Interview: Stevie Nicks estimates what she currently does will go on 6-7 more years - then on to Art

Interview with Ultimate Classic Rock:
Stevie Nicks tells Ultimate Classic Rock that if she ever decides to record another album, she couldn't do it in the 'In Your Dreams' house... she'd have to move to a different house.

She also says that what she currently does will likely go on another 6-7 years, then she'll flip over to Art. She would really like to show the art / drawings she's worked on for years and for the most part have kept away from the world.

Stevie Nick sat down with Ultimate Classic Rock to speak about her new documentary "In Your Dreams"

Stevie Nicks Explains How Dave Grohl Jump-Started Her Documentary

Stevie Nick sat down with Ultimate Classic Rock to speak about her new documentary "In Your Dreams". part of the group of interviews Stevie conducted in early December right around the release of the film.

Clearly all these little video interviews are longer than 2 minutes. It's unfortunate that those that conducted the interviews don't post the full version... looks a little disjointed when it's only one segment.

Video: Stevie Nicks speaks to @RollingStone about Christine McVie's return to Fleetwood Mac

Hanging Out at Stevie Nicks' House
The iconic singer tells us about her new documentary and Christine McVie's return to Fleetwood Mac
By Gavin Edwards
RollingStone

We recently visited the Los Angeles home of rock goddess Stevie Nicks, and while we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a dedicated shawl closet and a tambourine vault, we can report that the kitchen TV was tuned to HGTV and the chandelier was fabulous. That house is featured throughout In Your Dreams, the entertaining film documenting the recording of Nicks' underrated 2011 solo album of the same name. Album producer Dave Stewart (of the Eurythmics) is also a compulsive videographer; he and Nicks are named as codirectors, although she dismissed the credit, saying, "It was very nice of them, but I didn't direct this." The documentary, recently released on DVD, was spurred by Dave Grohl: when Nicks lamented to him that her album had died, he told her that the only way to revive it was to release a film. "Go home and call Dave Stewart right now," he instructed her.

Interview: Stevie Nicks on 'In Your Dreams' American Horror Story #AHS Fleetwood Mac and John McVie

Stevie Nicks Is Still On Hyperdrive
An interview with the hard-working Fleetwood Mac frontwoman
by Alanna Nash, AARP

Stevie Nicks — lead singer and co-writer of Fleetwood Mac — is on a multimedia tear. After a sold-out world tour this year she's just released the DVD In Your Dreams (a visual bookend to her acclaimed 2011 solo album of the same name), and she's drawing new fans through her guest appearance on the hit show American Horror Story, which airs early next year. She slowed down long enough to answer our questions about the seemingly timeless appeal of her music.

In Your Dreams Available at Amazon

Q: You're a very private person, but In Your Dreams was filmed in your home.

A: I had two good reasons for allowing that. First, Dave [Stewart, of the Eurythmics] said to me, "I think this
album is going to be really magic. We should film it."

"Are you kidding?" I asked him. "That means I'll have to wear makeup and get dressed every day."

Dave said, "Yeah, you may have to wear a little makeup, but I know how to shoot women — I've been doing it since Annie Lennox. And I use cameras that film in soft light, so we won't have to change the ambiance [of your home]. And if you don't like it, no one will ever see it."

Second, I started thinking about the Tom Petty documentary Runnin' Down a Dream, where you get to see the Traveling Wilburys — and then, in the blink of an eye, two of them [Roy Orbison and George Harrison] are gone. So I thought, "We don't live forever — let's do this!"

Photo by: Geert Van de Velde
Q: Fleetwood Mac had to cancel the Australia and New Zealand legs of the tour so bass player John McVie could undergo cancer treatment.

A: Yes, but he's doing well. He's going to have a little operation in January, but he'll come through with flying colors. There's nothing wimpy about John.

Q: We're at that age where issues of vulnerability crop up.

A: Well, I lost my godson to an overdose of Xanax and alcohol at a frat party two years ago, three weeks before my mom died. And I see a lot of young people heading down a bad road, so I'm much more worried about their mortality rate than mine. It makes me realize life is precious, and that I need to keep in contact with all my friends.

Q: You're doing a longer concert set than you ever have. How do you stay healthy?

A: I do Weight Watchers and take a lot of vitamins, but I don't really work out — unless you count dancing around the house and the hotel room. We're always doing shows — those are my workout. If I have a day off, I stay in bed: I make myself a hot-water bottle and some tea, and I don't move.

Q: Fleetwood Mac's classic album, Rumours, turned 36 in 2013. Why does our generation — and the next few, apparently — love that record so much?

A: When you listen to those songs, you don't feel like you're listening to old music. A 16-year-old girl can listen to "Gold Dust Woman" and go, "Oh — that's me."

