Empire of the Sun gets tongues wagging with picture of band with Fleetwood Mac legend Lindsey Buckingham

The Daily Telegraph
by Christine Sams

THE leading Australian musicians from Empire of the Sun have the industry buzzing about their recording sessions with Fleetwood Mac legend Lindsey Buckingham.

After studio sessions in May, which included an appearance by Buckingham’s son Will, the band’s new project is generating hype here and overseas — mainly because of speculation about whether a single from the session will be released.

An EMI executive in Australia, Scott Horscroft, has reposted images of the band during the Buckingham recording sessions, teasing music fans with the line #StayTunedEmpyreans.

Horscroft also now owns the iconic Grove Studios and has himself produced tracks for bands including The Presets, Silverchair and Sleepy Jackson (Luke Steele’s band before his Empire of the Sun days).

But it’s not only Empire of the Sun fans showing anticipation about potential new music, Buckingham’s legion of Fleetwood Mac fans are also waiting with interest. There have been numerous postings about Buckingham’s studio sessions with the Australian musicians on fan sites.

For music industry bservers, there is also a strong Pnau tie-in to the Lindsey Buckingham sessions, as Nick Littlemore (one half of both Pnau and Empire of the Sun) was there with his Pnau bandmate Peter Mayes.

It was Mayes who initially posted pics of the session with Buckingham.

In what appears to be an ultimate Aussie muso love-in with the Fleetwood Mac legend is sure to turn into one of the more anticipated projects of the year.

Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere" single certified Silver in the UK + Rumours Re-enters US Charts

2013 UK single cover
Available on iTunes
Great news for Christine's "Everywhere" single from the "Tango In The Night" album... It was certified SILVER in the UK by the BPI on July 4, 2014 signifying sales in excess of 200,000 units since it's release.

The songs renewed popularity in the UK began in early 2013, twenty five years after it's initial release and success in the UK all thanks to cell phone provider 'THREE' and it's marketing campaign focusing on the cute little dancing pony (see video). Not long after the commercial began airing in the UK and made available on-line, the song re-entered the UK Singles Chart peaking as high as No.15 giving Fleetwood Mac their first top 20 hit in the UK in 25 years. Incidentally their last top 20 hit in 1988 just happened to be "Everywhere" which peaked at No.4! Later in 2013 "Everywhere" was also included on the new music compilation released in the UK called "Now That's What I Call Music 84".

With streaming music gaining in popularity worldwide and the change in the UK in June to include streaming counts towards charts, sales and certifications (100 streams as being equivalent to 1 single (download or physical single) when sales thresholds are being measured) more and more singles in the UK will and have been certified... So if you subscribe to an on-demand streaming service like Spotify, Deezer, Napster, O2 Tracks, Xbox Music and Sony’s Music Unlimited and rara, stream some Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie or Lindsey Buckingham!

Not sure what this means... Could be an album listening meeting.

Not sure what this means... a meeting about Stevie Nicks but a picture of Fleetwood Mac... and a Tango In The Night era shot... hmmm... Is there a connection, or is it that the photo was readily available to snap... Looks like a shot of a framed photo as it's reflecting a room... The photo is likely hanging on one of the walls in the WB offices.  Cool stuff.. Moving forward!  Maybe this was Warner Bros. first listen to the new album!

Why is Everyone in SF Obsessed with Stevie Nicks?

by Peter Lawrence Kane
The Bold Italic

Stevie Nicks turned 66 years old not long ago, and she’s everywhere. She sang a duet on Jimmy Fallon, with him as Tom Petty. She was on American Horror Story: Coven, having played herself – possibly because Ryan Murphy can’t resist writing his love of her straight into his characters’ minds. She even did a weather report.

With her vampish hedonism and love of shawls and Victoriana, there is something delightfully absurd about Stevie Nicks’ persona that seems to resonate in San Francisco. She is approachably, unpretentiously weird. As a drag icon for years – although the Night of 1000 Stevies is a New York thing – she’s a recurring specter on the scene. We asked some creative current and former Bay Area residents their thoughts on this brilliant woman, the goth-witch draped in chiffon who sings white-bread songs with universal appeal.

And although they’re skipping San Francisco for Sacramento and San Jose, Fleetwood Mac will tour this fall, in their full lineup. Just in case you were wondering.

Good read...
