Stevie Nicks American Thunder Music Festival Airs March 18th

Hold on to your microphones... Stevie's American Thunder Music Festival appearance will be broadcast on HDNet
March 18, 2012

The inaugural American Thunder Music Festival, a benefit concert for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, made history in front of an audience of over 50,000 fans on August 11, 2011 in Sturgis, SD when Jeff Bridges hosted and performed along with Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty.

Stevie Nicks performed in the midst of a howling thundering windstorm and tornado warnings.  The dramatic performance of Stevie performing "Soldiers Angel", one of 4 songs she performed that day, was captured on film from the side of the stage and published on youtube shortly after.

This will be a show you do not want to miss!  The images and film piece of Stevie performing in that wind storm have already gone down in the history books as some of the most dramatic of her career!  Just one more moment from this past amazing year!  The video below of her singing "Soldiers Angel" backs it up.

In hindsight it's a little scary watching the footage knowing what happened in Indianapolis during the Sugarland concert and the outdoor stage just a few days later.  You can see the nervousness in Stevie's handlers on the side of the stage - but Stevie soldiers on!  Thankfully nothing happened and we are left with another great performance - and one to look forward to in the next while on TV.

AIR DATE
American Thunders broadcast partners include HDNet which have the show listed and airing March 18, 2012.

Legendary rockers Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks have announced plans to reunite this summer and reprise their highly acclaimed, co-headlining “Heart & Soul Tour.”

“I couldn’t be happier to be back on the boards with Stevie this summer,” Stewart said in a release “We had fantastic fun on the road together last spring and I’m thrilled at the chance to bring it to new cities and fans this summer.”

The pair's previous tour featured 3-hour performances, with individual sets by Stewart and Nicks, plus a handful of duets.

Tickets for the Nashville concert are $52-$152 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Fri. March 2 through the Bridgestone Arena ticket office, all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

In a career spanning five decades, Rod Stewart has amassed an estimated 250 million in album and single sales and an incredible 16 Grammy nominations.  In April he will join the elite list of artists who are 2x Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (as a solo artist and soon as a member of the seminal 60s rock band, the Faces). On March 24, he will return to Las Vegas for an 8-concert-run of "The Hits" - part of his immensely popular first residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Stevie Nicks is a multi-Grammy Award Winner as a solo artist and member of the legendary Fleetwood Mac and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.  Her new CD "In Your Dreams" debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and has received glowing reviews from numerous outlets, including US Magazine who declared it "the best album of Nicks' four decade career."

Stevie Nicks to play herself on NBC's "Up All Night"

Music legend Stevie Nicks is coming to NBC’s comedy Up All Night.

The singer will play herself in a guest-star appearance on the show. In an episode airing later this season, Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Ava (Maya Rudolph) will need to woo Stevie to get her to be on Ava’s talk show. The Fleetwood Mac singer’s last TV guest-star appearance was on Fox’s The X Factor last year.

As part of NBC’s midseason comedy plan, Up All Night will stick around in its 9:30 p.m. Thursday night slot for all of its 24 episodes. After, Parks & Rec will return April 19.

Fleetwood Mac founder Mick Fleetwood's restaurant set to open in Lahaina in early summer

Renovations Begin for Fleetwood’s on Front Street
by: Daniel Weiss
The Maui Weekly

Fleetwood Mac founder Mick Fleetwood's newest masterpiece is a venture into the restaurateur world. Fleetwood's on Front Street and Fleetwood's Wine Cellar is set to open in Lahaina in early summer.

The restaurant will employ 100-plus people, and will embrace the Hawaiian culture and feature storytelling. Fleetwood himself will perform on a semi-regular basis along with surprise and esteemed musical guests performers.

Fleetwood's business partner, Jonathan Todd, said, "The restaurant space will look like a casbah meets Ralph Lauren meets colonial British Mick Fleetwood, and its changing and morphing as the process moves along."

Hawaiian Native Vene Chun presided over the traditional Hawaiian blessing last month, calling upon "na 'aumakua," ancestral guardians. Beginning with the blowing the conch and chanting, he used a tealeaf (a symbol of purification) to spread water (to give new life to the space) and sea salt (considered the amniotic fluid of Mother Earth), which reenergizes and revitalizes the spirits to rejuvenate everything in the building.

The blessing was followed by the initial demolition of the former restaurant's interior. An 1899 Langtry sign that adorned the back of one of the former restaurant's booths was salvaged and will be framed to hang on the walls of the new restaurant after renovations are complete. This was a particularly apropos, considering Langtry was one of the first locations of Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar Wines.

Fleetwood paid tribute to his late father, whose watch he wore to the ceremony and affectionately spoke about his mother, Bridget, who was in attendance.

"It's been a long time in dreaming of doing this," he said. "Mum, Mummy she knows way too much about me, but she knew me back in the day I was aspiring to play drums back when I was at the ripe old age of 9 or 10 years old. And mum and dad gave me part of their house, which were the stables, which we called Club Keller. And to me and mum, this [Fleetwood's on Front Street] is Club Keller. This was where I played drums, where I aspired to dream of going to London and began believing in something that might not be believable."

(Video) He's back... Lindsey Buckingham Once Again on SNL "What Up With That"

SNL sketch "What Up With That" with Kenan Thompson featuring Lindsey Buckingham, (portrayed by Bill Hader), was back on tonight during the latest episode of Saturday Night Live. Along with Lindsey, this week’s guest were Kate Upton and Bill O’Reilly.  Kenan called this Lindsey's 100th appearance - which it could very well be... I lost count on the number of times over the last couple of years Bill Hader has played Lindsey... His character never gets to speak, which is kind of the punch line.

