Go Your Own Way: Johnnie Meets Stevie Nicks

Johnnie catches up with one of the great rock 'n' roll survivors, Fleetwood Mac singer and songwriter, Stevie Nicks.

After the release of a seventh, highly acclaimed solo album, Johnnie takes Stevie back to the 1970s, a decade of professional and creative success and personal turbulence.

Stevie talks candidly about her relationship with Lindsay Buckingham; writing iconic hits from Rhiannon to Dreams; and the relationship breakdowns that fuelled Rumours - one of the decade's biggest and most cherished albums. With an eye on her personal and professional renaissance, which included the conquest of drug addiction, Stevie looks back to a time that saw her hailed as the "Reigning Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" by Rolling Stone magazine.

Catch Johnnie's show on BBC Radio 2 Sunday, August 28th at 3pm UK time.  Stream online here

Chatting with Lindsey Buckingham

A Conversation with Lindsey Buckingham

Mike Ragogna: Lindsey, how are you?

Lindsey Buckingham: Good. How are you?

MR: I'm doing fine. It's an honor to speak to you, sir.

LB: Well, thank you. I appreciate that.

MR: I've been a fan since your first solo album, Law And Order. Of course, I loved the Fleetwood Mac material, but I've really enjoyed all of your solo material as well.

LB: Well, that's nice to hear. We do our best, what can I say?

MR: Lindsey, you're on your sixth solo album now, Seeds We Sow. No surprise, you produced, mixed, and performed virtually every note. Oh, and you wrote almost all the songs.

LB: Well, pretty much. There's a Rolling Stones cover at the end, "She Smiled Sweetly," and I co-wrote one of the songs, "Stars Are Crazy." My road band is also playing on one of the songs, but yes, for all intents and purposes, I did. I must have control issues, yes?

MR: (laughs) Nah, you're just über-creative. "Stars Are Crazy" is one of my favorite tracks on this new album. Who co-wrote that with you?

John McVie and Mick Fleetwood Featured on NEW ZZ Top Tribute

October 11th is the official release date of ZZ Top A Tribute From Friends. This eleven track compilation draws together newly-recorded versions of ZZ Top classics, interpreted by a range of artists. The album leads off with “Sharp Dressed Man,” which is credited to The M.O.B., a group that features Mick Fleetwood, Steven Tyler, Jonny Lang and John McVie.

Upon learning of the album, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, responded via statement: “When we were told there was going to be a ZZ Top tribute album a while ago and logically asked, ‘Who are we paying tribute to?’ Then we found out that a bunch of great artists were paying tribute to us and we were in disbelief. For the past 40 or so years, all we’ve done is get out there and crank it and try to have a good time while doing so. To a great extent, we’ve succeeded since we’re still having a good time so that would be reward enough for ‘the same three guys playing the same three chords.’ Now comes A Tribute From Friends and we’re so delighted that our music resonates with these great musicians whom we so admire.”

Fleetwood admits he was thrilled to be asked to be a part of the tribute: "We’re delighted to honour ZZ Top this way. Their legacy, like that of the original Fleetwood Mac, is steeped in the blues we all love so much. I know that Steven and Jonny feel as strongly about their legacy as John and I do."

Mick and John's inclusion on this album was initially reported back in January, 2011 HERE.

The album is available for pre-order on Amazon
