon him "being a guy".Her playing was like a bed for his guitar licks to lie on. I think his words are insincere. I hope Chris will at least wish to record on the next FM album.
if not, I hope she records another solo effort. She is really missed.

  5. Hummmm he doesn't sound all that enthusiastic for a return to a quintet.. And... he doesn't have any idea what Mick's agenda was...aside from reaching out to her as a friend to provide some support?? I always love how Lindsey can be so negative while saying all the "right" words...

Christine was a wonderful asset to F M. Miss her so much. I walked down the aisle to her wonderful song "Song Bird". Wish she was still with the band. Hopefully one day and in Australia.

  7. I think there's hard feelings between Christine and both Lindsey & Stevie. Christine essentially ended adding an additional leg of the highly profitable "The Dance" tour when Lindsey and Stevie wanted to continue. Christine refused to continue. Christine had had enough. She left the band.

Fleetwood Mac are masters at playing music and and holding grudges.

Lindsey and Stevie should cut the political correctness BS and call a spade a spade. "We don't want/need her."

  8. What does it take for people to just understand that Christine doesn't want to rejoin Fleetwood Mac and that there's no evil plot to keep her out by Lindsey or Stevie????

  9. Only they know what is truly going on. I accept reality. She isn't a part of the current day band.

  10. Ok had to post, this is to all you idiotic a**clowns yes I said it and I am pretty sure you all know who you are.I know this might be kinda tough for you all, but try to think for a second or two.Do you really think that if she wanted to rejoin the band that Stevie and Lindsey would try and stop her (I mean as if they even really could)!!! As big of a draw they are right now they would be even bigger. They all have egos sure, you wouldn't be a rock star if you didn't.This band of all high profile bands has shown time and time again that it can put any differences the members may have with one another aside for the greater good.Having said that I don't think there is any hard feelings on the part of Lindsey or Stevie towards Christine, or else why would they all meet when she came L.A.?As far as I can tell no one held a gun to their heads. Lindsey also has stated that it was just like old times and they were joking around, having fun, and feeding of each other like the always did musically. As far as the burning bridges comment I think he was trying to communicate the point that she is not coming back because her heart is not in it and she cut all of her professional ties to the band. The "she didn't have do that" comment makes sense in the context of she could still have some ties to the band legally if she wanted to but gave it all up even though she did not have to.I don't think he meant he was mad at her for it, he just did not understand it.I think the real trouble makers are all you guys that get on here and try to stir crap up, because for what ever reason you don't like the current lineup.I mean are they better with Christine, boy that's a tough one(of course they would be DUH captain obvious)!!!I would love to see her come back, but I am realistic enough to understand that it will probably never happen.I just wish you people would get over it and accept it for what it is!!! If you don't like the band and what they are doing then it is real simple don't go see them.I happen to enjoy them and still think they are great, and just because Christine is not with them anymore doesn't mean they are dead yet and/or completely washed up as some of you Debbie downers with an ax to grind would have everyone believe!!!

  11. Since she is a very private person, we really all are assuming she's in a position to return and just refuses. My guess is she may have some health issues preventing her from being part of the Mac machine.

  12. Her 2004 solo album is titled "In the Meantime." Why a solo album at that time and why that title? Hmmm...

  13. Stop all the drama over her by never asking her to tour again.

  14. There's no drama other than Mick sort of starting the whole thing. Lets face it they have lost an integral part of the equation. I would never say never. We know she won't fly...much. well there are luxury buses. I would never say never with these people. As regards Chris, she came to the U.S, she flew, she got up on stage .....all things we thought would never happen. In addition she's presented awarded this past week. So....something is different about our Christine...and it's good. Even if touring is out, recording is not I do Mick reads these, she's needed on their next record of 10 or 12 songs. The fact is we do not know what's going on BTS,
but, we've scene too many changes to not
be in anticipation. Never say never.