Check out tonights sketch here

Bill Hader’s Lindsey Buckingham once again got screwed out of a chance to talk. Kenan Thompson’s host claimed that Hader’s Fleetwood Mac star would get a chance to display his special Presidents Day talent on a video on the fictional show’s website, only to reveal that that’s not actually a thing they do. Well, it turns out that he was wrong as SNL has now released the video online.

Lindsey Buckingham honors our nation's Presidents when he's finally given a chance to speak.

Arizona the state turns 100 today.  Newspaper dedicated to all things Arizona... Listing out all the music celebrities from Arizona that were a success.

Arizona has sent its share of pop stars to the Hot 100 in its first 100 years while serving as a launching pad for several acts, from Waylon Jennings to the Meat Puppets, whose impact can't be measured by that yardstick.

Stevie Nicks
Born in Phoenix, Stevie Nicks took "Dreams" to No. 1 with Fleetwood Mac. But as a solo act, her highest-charting single was the one that launched her as a solo artist, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." Recorded with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, it peaked at No. 3 in 1981. Her other Top-10 hits were "Stand Back" (No. 5) and two songs that were certified gold -- 1981's "Leather and Lace" (a duet with Don Henley that peaked at No. 6) and "Talk to Me" (No. 4).

Interscope Records' Jimmy Iovine:
'Lana Del Rey's Voice Haunts Me the Way Stevie Nicks' Did'

After a video segment featuring several vintage clips of Iovine working in the studio, the Interscope Geffen A&M chairman took some time to reflect on his tenure in the industry, thanking many in the room personally. He then introduced his latest signing, Lana Del Rey, who performed her breakout song, “Video Games”.

The sexy newcomer has been the subject of much controversy in recent weeks after a shaky TV debut on Saturday Night Live. But the 25-year-old beauty clearly has Iovine in her corner. He called her “an incredible girl” and told the crowd that Interscope has “a real commitment to her “ just moments after complimenting Nicks, standing nearby, for her one-of-a-kind voice. “I dare anybody to tell me that’s shit’s not amazing,” said Iovine of Del Rey’s debut album, Born to Die. “It’s left-of-center, it doesn’t sound like anything on the radio, it’s not trying to be anything to anyone…”

The Hollywood Reporter asked Iovine if was in fact comparison Del Rey to the iconic Nicks. His answer? “Lana haunts me the way that Stevie's voice haunted me and I just love her album so much,” he said. “But I can't compare anybody to Stevie Nicks because Stevie has the greatest tone of any female rock singer that I've ever heard.”

Rumour Has It...

Stevie Nicks may be performing May 20th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles during the California Music Festival & Aids Walk.  Other performers rumoured to be on the bill:  Cher and Stevie Wonder.

As of now, this is just a rumour... They haven't actually announced the musical line-up for the night.

RUMOURS Track by Track with Ken Caillat... Reflects on 35th Anniversary

Fleetwood Mac's classic album Rumours track-by-track
Producer Ken Caillat reflects on 35th anniversary

"Records like Rumours don't happen anymore," says Ken Caillat, who along with Richard Dashut and Fleetwood Mac produced the 1977 mega album that has sold a mind-boggling 44 million copies. "We spent a year and a lot of hell working on it. Lives were changed, people changed, everything became different. Something like Rumours could never happen these days. A record label would have shut us down after two weeks."

The soap opera that attended the making of Rumours has been extensively documented - married band members John and Christine McVie broke up, as did lovers Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks; even Mick Fleetwood's marriage dissolved, as well - and Caillat confirms that 1976 was a wild ride. "There were fights, breakups, drinking, drugs... We all indulged in substances. But I had to be a therapist and record producer. When everything was insane, I had to be sane. If there was a rule book, nobody game me one."

Although 1975's self-titled release was rising up the charts during the making of Rumours, Caillat says that the band was still learning how to play together. "Basically, you had two teams: Christine, John and Mick, the three Brits, were pros, and the two Americans, Lindsey and Stevie, had their shorthand, but they were still new to the group. During the making of Rumours, they became a real band, one that was very intuitive, musically and otherwise.”

This intuition lent itself to songwriting. Rather than work with demos, the group's principle writers - Buckingham, Nicks and Christine McVie - would present live fragments of ideas for the group to build work on. "Richard and I had to capture light in a bottle," says Caillat. "The band would be tuning up, and before you knew it, a song was going down. John and Mick would hear something, they'd start playing, and we had to react fast. That kind of creativity doesn't happen these days - it's frowned upon. In 2012, a band has to have a committee approve their songs. Can you imagine Fleetwood Mac making Rumours under such conditions?"

Released on 4 February 1977, Rumours hit like a meteor, permanently altering the landscape of all involved. "Like Richard Dashut, I went from being a mid-level engineer to a Grammy-winning producer in one year," says Caillat. "The record was like Jaws and Star Wars combined. Everybody saw those movies, and everybody during that time bought a copy of Rumours."

In his forthcoming book, Making Rumours: The Inside Story Of The Classic Fleetwood Mac Album, Ken Caillat and Steve Stiefel recount the producer's year behind the glass in brilliant, page-turning detail. "It's amazing how everything came flooding back to me once I started the book," says Caillat. "It's one thing to remember cutting a number one song, but to think about what I was wearing that same day, that's incredible.

"But that's the kind of record Rumours is: You remember your first time hearing it. You even remember where you were when when you heard it. Not every album has that power. This one does. I was just lucky to be a part of it."

On the following pages, Ken Caillat takes a track-by-track look back at Rumours. To order his book, Making Rumours: The Inside Story Of The Classic Fleetwood Mac Album, click here.
