LISTEN: Three Tracks from "Rumours Revisited" Fleetwood Mac Mojo Magazine Issue

The Mad Mackerel have posted two tracks from the upcoming "Rumours Revisited" FREE CD that comes with the January, 2013 issue of Mojo Magazine...
Yeasayer "Second Hand News"
The Liars "The Chain"
There's also "Songbird" as a download on their site The Mad Mackerel
Both VERY different from the original... Songbird is lovely though. Remember they are re-imagined versions, so they weren't going for exact replicas...
Looking forward to the magazine, and of course your reactions to the covers.

Julia Holter's version of Gold Dust Woman surfaced today over at Gorilla vs Beat... Not bad at all, I like the layered vocals.

Even more dreadful Fleetwood Mac covers. Second Hand News isn't that bad, but you would have to be a heroin junkie to like this take on The Chain. All these so called hip band that are covering their songs fail to realize that while the lyrics to the Mac songs are heavy, the musical arrangements and vocal group style singing of the original recordings makes the songs pop/rock.

Yes, they are both awful. Shouldn't even be allowed. If these groups want to record this kind of garbage they should record something they wrote themselves and leave masterpieces alone. Thesea are truly ridiculous.

No wonder they are free lol.

These covers are depressing. I hate when artists try and totally modernize the good old songs. Stay true to the song or leave it alone!

Oh and that girl's tumblr? That's really weird... I need to investigate lol!

It's good that the band's music lives on through re-interpretations, but these sounds like hipster parodies. Most of these covers ditch any attempt to take a harmonic approach to the songs, which is so central to the Fleetwood Mac sound.

OMG this is just tragic....

Are you people serious? What would be the point of covering the songs and making them the same? What would be the point of not at least TRYING to make them contemporary.

If you wanna listen to it the way it is then do that! On the Fleetwood Mac album.

I have the CD. It is horrible. The one good track is "I don't want to Know"-Dylan LeBlanc. For everything else they have deliberately taken the musicianship out of the songs and replaced it with syntho-pops and blips and horrible electronic sounds. If you cannot play the wonderful acoustic guitar part in "Never Going Back again" maybe you should not do it. Don't try to duplicate it with a child's xylophone.
