KYLIE adores him, Stevie Nicks wants to do dinner @Reecemastin

Published by @Nickslive of Fleetwood Mac News and Reveiws:

KYLIE adores him, Stevie Nicks wants to do dinner and tens of thousands of teen and tween girls are playing his debut hit Good Night right now.

Stevie Nicks, has taken XFactor Australia Reece Mastin under her wing.  Nicks invited him to hang out after her Sydney Entertainment Centre gig, gave him a gold crescent moon pendant and made plans to catch up for dinner before she leaves Australia.

"I got to meet Stevie Nicks last night, she's amazing. She's given me advice, a present. She doesn't give these out to everyone. She's like my mum away from mum," he said.

“In Your Dreams” Tour Review, Sydney 29/11/11 by Australian Rozie

by: @Nickslive at Fleetwood Mac News and Reviews:

Stevie Nicks appeared right on schedule at 9pm. She was actually much better vocally than I thought she was going to be. The concert went for two hours, which I consider very good value nowadays (Janet didn’t even last an hour and a half). Stevie told us from the start that it was NOT a “greatest hits” show and she was going to play her new stuff (whether you wanted to hear it or not).

Lindsey Buckingham – Songs From The Small Machine "If you are a fan, this is literally made for you"

Songs From The Small Machine is not for the Fleetwood Mac fan.  This live document is for the diehards that Lindsey Buckingham has cultivated over the years, especially since he started releasing solo records and touring regularly about 5 years ago.

Having seen this tour when it passed through Atlanta, I can tell you that this is a perfect souvenir of the show. Buckingham has never been one much to change up his concerts and this DVD proves it. The set list has been consistently the same and even the dialog is virtually identical to every other night. The delicately worded explanations of his career and life path are tied directly into the songs chosen to be performed and shed light on his motivations, successes and failures.

Classic Fleetwood Mac cuts such as “Go Your Own Way”, “Tusk”, “Second Hand News” and “Im So Afraid” are given muscular, energetic treatments, but don’t feel as close to Buckingham’s heart as the truly emotional tunes that are included. This version of “All My Sorrows” (originally from 1992’s criminally underrated Out Of The Cradle) is absolutely one of the highlights of Buckingham’s entire career. “Turn It On”, also from Out Of The Cradle, is given a glorious run through as well.

Brand new tunes (there are no less than 6 from the 2011 album Seeds We Sow) stand up proudly next to the more familiar songs. “Illumination”, “The End Of Time”, “That’s The Way Love Goes” and “Stars Are Crazy” go a long way toward justifying Buckingham’s claim that his new album may be his best.

The only complaints that I have are minor. Many of the songs are performed in a lower pitch than the recorded versions and while I understand that it helps prevent vocal fatigue (as he has to sing all night every night during the solo tours), some songs are definitely affected. For example, the otherwise amazing, blistering acoustic take of Fleetwood Mac’s “Big Love” doesn’t feel quite as dazzling as the version from 1997’s live album The Dance and the only difference seems to be the pitch.

I also wish there were more songs from the previous album Gift Of Screws which contains quite a few of his best solo songs. Only “Treason” appears here and it’s almost a throwaway in this show.

Songs From The Small Machine is a simple continuation of Lindsey Buckingham’s art. It’s occasionally frustrating, but mostly brilliant. If you are a fan, this is literally made for you.

Review: Stevie Nicks and Dave Stewart Perth, AU Nov 26th

Fleetwood Mac News & Reviews @ nickslive.blogspot.com
Concert Review: Stevie Nicks and Dave Stewart
While the two may not seem the most obvious teaming, *Dave Stewart* in support of *Stevie Nicks* ensured an evening full of memories and style when they took to the stage at the WA Athletics Stadium on the weekend.

Stewart produced Nicks' new album, In Your Dreams and with his own album The Blackbird Diaries (not to mention the Super Heavy LP … he sure keeps busy) also out now, the chance to take the creative chemistry on the road must have been alluring and has indeed proved well worth it. They do, after all, share strong links with their respected ex-muses.