Q: And now you're going to be on American Horror Story.

A: Yes! I think that happened because I got into the Glee tribe when they did the episode on Fleetwood Mac. I don't usually watch horror, but this is a great way to take my music to a whole other generation of kids. My niece told me, "I've lived in your world my whole life — now you're coming into mine."
Q: You hadn't acted since your fourth-grade school play. What was the experience like?

A: I'm no Katharine Hepburn, but I did the best I could. I told [producer] Ryan Murphy, "I don't want my tombstone to read, 'Great songwriter, lousy actress.' So if I'm that bad, just take me out."

I loved meeting Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates and all the girls, and I'm excited about my role, which is a crazy one — I play myself, and then some! I think people will be surprised. I can't tell you more than that, because it's a total secret society; anyone who breathes a word of what's going on could disappear.

Q: The way you dress on stage fits perfectly into American Horror Story.

A: Yes, when Lily Rabe walks away and you see her hair — and the skirt, and the shawl, and the boots — there's no doubt that looks like me.

Q: Young girls have started showing up at concerts rocking your look. Is it fun to appeal to them?

A: It is. I created that look in 1976. The first year I went on tour with Fleetwood Mac, I took just my street clothes. We had no money, so I never ate; then I quickly gained 10 pounds, and nothing fit. So when I got home I went to designer Margi Kent and said, "Listen, I just want a handkerchiefy skirt, and a leotard, and a little riding jacket, and some black platform boots, and a chiffon scarf, and I want you to make three sets of those. That's going to be my uniform."

As we went along, we added some ponchos. I found the top hat in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1978. The skirts came up, the skirts came down, but my basic look is exactly the same as ever. I always said, "I want to wear this outfit at 28, but I also want to be able to wear it at 60." Not in a million years did I believe I'd still be wearing it at 60! But I'm proud if I created a fashion statement.

Q: According to the In Your Dreams documentary, love has no age limit.

A: None at all! I believe that I could meet my great love at 70. I just have to run into the right person. People tweet, text, email and Facebook, but they don't sit in the same room and deal with each other face to face. That really bothers me. It makes me think, "Well, you'll never meet anybody." But I've felt that way before, then walked around the corner and looked into the eyes of somebody who would become one of my great loves.

When you're not looking is when people show up. So if it happens, great, and if it doesn't, that's OK; I'm a creative person, and I fill my world with creativity.

Video: Stevie Nicks: American Horror Story Is 'The Most Interesting Thing I've Ever Done'

While promoting her new documentary, "In Your Dreams," Stevie Nicks remains tight lipped when Access questions her about what she's doing on "American Horror Story: Coven." So, how did she land this terrifying guest appearance?

Entertainment Weekly talked to co-creator Ryan Murphy about the latest AHS: Coven developments, including more Stevie Nicks!

Full article here but here's the section about Stevie:

You had mentioned that you wanted Stevie Nicks to come back. Is that gonna happen?
We have Stevie for another. Stevie will be in episode 10 and then we have Stevie for another one, doing an idea that she came up with that I thought was too perfect to say no to. Hilariously, Stevie read some of the scripts and called up and said “Are you aware that one of the things you’re doing I actually wrote a song about?” I’m like, “You’ve got to be kidding.” Then I remembered the song. We have something cool that was her idea.

Can you say what song it is?
No it gives it away!

The Grove in Los Angeles - In Your Dreams DVD Signing

Hordes of people for tonight's DVD signing in Los Angeles.  According to Stevie Nicks Info 400 wristbands were handed out beginning at 9am this morning. Anyone else waiting to meet Stevie were in a stand by queue and that line was over a hundred strong apparently. So an amazing turn out for Stevie tonight in LA and a nice boost for the DVD in it's first week of release - considering each person had to purchase a copy of the DVD or a CD if they wanted to meet Stevie and have it signed.  The usual suspects were there. Karen, Stevie's assistant was at her side, Sharon Celani who hasn't been at the last couple of signings was there tonight chatting and taking pics with fans.  Long waits in line for the people... but BIG pay off in the end! And it's not over yet. It's close to 10:30pm as I write this, the signing started at 7:00pm and people are still in line. To be continued tomorrow...

How I missed out on meeting Stevie Nicks
by Samuel

As some of you know, I am a huge Fleetwood Mac fan. But also, I am a huge fan of Stevie Nicks. For me, that band has shaped my love for music even more. And the mysteriousness of Nicks still captures me today. And I will admit, if I was a teenager in the 70s, I’d be mad crushing on her. Seriously, she’s amazing.

Stevie Nicks on "In Your Dreams DVD", John McVie's Health, Possible Future with Christine McVie

Stevie Nicks ' movie In Your Dreams, which documents the creation of her album of the same name, is out on DVD this week.  More than just your standard "making-of" film, In Your Dreams captures the surreal atmosphere at Stevie's L.A. mansion, where she, her producer Dave Stewart and various friends and associates lived and worked while recording.  The idea, says Stevie, was to give fans a truly immersive experience.

