Fleetwood Mac: Could this be the early signs of a NEW Album??...

Mark Goodier interviewed Dave Stewart on July 26th for his radio program on Smooth Radio in Glasgow... Mark Tweeted that Dave said he was producing a Fleetwood Mac EP.  The interview aired on Smooth Radio with Mark July 27th.  The interview hasn't been posted yet to the Smooth Radio site to re-listen so I can't hear the exact context in which this statement was made... but
I WANT TO HEAR IT!

Great News if it happens!... I think Dave will do a phenomenal job!

Stevie Nicks and Dave Stewart make a good team

Stevie Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac.

By Jules E. Beuck
Highland News

She has also had quite a solo career as well. This year saw her touring with Rod Stewart and marked the release of a new Stevie Nicks album. The title of the album is “In Your Dreams” and features thirteen tracks.

Nicks’ back-up musicians include Waddy Wachtel on guitar, Dave Stewart guitar, and Mike Campbell (from Tom Petty’s band) guitar and bass. What helps this album the most is the producers. It is co-produced by Glen Ballard and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics.

Ballard is well known in the business for his songwriting and producing talents. He has worked with many major artists including Alanis Morissette and Aerosmith.

However, Stewart’s influence is felt much more than Ballard’s. For example, he co-wrote seven of the songs on the album.

The first song on the album and first single “Secret Love” has Stewart’s stamp as it starts and ends as if in the middle. “Ghosts Are Gone” has a Eurhythmics feel to it. It also is a very energetic Rocker.

“In Your Dreams” also has the energy that Stewart brings to his work.

"Sweet Dreams" Full Page Q&A with Stevie Nicks with a Great Photo

From Australia Herald Sun July 28, 2011
This originally ran online at The Daily Telegraph yesterday.

Stevie Nicks on writing her memoirs, the Rhiannon movie + Miley covering Landslide

The Daily Telegraph Australia

STEVIE Nicks is returning to Australia to promote her new solo album without her band Fleetwood Mac, who toured Australia to widespread acclaim in December 2009.

But Stevie Nicks - click for video - is bringing Dave Stewart, famous for being one half of The Eurythmics, and former Westlife singer Brain McFadden, who broke up with Nick Jonas' new girlfriend Delta Goodrem in April.

What's a Stevie Nicks solo setlist like in 2011? Presumably you play solo and Fleetwood Mac material?

Yeah. But not a whole lot of new songs. I remember when (Fleetwood Mac's) Rumours came out we went out and just did all those Rumours songs and just about got booed off the stage. You have to be careful when you do your setlist when you have a new record out, you can't just play all new songs. People will go 'Excuse me, we're not even familiar with these songs yet'. You have to weave some new ones in with the old ones. They can enjoy the new ones but aren't thinking, 'OK what song we love did you take out to play this song we don't know'.

Secret Love from your new album In Your Dreams is an unreleased song from the '70s. How many songs are in your vault?

Many. Many. In the beginning the reason I did a solo record was I was in a band like Fleetwood Mac with three writers. We used to get four songs an album. All the other five or six songs you wrote that didn't make it, they're usually just as good as what went on. Between '75 and '81 I had four or five or six really good songs from each album recording process that went in the vault.

Glee recently did an entire episode dedicated to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. You're a Glee fan. You must have been in heaven.

Review: Stevie Nicks 'In Your Dreams' "Her voice and mystique are showcased in all their gypsy glory"

Stevie Nicks
In Your Dreams
by Tina Haase Findlay
Jambands

She could have twirled off to golden-oldie land, resting comfortably on her Gold Dust laurels. She could have taken her forty years’ worth of credentials and retired to a castle in the hills, like her one-time Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie. But Stevie Nicks shows us with her seventh solo release, In Your Dreams, that she and her mysterious glamour aren’t leaving anytime soon, offering her finest collection of tunes since her breakthrough solo debut, Bella Donna, in 1981.

