Chart Update: Fleetwood Mac | Stevie Nicks Domestic Sales & International Charts

Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart
Week ending July 1st - Billboard Chart Date July 14, 2012

Amazing... Fleetwood Mac have 3 albums on this weeks Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart!

Fleetwood Mac's 1988 Greatest Hits album re-enters Billboards Top 200 Albums Chart this week at #65 with US sales for the week of 6,544 units, up from 2,222 last week (195% increase). This marks the albums 32nd non-consecutive week on the Top 200. The album is also sitting at #7 on the Top 200 Catalogue Charts, up from #78 and at #4 on the Top 200 Catalogue Digital Albums Chart up from #42. The album was an Amazon Deal a little over a week ago discounted to $2.99 for the digital download which contributed to the large sales increase.  The album continues today at $2.99 on Amazon. Total digital sales for this reporting period were 5,864 a 320% increase over the previous weeks number of 1,397. Overall total US sales since November, 1991 are 4,562,666.

Fleetwood Mac's self titled 1975 white album also re-enters the Top 200 Chart this week at #187 on sales of 2,864 units, up from 261 units the previous week. Total sales for the white 1975 Fleetwood Mac album in the US since November, 1991 are 852,975.  This marks this albums 149th non-consecutive week on the chart.   The album also re-entered the Top 200 Catalogue Charts at #40.  The album also re-entered the Top 200 Catalogue Physical Chart at #11 with 2,712 physical units sold. The 2004 re-released remastered album with bonus tracks was discounted at Amazon for $5.00, not as a digital download but for the actual disc! That's a pretty amazing deal! The AMAZON sale has since ended.

For a 4th Week, Fleetwood Mac's 2002 double cd release "The Very Best Of" remains on the Top 200 Chart - albeit in second last place moving down the chart from #181 to #199.  Sales for the week were 2,682 vs 3,134 the previous week, a 14% sales decline. Total US sales for The Very Best Of are 1,492,697 - just shy of triple platinum (each sold unit is counted as 2 because the set contains 2 discs). Unless the album receives a boost in sales, it will likely drop off next weeks chart.  The album is also charting on the Top Catalogue Charts at #43 down from #37 the previous week and on the Top 200 Physical Chart at #12, down from #7 the previous week.

Rumours remains on a few charts in the US as well.  On the Top 200 Catalogue Albums Chart the album moves up to #50 from #107 the previous week on unit sales of 2,467 vs 1,991 the previous week, a 24% sales increase. The album is also sitting at #180 on the Top 200 Catalogue Physical Charts, down from #163 the previous week. Physical sales of the CD were 1,034 vs 1,139 the previous week.  On the Top 200 Catalogue Digital Albums Chart the album moves up to #34 from #107 the previous week on digital sales of 1,433 vs 851 the previous week.  Total US sales for Rumours since November, 1991 are 2,968,145.

Stevie Nicks 1981 debut album Bella Donna finds itself hanging on to #192 on the Top 200 Catalogue Physical Albums Chart, up from #199 last week.  Sales for the week were static at 1,011 units sold.  Total album sales since November, 1991 are 865,838.

Fleetwood Mac's UK Box Set "25 Years - The Chain" moves down, but only slightly this week from #17 to #24 in it's 3rd week of release pretty much guaranteeing it will stick around the Top 100 for a 4th and possibly a 5th week. This 4 CD Box Set has done really well for the band in the UK.  It was originally released worldwide in 1992 but never charted in the UK.  With new packaging for this years release including the same music and same 68 page booklet as the '92 version, but selling at a deeply discounted price at Amazon, HMV and other retailers it's pretty amazing what it's done at retail!  Nice set up for next years Fleetwood Mac tour and the likelihood that dates will happen in the UK. Rumours on the Catalogue Charts this week is sitting nicely at #9.

Stevie Nicks' Bella Donna sold 1,224 digital copies during the sales period ending June 24th vs 69 digital copies the previous week allowing the album to enter this chart at #56.  The bump in digital sales can surely be attributed to the Amazon mp3 album deal that was going on. The digital album was listed for $2.99 for over a week.  Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits should get a further bump in digital sales this week as it's now listed at $2.99 on Amazon for the week.  During the sales period ending June 24th the album sold 1,397 digital copies vs 806 the previous week or a 73% increase in sales moving from #101 up to #42.  Rumours was flat in sales selling 851 digital copies vs 847 the previous week.  The album moves down the chart to #107 from #87 the previous week.

(Video) 1st Week UK Sales for Fleetwood Mac's 4 Disc Box Set "25 Years The Chain"

20 years after its original release, Fleetwood Mac’s 25 Years: The Chain debuts at number nine (13,165 sales) in the UK. The clue to its age is in the title. Fleetwood Mac's recording career started in 1967, and 25 Years: The Chain is a 4CD set of hits, album tracks, alternate takes and rare mixes that was first issued to mark those 25 years in 1992 but failed to chart. Its re-promotion comes at a more affordable price point: originally retailing for around £40, it is now widely available for around £12, and was advertised on TV last week as a Father’s Day gift.

STILL on sale in the UK at AMAZON for £11.97 Buy now.. Who knows how long this deal will last

Fleetwood Mac | Stevie Nicks Chart/Sales Update: US | UK

Interesting what one repeat of a couple of documentaries can do for album/song sales in the UK and to a certain extent in Ireland as well.

Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop" 2009 documentary aired on BBC4 again last evening (May 4th) with Peter Green's "Man of the World" documentary following.  Both would repeat late in the night.  As a result, take a look at the charting songs and albums on iTunes right now.  On the Top 10 Rock charts Fleetwood Mac's 1988 Greatest Hits album is the #2 Rock Album.  Rumours is #3 and The Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is #6.  In Ireland, Greatest Hits is #2 with The Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac at #4. Fascinating!

In other parts of the world Greatest Hits is #3 in Spain and #9 in Australia.

On the iTunes Top 100 Charts, the lists below reveal a little more of the impact a couple of airings of a documentary can make on album and song sales.

US ALBUM SALES
Week ending April 29th - Billboard Chart Date May 12th
In The USA this past week... Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Greatest Hits are still registering on the Top 200 Catalogue Album sales chart with pretty much static numbers in terms of sales both only dropping slightly by 2% vs last week.  Both albums increase in their chart positions as other titles on the chart have greater declines.  Rumours moves from #134 to #117 with sales of 1,824 units for the week, down from 1,864 last week.  Total album sales in the US since 1991 are 2,952,152.  Greatest Hits moves from#188 to #165 on sales of 1,489 units vs 1,519 last week.  Total US sales since 1991 are 4,543,494.  On the Top Catalogue Digital Albums Chart, Rumours moves from #51 to #21 on sales of 1,260 vs 1,208 last week.  Greatest Hits moves from #132 to #104 on sales of 687 digital downloads vs 702 last week.

Two catalogue tracks strike gains in sales this week on the Top 200 sales list.  Fleetwood Mac's Landslide moves from #155 to #95 on sales of 5,883 single downloads vs 4,512 the previous week.  Stevie's Edge of Seventeen moves down the chart even though sales increased this past week.  The tune moves to #180 from #127 last week.  Sales were 4,505 vs 2,694 the previous week.  Total digital sales for Landslide are 862,143 and the total for Edge of Seventeen are 505,673 - which means last week Edge surpassed the 500k mark in digital sales making it eligible for Gold status (not sure if the RIAA awards catalogue tunes Gold awards if they sell past the 500k mark).  In any case, the song didn't chart last week because of it's lower sales even though it's listed as being #127 last week.
