STEVIE NICKS CLAPS BACK AT LINDSEY BUCKINGHAMS CLAIM
In response to Lindsey Buckinghams 3 most recent interviews with the New York Times, LA Times and Rollingstone, Stevie Nicks (and Fleetwood Mac's Manager Irving Azoff) respond to Lindsey's claims on why he was let go from the band.
STEVIE NICKS RESPONDS
“It’s unfortunate that Lindsey has chosen to tell a revisionist history of what transpired in 2018 with Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks wrote to “Rolling Stone.” “His version of events is factually inaccurate, and while I’ve never spoken publicly on the matter, preferring to not air dirty laundry, certainly it feels the time has come to shine a light on the truth. Following an exceedingly difficult time with Lindsey at MusiCares in New York, in 2018, I decided for myself that I was no longer willing to work with him. I could publicly reflect on the many reasons why, and perhaps I will do that someday in a memoir, but suffice it to say we could start in 1968 and work up to 2018 with a litany of very precise reasons why I will not work with him. To be exceedingly clear, I did not have him fired, I did not ask for him to be fired, I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it. I have championed independence my whole life, and I believe every human being should have the absolute freedom to set their boundaries of what they can and cannot work with. And after many lengthy group discussions, Fleetwood Mac, a band whose legacy is rooted in evolution and change, found a new path forward with two hugely talented new members.
Further to that, as for a comment on “family” — I was thrilled for Lindsey when he had children, but I wasn’t interested in making those same life choices. Those are my decisions that I get to make for myself. I’m proud of the life choices I’ve made, and it seems a shame for him to pass judgment on anyone who makes a choice to live their life on their own terms, even if it looks differently from what his life choices have been.”

Fleetwood Mac Live: 3CD and 2LP Sets to be released separately. Available June 25, 2021
When Fleetwood Mac released their first live album in December 1980, it captured the legendary band’s most iconic lineup on stage demonstrating the full scope of their collective, creative powers. Recorded mostly during the world tour for Tusk, Fleetwood Mac Live delivered a double-album’s worth of exhilarating performances that included massive hits like “Dreams” and “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” and “Don’t Stop.”
Back in April, Rhino gave the band’s live debut a much-deserved encore with a new 3-CD/2-LP collection that features a remastered version of the original release plus more than an hour of unreleased live music recorded between 1977 and 1982. Following this, Rhino will make the newly remastered live album available as a double vinyl on 25th June 2021 (vinyl doesn't include the previously unreleased material)
Rhino will also make available a separate 3-CD version which includes remastered version of the original 2-CD version, plus it will include a third disc of remastered previously unreleased version.

MICK FLEETWOOD “I would love the elements that are not healed to be healed”
Mick Fleetwood Open to Reunion With Lindsey Buckingham, Imagines Fleetwood Mac Farewell Tour
“Fleetwood Mac is such a strange story,” says the drummer. “I would love the elements that are not healed to be healed”
Rollingstone
With the concert industry shut down for the foreseeable future and his bandmates spread to various spots around the planet, Mick Fleetwood truly doesn’t know what the future holds for Fleetwood Mac. But that hasn’t stopped the drummer from looking ahead and sketching out a possible farewell tour in his mind.
“I’m very aware that we’ve never played that card,” he tells Rolling Stone on the phone from his Hawaii home. “I think the vision for me, and I think it would be hugely appropriate, is that we actually say ‘this is goodbye’ and go out and actually do that. That has always been my vision and I’m a flatly confident that we can do that. We owe it to the fans.”
The comments appear to contradict Christine McVie’s recent statements to the BBC where she said that bassist John McVie was “a little bit frail” and no longer had “the heart for it.” She also said, “If we do it, it’ll be without John and without Stevie [Nicks], I think…I’m getting a bit old for it now. I don’t know if I can get myself back into it.”
McVie later walked back the comments, and Fleetwood says they shouldn’t be taken literally. “I think she got out of bed on the wrong side that day,” he says with a laugh. “She meant to say, ‘We’ve done so much. I don’t know whether or not we can keep going.’ Anything other than that, she can speak for herself. But I can assure you we are alive and well. And she has no regrets. She just got caught up in whatever she was saying and she also felt she had been misunderstood.”
Christine McVie also said that John McVie was focused largely on sailing the world on his boat, but Fleetwood says that’s never once stopped him from participating in band activities. “He’s always more interested in going sailing until you put it in front of his face,” he says. “He’s so not caught up in the drama of the workings of the band. That has always been my world. I’ve never not known John to answer the call and say, ‘Show me the gig and I’ll plug my bass in.'”
There hasn’t been any reason for McVie to plug his bass in since Fleetwood Mac ended their last world tour in November 2019. It was their first tour since parting ways with Lindsey Buckingham and bringing in Neil Finn of Crowded House and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to fill the void. “It was a massive, really lovely world tour that was beyond successful in every way,” says Fleetwood. “And a happy tour.”
They initially planned on booking about eight stadium shows with other big artists the following year, but the pandemic made that impossible. Last July, Fleetwood Mac founding guitarist Peter Green died just months after Fleetwood staged a massive tribute concert in his honor at London’s Palladium.
It was a devastating blow to Fleetwood, but it also caused him to get back in touch with Buckingham after two years of bitter estrangement. “I’ve really enjoyed being re-connected with Lindsey, which has been gracious and open,” says Fleetwood. “And both of us have been beautifully honest about who we are and how we got to where we were.”
The reconciliation leads to an obvious question: Might Buckingham come back into Fleetwood Mac for the farewell tour that Fleetwood is plotting out in his mind? “Strange things can happen,” says Fleetwood. “I look at Fleetwood Mac as a huge family. Everyone plays an important role in our history, even someone like [early Seventies] guitarist Bob Welch, who was huge and sometimes gets forgotten. Lindsey’s position in Fleetwood Mac will, for obvious reasons, never been forgotten, as it should never be forgotten.”
“My vision of things happening in the future is really far-reaching,” he continues. “Would I love to think that [reunion] could happen? Yeah. I’d love to think that all of us could be healed, and also respect the people who are in the band, Neil Finn and Michael Campbell.”
The major impediment to a reunion with Buckingham is his relationship with Stevie Nicks, which had been strained for decades and finally reached a breaking point in early 2018. No reunion tour can proceed without the two of them arriving at some sort of detente. “I can’t speak for the dynamic with Stevie and him,” says Fleetwood. “I don’t even need to protect it. It’s so known that they’re chalk and cheese in so many ways, and yet not.”
For now, Fleetwood is just happy he’s back on speaking terms with Buckingham. “I know for a fact that I intend to make music and play again with Lindsey,” he says. “I would love that. It doesn’t have to be in Fleetwood Mac. And Fleetwood Mac is such a strange story. All the players in the play are able to talk and speak for themselves. Somehow, I would love the elements that are not healed to be healed. I love the fantasy that we could cross that bridge and everyone could leave with creative, holistic energy, and everyone could be healed with grace and dignity.”

Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' Among Best Selling UK Vinyl Albums of 2020
Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' expected to be announced as one of the year’s best selling vinyl albums in the UK.
Nearly 5 million (4.8m) LPs were purchased in the UK over the past 12 months – a leap of nearly a tenth on sales in 2019 and a 13th consecutive year of growth since 2007. Vinyl LPs now account for nearly 1 in 5 of all albums purchased (18%) and are at their highest level since the early nineties. Vinyl generates almost twice as much in industry revenues as music video streaming platforms, such as YouTube, despite the tens of billions of videos watched every year.
The BPI will report its final music consumption figures on January 4th 2021.

Fleetwood Mac, "Dreams" Top 25 Songs of 2020 (Rollingstone)
#25 Fleetwood Mac, "Dreams"
Who else but Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham could keep re-breaking the same chain for over 40 years, from Tusk to TikTok? “Dreams” became the year’s most surprising TikTok sensation, inspiring Stevie, Lindsey, and Mick Fleetwood to join the fun — probably the closest we’ll ever get to a reunion. Yet another weird twist in the endlessly weird Mac saga. There’s something so beautiful — and so scary — in the way these bad lovers are still haunted by the music they made together, and how the music still refuses to give them their freedom. It’s official: Stevie is the thunder that only happens when it’s raining. And Stevie is always raining.

Top 40 Radio Revives Fleetwood Mac’s Classic ‘Dreams.’
After Viral Video, Top 40 Radio Revives Fleetwood Mac’s Classic ‘Dreams.’
Oct 26, 2020 - Inside Radio
A new generation of listeners is discovering the Fleetwood Mac classic “Dreams” thanks to a viral TikTok video posted by Nathan Apodaca riding a skateboard, lip-synching the song while sipping a large bottle of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry. The 23-second video has been viewed millions of times, sparking a resurgence of the song from the 1997 Fleetwood Mac album “Rumours.”
The track accumulated 521 total spins the week of Oct. 19-25, according to Mediabase, with Top 40 radio leading the way with 248 or nearly half of the total spins. The song moved from No. 96 on the Mediabase Top 40 chart to No. 59 week-over-week.
Louie Diaz, Cumulus Media VP/Contemporary who programs Atlanta’s “Q99.7” WWWQ, gave a head’s up to his airstaff when the song started showing up on the music log every three hours. “We will treat it like a current song,” he wrote in a memo acquired by Atlanta Journal-Constitution radio and TV reporter Rodney Ho. “So, when you hear it into the Weeknd or Post Malone on Q99.7, don’t think it’s weird.”
He told Ho he’s not sure how long the song will be a taking up a spot on the current list, but says “Dreams” doesn’t sound out of place and is one of the top three most checked songs in the market on Shazam.
The viral video helped placed the song back on Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Songs Chart and the band notched its best-ever week on streaming, NPR reports. In its first hour on TikTok, the video gathered some 100,000 views. It now has more than 35 million. TikTok says 134,000 tribute videos have been made, totaling nearly a half-billion combined views.
The band has also noticed, with Mick Fleetwood telling NPR, the video “was spontaneous. It was heartfelt. It was fun, and God knows we need some of that right now... It could have been any song, but it was ours.”
Stevie Nicks, whose vocals Apodaca sings along to in the video, told “CBS This Morning,” “This TikTok thing has, kind of, blown my mind. And I’m happy about it because it seems to have made so many people happy.”
The newfound love for a classic song is not unusual. In the past it was movies and commercial campaigns that revived a song. After its prominence in the movie Wayne’s World, “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen returned to the Top 40 charts. Similar occurrences took place with Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” featured in the 1986 movie of the same name; “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers from “Ghost” and even “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye, which blew up thanks to an animated commercial campaign for California raisins, commissioned by the California Raisin Advisory Board in the 1980s.