Faithful followers of this melodic enchantress are well aware that two key ingredients of the Nicks appeal are singular lyric lines and scattered breathtaking moments, as much as entire songs. This principle is in full force here, from her sensual opening line in “Secret Love”, an invitation to “come on, it’s time to go upstairs,” all the way to the wistful coos in the two closing gems, “Italian Summer” and “Cheaper Than Free,” the latter a duet with the project’s main producer, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame. Always to his credit, Stewart artfully demonstrates a universal knack for bringing out the best in a female musical partner.

A mid-tempo, mid-album block of three songs- “New Orleans,” “Moonlight (Vampire’s Dream)” (inspired by the Bella and Edward “Twilight” romance), and a newly-arranged take on Poe’s “Annabel Lee,”- sounds sufficiently pleasant, yet somewhat repetitive at first, given the fact that all are in the same musical key with similar rhythm and pacing. Eventually, the unique poetic nuances of each do emerge, aided by the ever-stellar harmony vocals of Stevie’s longtime ladies-in-waiting, Sharon Celani and Lori Nicks.

The choice of a first single can make or break any album, and the pristine vanilla pop of “Secret Love” may not have been the best choice. Some critics would identify such choices as familiar tactical errors of past Stevie solo projects as well. It’s a nice enough, largely undemanding volley into today’s postmodern, musically-eclectic arena; designed as an effort to blend in with the perceived “hip and relevant” sonic palette and undoubtedly helped along by her recent pop culture star power moments on Dancing With The Stars, The Voice, the Fleetwood Mac episode of Glee, and even The Oprah Winfrey Show.

However, where Miss Nicks has always excelled is in the visiting of her extremes. On the ballad side, the new original “For What It’s Worth” possesses gentle “Landslide”-esque loveliness. And the album’s most potent emotional highlight is “Soldier’s Angel”, featuring her legendary romantic partner-in-rhyme Lindsey Buckingham, and is a stunning reminder of the greatness that transpires when the stars of Buckingham Nicks collide. At the other extreme of uptempo vigor and sass, Nicks gives it in spades on the straight-ahead rocker “Ghosts Are Gone” and the unexpectedly peppy title cut which defies its dreamy pedigree and is much more “in-your-face” than “in-your-sleep.”

All in all, kudos are due to Stevie for this stand-out addition to her catalog. Praise must also go to Dave Stewart for his infusions of creativity and playfulness into these proceedings. He’s such a hero of this project that his picture is on the back cover, right next to the still ravishingly alluring Stevie who, along with Kirstie Alley, could be a spokesmodel for the slogan, “60 is the new 40.” Her voice and mystique are showcased in all their gypsy glory, wrapped up in her signature fierce, yet feminine, storytelling style. And every so often, for those who are listening most closely, there are vocal moments that truly recall the sheer brilliance of the chart-topping, globe-trotting Stevie days gone by. Simply put, she continues after all these years to ring like a bell through the night, and her international legion of fans still love to love her.

NEW and Noteworthy! Lindsey Buckingham at Buffalo Chip + Stevie with Maroon 5

Today we learned that Stevie Nicks will be joining Adam Levine and his Maroon 5 co-horts at the Hollywood Bowl tonight as a Special Guest... What they'll perform?  Who knows!... Who cares!  It's exciting, and who ever is going will be receiving a lovely treat!

Also learned today that Reverbnation and Eventful are both reporting that Lindsey Buckingham will be appearing at Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD on August 11th with Jeff Bridges, John Fogerty and Stevie Nicks as part of the All Star Event being assembled for The American Thunder Music Festival a benefit for The Bob Woodruff Foundation.  The music festival is in celebration of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families. Reprise Records (Stevie's label) confirmed Stevie's appearance last week via press release stating that Stevie would be performing 'Soldiers Angel', a new track from In Your Dreams, a song that is also a collaboration with Lindsey Buckingham.  It makes complete sense that she'd play the song during the show, but at first I thought how would she do it without Buckingham?  Now with these two sites reporting his attendance, it's all falling into place.  Hope they haven't jumped the gun!  Contact music also reported that Jeff and Stevie would be performing together, but that can be taken both way... So we'll see

Thanks for the info Elle!

Plus... Dossier Journal will have an interview with Stevie Nicks by T. Cole Rachel in their next issue...

Wow! Stevie Nicks sounds amazing on the Buddy Holly Tribute!