After a short set by the over-exposed *Brian McFadden *, Stewart stepped onstage with a backing band in *Perth *'s own *The Panics *, plus everyone's favourite pedal steel player, *Lucky Oceans *, to boot. Moments from the Blackbird Diaries engrossed the building crowd, but when he rolled into *Eurythmics *' Here Comes the Rain Again in a more rustic, acoustic manner that showcased his backing singers and led to a rousing outro, the stage was set for some unbridled audience enthusiasm.

Stevie decked out in an all red in a never before seen outfit - and looking pretty great!  The colour is a nice change from the all black.  Photos aren't great, but from what I can see, the new 2 piece outfit is similarly styled like a few of the new recent pieces we've seen her wearing on tour...

Last night in Sydney, Australia, at the 25th ARIA Awards Show, Stevie Nicks with Nine’s Entertainment Editor Richard Wilkins presented the best contemporary album award to Billy Thorpe's final masterpiece "Tangier" an album coincidentally that Mick Fleetwood played drums on.

Collecting the ARIA AWARD on the night were Billy's wife, Lynn, and daughters Lauren and Rusty.

Review: Stevie Nicks Live in Perth

Stevie Nicks back to her magnificent best in Perth

Given her troubled past and well documented struggles with drugs and alcohol Stevie Nicks had no right to look and sound as good as she did last night.

She was here on the Perth leg of the Australian tour in support of her latest, Dave Stewart-produced, album In Your Dreams. In front a dream band led by legendary guitarist Waddy Wachtel, the 63-year-old’s voice commanded attention and affection as it rang out in the cool night air.

Towards the end of the two-hour set as the band cranked out chorus after chorus of Edge Of Seventeen, Nicks walked across the front of the stage – with help from her security who made sure the tiny-framed songstress did not get pulled in – touching the fans within reach. Those further back were just as surely touched by an artist who delivered a memorable and heart warming performance.

"Stevie Nicks proves she still has what it takes vocally to captivate & entertain a 6,000 strong audience for two hours."

"Dave Stewart's rendition of Tom Pett's "Don't Come Around Here No More was a highlight, a song which was actually co-written by Petty and himself, a revelation which reaffirmed we were in the esteemed presence of a truly talented artist."

"Brian McFadden delivers an impressive set to an initially reserved, but eventually well received audience."

Rolling Stone 2012 Tour Preview > 60% odds for Fleetwood Mac & Lindsey Buckingham gets his due

Tour Preview: Why 2012 Is Shaping Up to Be a Monster Year
Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Madonna and more are planning to hit the road

The ancient Mayans supposedly predicted that the world was going to end in 2012. That might explain why so many giant touring acts seem to be hitting the road next year. (They want to make their money while they still can.) Some acts like U2 and AC/DC may be taking the year off, but many of the other biggest names in the business seem to be gearing up for tours – even if they publicly refuse to admit it at this point. Here's a guide to the biggest (likely) tours of 2012.

Check out the Top 18 potential 2012 tours at Rollingstone.

FLEETWOOD MAC No. 17

Let's allow Lindsey Buckingham to comment on the possibility of Fleetwood Mac touring next year. "We're doing something for sure," the Fleetwood Mac guitarist told Rolling Stone in August. "I wouldn't be shocked if it was a tour and possibly an album. We'll have to wait and see. Nothing is on the books right now. With Fleetwood Mac, there's a lot of landmines out there politically and it's hard to get everybody on the same page at the same time – but I think this might be one of those years where everyone will want to do the same thing. Whatever that is."

Likelihood: 60 percent. This could easily move into 2013 – especially if they decide to cut an album first. Also, it was widely reported that they were going to tour stadiums with the Eagles in the summer of 2010, and that didn't happen.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM
100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time

FINALLY! Lindsey gains some respect and makes the list.  He's at # 100!  Far to close to not being included at all... Not that these lists make any difference, but it's nice to be recognized.  He should at the very least be in the top # 50 if not top # 20.  But none the less he's included in with the all time greats... so cudos to Rollingstone for including him.  What's the criteria anyway?

During Fleetwood Mac's hitmaking era, Lindsey Buckingham transmuted the folk music of his banjo-playing youth into stadium rock: glistening harmonized leads, crisply snapping chords and frenetic arpeggiated breakdowns. "It's not acceptable classical technique," he has said. "You do what you can to get the sound you want."

Key Tracks: "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way"