FLEETWOOD MAC'S 'DREAMS' TOP SELLING SONG WORLDWIDE LAST WEEK
Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' Thunders to Top 10.
Billboard published the Top 10 Global Tracks and "Dreams" bounds from No. 20 to No. 10 on the Global 200, sparked by its TikTok-fueled revival.
The Billboard Global 200 chart is inclusive of worldwide data and ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
"Dreams" vaults 20-10, with 27.3 million streams (up 36%) and 33,000 downloads sold (up 20%) globally. The classic, which was the top-selling song worldwide in the tracking week, is benefiting from the viral TikTok video in which Idahoan Nathan Apodaca rides his longboard while drinking a bottle of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice, backed by the Stevie Nicks-penned song; the band's Mick Fleetwood and Nicks have since created their own tribute clips. - BILLBOARD

Fleetwood Mac's Rumours Is Once Again a Top 10 Album in the US
Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' Returns to Billboard 200 Top 10 -- 42 Years Later
Billboard
After a 42-year wait, Fleetwood Mac’s former Billboard 200 No. 1 album Rumours returns to the top 10 this week, as the set jumps 13-7. The album, released in 1977, is basking in the glow of sales and streaming increases spurred on by publicity generated from a viral TikTok video set to the album’s song “Dreams.”
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Oct. 24-dated chart (where Rumours returns to the top 10) will be posted in full on Billboard's website on Oct. 20. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Rumours earned 33,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 15 – up 15%, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of that sum, 23,000 comprise SEA units (up 15%, equating to 30.6 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs, including "Dreams"), a little under 7,000 are in album sales (up 15%) and 4,000 are in TEA units (up 13%).
The TikTok video in question has “Dreams” soundtracking a man in a hoodie (Nathan Apodaca) seemingly being pulled on a skateboard, as he drinks from a bottle of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice and sings along with Stevie Nicks’ lead vocal. The video became so popular, it moved the band’s own Mick Fleetwood and Nicks to create their own tribute clips.
Rumours spent 31 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1977-78 – a record number of weeks atop the list for an album by a duo or group. Rumours was last in the top 10 on the Feb. 18, 1978-dated chart (at No. 10), and last ranked at No. 7 or higher on the Feb. 11, 1978 chart (where it placed at No. 7).

Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' Surges to Biggest Streaming Week Ever After Viral TikTok Video
Courtesy of buzz generated by a gone-viral TikTok video, Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” has captured its largest streaming week ever.
Following the rise of the video’s popularity, the classic 1977 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit garnered 8.47 million on-demand streams in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 1, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. That sum is up 125% compared to the previous week (3.76 million).
Previously, "Dreams'" best streaming week came in the week ending Sept. 10, with 3.83 million clicks.
The video became so popular, it moved the band’s own Mick Fleetwood to recreate the clip.
“Dreams” also sold 7,000 downloads in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 1 (up 584%) – its best sales week since the week ending July 24, 2011, when it sold 9,000.
“Dreams” makes moves on the Billboard charts (dated Oct. 10), too, as it re-enters at a new peak of No. 8 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, climbs 19-1 on Rock Digital Song Sales, and rises 7-3 on Rock Streaming Songs. (Billboard's charts dated Oct. 10 will refresh to Billboard's websites on Oct. 6.)
The cut also impressively enters at No. 36 on the all-genre Streaming Songs chart, a list which is normally crowded with current hip-hop and pop tracks.
On the Billboard Global 200 chart, which ranks the most popular songs around the world, “Dreams” debuts at No. 51. On the Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. tally, it bows at No. 161.
“Dreams” was first released on the album Rumours, which was issued in 1977 and spent 31 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Rumours also surges up Billboard’s lists, as it rebounds 47-27 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, marking the first time it’s been in the top 40 since early 2013. The set earned 19,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 1 (up 56%). The album also inches up 33-29 on the Album Sales chart with 4,000 copies sold (up 45%).
“Dreams” is also featured on the band’s Greatest Hits album, which jumps 169-103 on the Billboard 200 (9,000 units; up 35%) and moves 50-46 on Album Sales (3,000 sold; up 45%).
And finally, the new album The Alternate Rumours – released Sept. 26 exclusively on vinyl the latest Record Store Day Drop – enters the Billboard 200 at No. 165 (7,000 units – all from album sales). It also debuts at No. 12 on Album Sales and No. 6 on Vinyl Albums. The release presents an alternate view of the classic album, with different takes of the album’s tracklist subbing in for the original album versions.