Buddy Holly
Behind the scenes of new tribute CD

Listen to Me: Buddy Holly compilation features recordings by Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, Brian Wilson, Zooey Deschanel, Patrick Stump, Jackson Brown, Lyle Lovett and Natalie Merchant. (Perhaps the two factions can meet up and compete against each other somehow. Softball game, maybe?)

In this video, you can watch the stars behind Listen to Me: Buddy Holly record their tracks in the studio and talk about the influence of Holly on their own work.

Listen to Me: Buddy Holly will be available in stores on September 6th – the day before what would have been Holly's 75th birthday – and proceeds from the set will go to numerous music-related organizations, including The GRAMMY Foundation's "GRAMMY Camps" and Artists' House Music, that support the artistic growth and professional development of young musicians.

Press Release:

Listen To Me: Buddy Holly: New Tribute CD Out Sept. 6, 2011

LISTEN TO ME: BUDDY HOLLY CELEBRATES 75TH BIRTHDAY OF ONE OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL’S MOST INFLUENTIAL PIONEERS

COLLECTION FEATURES MODERN TAKES ON HOLLY’S CLASSIC HITS PERFORMED BY RINGO STARR, STEVIE NICKS, THE FRAY, IMELDA MAY, ZOOEY DESCHANEL, JACKSON BROWNE, NATALIE MERCHANT, JEFF LYNNE, BRIAN WILSON AND MORE

STAR-STUDDED NEW ALBUM EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY PETER ASHER

LISTEN TO ME: BUDDY HOLLY ARRIVES VIA VERVE/ FORECAST IN US AND eOne MUSIC CANADA ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2011

(New York, NY) Songmasters announces the upcoming release of Listen To Me: Buddy Holly, an extraordinary new collection featuring contemporary takes on songs originally written and performed by the late, great Buddy Holly. The album – presented as part of Songmasters’ innovative Listen To Me: Buddy Holly multi-media campaign – arrives in stores and at all digital retailers via Verve/Forecast Records in the US and in eOne Music Canada on September 6, 2011. International release follows.

Listen To Me: Buddy Holly features a remarkable line-up of artists paying tribute to the iconic work of an artist many consider to be the first true “singer/songwriter” performer of the rock ‘n’ roll era. Among those contributing brand-new recordings to the collection are Stevie Nicks, Patrick Stump, Jeff Lynne, Natalie Merchant, Imelda May, Lyle Lovett, Jackson Browne, The Fray, Cobra Starship, Brian Wilson, Chris Isaak, Pat Monahan (of Train), Zooey Deschanel, Eric Idle, and the one and only Ringo Starr. The album will include the incomparable version of “That’ll Be The Day” recorded originally by Linda Ronstadt and produced by Asher. Never bested, this track remains, according to Asher, the most outstanding version of that Holly classic available.

“We are trying to keep Buddy Holly’s name alive so younger generations can appreciate it the way I do,” says Brian Wilson. “Buddy is unique. He matters because his music is timeless.”

Listen To Me: Buddy Holly is Executive Produced by multiple GRAMMY Award-winning producer/artist/manager/executive Peter Asher, whose own personal connection to Holly’s music goes back to 1965, when Peter & Gordon’s timeless cover of “True Love Ways” proved a massive hit both here and in the U.K. In addition, Asher produced Linda Ronstadt’s smash renditions of “It’s So Easy” and “That’ll Be The Day,” both of which served to further bolster the amazing durability of Holly’s legacy.

“Buddy showed us how brilliant and unforgettable songs could be written using the simplest of chords,” says Asher. “He taught us the value of a lyric which came from the heart and the importance of making records the way you heard them in your head. His music has never ceased to play a major role in my life and work.”

Boasting a line-up hailed by Holly’s widow, Maria Elena, as “fantastic,” Listen To Me: Buddy Holly stands tall among the many tribute albums devoted to Holly’s work. These exceptional interpretations, produced by Asher and performed by artists whose own noteworthy careers span three generations of post-Buddy rock ‘n’ roll, create an innovative collection of “modern authentics” that showcase the versatility, range, and across-the-board appeal of Buddy’s music.

