Michele Clark's 14th annual Sunset Sessions
San Diego's best-kept musical secret of the week starts tonight in North County.
NBC San Diego

Unless you're a radio exec, DJ or music insider, you may not know that Michele Clark's 14th annual Sunset Sessions is set to kick off on Thursday at the La Costa Resort in Carlsbad. Rain or shine, some legendary artists and an avalanche of up-and-coming talent are pouring into North County now to take part, and SoundDiego, in partnership with our friends at KPRI-FM -- which is hosting and broadcasting live from La Costa -- will be offering local fans an insider's look at the event held exclusively for industry professionals.

Some of the more-well names expected to attend are Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, Mike Mills of R.E.M. and pop/country singer/songwriter k.d. lang. Those stars, however, are just some of the flames in the fire. On Thursday, Black Joe Louis and the Honeybears, My Radio, the Makepeace Brothers, Lucy Schwarz, Augustana, Daniel Lanois Black Dub, Cas Haley and Parker Ainsworth are all scheduled to perform.

On the lineup Friday: a meet-and-great with Mills, and performances by Iron and Wine, Everest, Sia, the Wood Brothers, k.d. lang, Surfer Blood, and many others.

Sunset Sessions concludes on Saturday with lunchtime sets by NEema and Whitney Wolanin, which lead into an album preview, interview and meet and greet with Stevie Nicks, followed by performances by Nicole Atkins, Crystal Bowersox, Scars on 45, April Smith and the Great Picture Show, local artist Bushwalla, and Cody Beebe and the Crooks.

SoundDiego's coverage begins Friday, but KPRI-FM will be broadcasting live today and through Saturday, so stay tuned and go backstage with us at Sunset Sessions all weekend.
