Interview: Stevie Nicks estimates what she currently does will go on 6-7 more years - then on to Art

Interview with Ultimate Classic Rock:
Stevie Nicks tells Ultimate Classic Rock that if she ever decides to record another album, she couldn't do it in the 'In Your Dreams' house... she'd have to move to a different house.

She also says that what she currently does will likely go on another 6-7 years, then she'll flip over to Art. She would really like to show the art / drawings she's worked on for years and for the most part have kept away from the world.

More from Ultimate Classic Rock
Stevie sat down for interviews in December upon the release of her "In Your Dreams" documentary... Below she speaks to Ultimate Classic Rock about working with Soldiers, working alongside Dave Stewart producing the film and how Dave Grohl jump started the documentary

  1. I got a couple things out of this interview, wow ! that hit me that 6 or 7 yrs left after ruffly 40years in the music business. time is getting near fior her. that will be be some sad times for everyone involed her, band members, her family and we the fans. secondly not known if she would be serious enough about that when the time comes yes she wants to do her art work. But think it would be hard for her to walk away from it when its time. This is all she has ever known in those 40 years. I do know if she does walk away, that she will not try to come back cuz it could harder for her to come back a few years later because of her age years down the road and if it does not work out to well. Then I dont want to remember her that way in the end of her career. But she deserves to play it the way she feels it. It will be a sad day for her and her fans. I don't want to ever think of that day! God Bless you Stevie

  3. I agree - it's only natural for human beings to seek new adventures and journeys and recording a new album in Tara would feel, no matter what she did, like IYD Part II. I think she should rent a beautiful old haunted house and record there. But we definitely need one more feature-length Stevie album.

  4. I think she should go on for as long as she and FM are extremely popular and successful :)

  6. I have her Rhiannon print over my bed I bought in Silver Springs Emporium and if you could see the detail as I admire it you can see she really does have talent, It's beautiful. Since I bought it I have often thought about her other work. Could be interesting. As much as I hate to see the stage shows end, age is a natural thing and her art could at least keep her out there for us to continue to watch and admire.

  8. When you factor in amount of time spent touring, I think it would be unrealistic to expect anything more than one more real Fleetwood Mac record and one more Stevie Nicks record. I do love her art. I love how so much of it was used as backdrop for the Live in Chicago show, I would love the opportunity to purchase some of it.

A thought struck me though ... what if the band (and Stevie by herself) stopped going on mammoth global treks? What if they just did mini-tours, you know, twelve shows, come home and rest, record some more, go back out for another twelve shows ... I admire them for doing what they do, though, and showing so many younger artists how to stay viable.

  11. It's sad to think that she has 'the end' in mind. We're all only human, but it'd be great to see her/FM go on as long as they possibly can and as long as they want to. We should never put a time limit on things like this, because we get set on a schedule and even if we're not ready to stop, we make ourselves think it's time to throw in the towel.

  12. @ two anonymous comments up - A Wiki search on Tara reveals that " in Tibetan Buddhism, is a female Bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism who appears as a female Buddha in Vajrayana Buddhism. She is known as the "mother of liberation", and represents the virtues of success in work and achievements."

That seems more likely to represent the creative process. If the environment within the house brought back her creative muse, it could be seen as her creative liberation for that time period. Just a guess, who knows. The only other thing I could find on Tara that popped up on the first page of Google (that was relevant) references 'Gone With the Wind.' Tara was the name of the fictional plantation. It could be neither explanation, but if it is one of those two, the female Buddha makes more sense (to me, anyway).

  13. Stevie commented in several 2011 interviews that her "white house close to the ocean" reminded her of Tara from Gone with the wind. She also said it was her Alice in wonderland house because it was big and grand. Dave Stewart responded to a fans inquiry on his Facebook page and said that only certain parts of the house would Stevie allowed to be filmed. Her bedroom, sitting room and bathroom were off limits

  14. What is the name of the song that was never on the old albums but is on the 40th anniversary album?
"We also recorded a very old Buckingham Nicks song that we loved and couldn't figure out why it didn't go on the album. It got brushed under the carpet somehow. We recorded it, so that's a third song."

  16. Thank you Anonymous. Seems there's two songs with the same title. ?? One with Buckingham Nicks and one with Fleetwood Mac. I'm interested in knowing about the story behind that. I'm going anonymous too! lol