“Nothing that’s happened since [the beginning of rock] can really obscure the power and influence of Buddy’s original records and his contribution to music,” declared Jackson Browne in his studio session for the album. “Things that are immortal have a way of continuing to be born in the world.”

Ringo Starr (who contributes a delightful take on “Think It Over” to the album) put it plainly: “In the whole of rock ‘n’ roll history, he’s in the top 10!”

The Listen To Me: Buddy Holly campaign celebrates what would have been Holly’s 75th birthday by honoring his brief but brilliant life and career through an astonishing range of events, recordings, and charitable programs over the next year. September 7th – Holly’s birthday – will see the long awaited unveiling of Holly’s much-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – a permanent public monument to a genuinely noteworthy artist. Peter Asher will be among the featured speakers at the event, which will be hosted by the owners and publishers of Holly’s catalog.

Ultimate Buddy Party Invite Only V.I.P. Concert Event at The Music Box Theatre - September 7, 2011.  Event to be Filmed For Broadcast

That evening, a number of the stars featured on Listen To Me: Buddy Holly – along with special surprise guest artists and friends and family from Holly’s too-brief life – will team up for Songmasters’ “Ultimate Buddy Party,” an invitation-only V.I.P. concert event to be held at The Music Box in Hollywood. Asher will serve as the evening’s musical supervisor, with the performers backed by a stellar house band led by renowned session guitarist, Waddy Wachtel. The concert event will be shot live in HD for broadcast starting with PBS’ December 2011 pledge drive, followed by a deluxe DVD/CD release. Further details will be announced prior to that release.

Stevie Nicks on 'America's Got Talent' July 27th

Stevie Nicks has lined up another TV appearance
According to a posting on Keyboardist Ricky Petersons Facebook page (Thank you Ricky), Stevie will be appearing on America's Got Talent next Wednesday, July 27th.

Hmmm... What will she perform?  With Ricky there as well, it's obvious that it's a full on band performance!

Thoughts?

Lindsey Buckingham Adds A November Date + Stevie Nicks Adds an Opening Act

Lindsey Buckingham extended his tour dates into November by adding a date on November 12th in Salina, Kansas at the Stiefel Theatre. On sale dates haven't been announced yet. They will go on sale via Ticketmaster with ticket prices ranging from $39 - $47.

Stevie mentioned in various interviews that Lindsey was touring until Christmas, and with this November date, it looks like we can see the month of November start to fill up!  Hey Lindsey... How about Providence!

Stevie Nicks has approached Michael Grimm to be her opening act on the North American portion of her In Your Dreams Tour running August 9th through September 4th. Lots of buzz going on at Michaels Facebook page with this announcement. Final dates that Michael will appear haven't been determined yet... More to come.  Michael Grimm was the winner on the 5th season of America's Got Talent.

Tickets for both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks can be found on either Ticketmaster or Live Nation.

Tours are hot again (Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks Make Top 10)

Big acts mean bigger numbers

Ticket sales for concerts are up even though prices are higher With acts like U2, Kenny Chesney, Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga leading the way, the concert touring business is enjoying a healthy comeback this year after struggling in 2010.

In the first six months of 2011, total grosses for the top 100 North American tours was $ 1.12 billion. That’s up $ 157 million or 16.2% over the same period last year, according to Pollstar, which tracks the live music industry. The total number of tickets sold was 16.7 million, a 5.3% increase, but surprisingly, the average ticket price was up 10.2%, or $ 6.25, to a record $ 67.02.

Through the end of June, U2’ s 360 tour was the runaway top moneymaker, raking in $ 85.8 million and selling 979,000 tickets to 14 North American stadium shows with an average gross of $ 7.8 million.

Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni says artists and promoters have helped the upturn by taking a more conservative approach in terms of venue size, frequency of return to certain markets and number of markets played. He says the higher prices weren’t expected coming off a year with lower grosses and ticket sales. But many of this year’s shows offer audiences good value for their dollars.

" What’s happening is that some artists are combining with a stronger support act, almost a co-bill situation,” Bongiovanni says, pointing to package tours such as Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys, and George Strait, Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack.

Stevie Nicks performed her most recent single "For What It's Worth"

Stevie Nicks Credits Iconic Onstage Looks To Weight Gain

Lady Gaga may have cornered the meat dress market and Rihanna may have a patent on her whips and chains costumes but when it comes to creating an on-stage persona, these girls take a backseat to the original fashion forward performer -- Stevie Nicks.

“It was very conscious to have a look,” Nicks tells me. “I went out in 1973 with Fleetwood Mac and just went out and packed a suitcase with my street clothes. We stayed at very nice hotels and I immediately gained 10 lbs. I was horrified every single day trying to put together some kind of an acceptable outfit to wear on stage. So when I got home from that tour I met with a designer and said I need a uniform, I need something that is fantastic that I can wear. I need two skirts, two leotards, two pairs of fantastic boots, a little English riding jacket [and] a long black chiffon scarf. I need like the Donna Karen’s seven pieces. And she made it.”

Soon Nicks' style wasn't only making its appearance onstage but on the streets across the country -- fans and non-fans alike wanted a piece of her gothic Bohemian look.

“I loved seeing people dressed like me because I thought this is just like creating a song,” Nicks laughs. “Creating this outfit is like creating a song. Yesterday I spent all day at the very same designer designing 17 new outfits. I’m still, to this day, putting together really great little things. I’m single handedly bringing back the Victorian ball gown.”

Earlier this month Nicks celebrated her seventh solo album, "In Your Dreams," and is planning on a Fall tour. "In Your Dreams" has debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 52,000 copies in its first week.

“When I write in my journal, as opposed to going back and reading what I wrote last night or a week ago, I tend to say better to just keep going than spend your time reading what you already wrote,” Nicks tells me. “I don’t want to be inspired by what I already wrote. I don’t want to rewrite "Edge Of Seventeen" and I also don’t listen to other music either especially when I’m getting ready to do a record. I don’t want to subconsciously take something from someone else. I want it to be totally from me. So I pretty much live in an instrumental world. If I’m listening to music when I’m not working I’m listening to instrumental music.”

And not looking back seems to be working for the singer -- according to the 63-year-old, she only gets better with age.

“I think this is really my best album and I say that as humbly as possible," Nicks says. "But I believe that."

Stevie Nicks to Join Jeff Bridges and John Fogerty at American Thunder Music Festival at Legendary Sturgis, Buffalo Chip August 11, 2011

All-Star Concert Will Benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation, in Celebration of the Men and Women of the United States Military and Their Families

STURGIS, SD--(Marketwire - Jul 19, 2011) - The first annual American Thunder Music Festival has added Stevie Nicks to the lineup that already includes John Fogerty. The all-star concert is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 11th, at the Legendary Buffalo Chip.

"I am honored to join Jeff Bridges for this show in support of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. I feel proud to show my love for returning vets and their families and to honor their bravery," commented Nicks -- a longtime supporter of returning vets. Nicks' new CD, "In Your Dreams," includes the poignant, Nicks penned original song "Soldiers Angel" which she was inspired to write following her many visits to Walter Reed Hospital and Bethesda Medical Center. Nicks will be performing the song at the Festival and it is sure to be one of many highlights of this historic show.

"Stevie's support for the men and women who serve is almost as legendary as her voice," said Bridges. "Her songs and distinctive voice have become part of the very fabric of America."

"With so many service men and women returning from the battle field, it's critical that we honor their service by helping them return to their local communities," said Bob Woodruff, ABC News Anchor, and Co-Founder of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. "Because there are people like Jeff Bridges, John Fogerty and Stevie Nicks, who lend their distinctive voices to this cause, I have no doubt our fellow Americans will help us say 'thank you' to those who serve."

"Stevie Nicks' song 'Soldiers Angel' is the most beautiful song I've ever heard about wounded warriors and those who comfort them," said David Clark, founder of American Thunder. "We're all honored to have her participate."

Funds raised at American Thunder will benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation that invests in programs that connect troops to the services they need, including physical rehabilitation and counseling, education, employment and financial assistance, as well as help with larger issues like homelessness and suicide.