"We wanted people to feel like they were making the record with us," Stevie told ABC News Radio at her home in L.A. "We wanted people to feel like they were here in this house with me and Dave and all the characters that were here -- the singers, the chef, my goddaughter, my assistant, all the people that did all the hard work around us to make it easy, all the techs, everybody."

"There was a lot of people here every day," she adds. "And if any of my friends came into town and wanted to come over, it was fine. I don't think I've ever been in a situation like that before."  In fact, it was quite a freeing experience, because as Stevie explains, making a record with her band Fleetwood Mac pretty much requires everyone to be on lockdown.

"When you're recording with Fleetwood Mac, it is not fine to invite all your friends over.  No.  It's very closed.  It is a secret society...it is not cool," she tells ABC News Radio. "You don't just say, 'I'm coming with 10 friends.'"

Speaking of Fleetwood Mac, the band was forced to cancel their Australian and New Zealand tour when bass player John McVie was diagnosed with cancer in October.  But Stevie tells ABC News Radio, "He's doing great...if I ever had any psychic knowledge about me in this body, I am telling you that John McVie is gonna be just fine."  In fact, Stevie says John will be with the band when they play three shows in Vegas starting December 30.  Then, she says, "He's gonna have a little operation....he'll probably take a couple weeks to recover, and then...sky's the limit!"

As for John's ex-wife Christine McVie , who left Fleetwood Mac in 1998, what does Stevie think of her recent comments in the British press that she'd rejoin the band "if she was asked?"  Well, according to Stevie, Christine doesn't need an invitation.

"It is her band.  If she wants to come back, she will come back," Stevie tells ABC News Radio.  However, she says Christine needs to know what she's getting herself into. "The only thing I said to her was, 'Understand how physical this is. This is a two-hour-and-40-minute set....this is a grueling set,'" Stevie reveals, adding that she also told Christine, "Just be sure that you want to do it, because you can't come in and out if you come back!"

Stevie will meet and greet her devoted fans and sign copies of the In Your Dreams DVD on Wednesday at the Barnes & Noble at Farmer's Market, Hollywood.  Look for her there at 7 p.m.

Listen to Stevie Nicks LIVE Tonight on 95.5 KLOS 6pm local time

Couple of upcoming interviews with Stevie...

6:00pm TONIGHT - 95.5 KLOS she'll be on with Gary Moore speaking about the In Your Dreams Documentary.

Here's a loose rundown of what was talked about:

So Gary Moore kicked off the interview by asking Stevie straight away "what's the status with Fleetwood Mac" [This guy doesn't mess around].

Stevie said... Well, John is nearing the end of his treatment and is doing really well... saying he's strong... He's a sailor, he's sailed from LA to Fiji with 3 others on his boat, so he's basically a tough guy. She said she's not too worried about John at all, they caught it really early and she said he still needs to have a little operation, but thought it was really a small procedure - then some time to recover... Then talked about the 3 Fleetwood Mac shows beginning December 30th in Las Vegas, saying the first show is public and the last two on the 31st and January 8th are private shows.

The next question was about Christine... Gary said he had read The Guardian interview where Christine said she'd like to come back if asked... Then said to Stevie has she been asked? Is this something that's going to happen?... or has it ALREADY happened?  Stevie kind of chuckled and said this whole thing is kind of crazy... and said Chris doesn't need to be asked... It's HER band! Then talked about the London shows and her coming to play and said that she talked with her and said you know this isn't as easy as it looks, it's grueling, it's a long show... So if you really want to come back, just be SURE about that.

They played Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Will"

Conversation moved on to Coven and her upcoming appearance. Gary asked what it was going to be about.  Stevie said she couldn't really tell him but she belongs to a secret society.... She said she initially was only to be there a couple of days but they asked her to extend her stay and she ended up staying in New Orleans for a week, which was great.  She loved watching the cast perform, she's never really been that close to anything like that so it was great... She basically reiterated what was in today's Rollingstone article.

Gary asked about Rhiannon and the whole association and Stevie told the story about how she wrote the song, used to announce it was about a Welch Witch, but then read the books and found out later that Rhiannon wasn't a witch... Stevie said people were asking her why on earth she would want to be associated with the show or why she wanted to be on it when it's far from the type of stuff she's all about... Stevie said she's done thousands of show.. She's recorded thousands of songs... She's done all that, and wanted to branch out and try something different and that something like this may never come around again...

They played Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon"

After the song and a break, they talk about Moonlight a Vampires Dream and Stevie tells the story about how the whole album came about beginning in Melbourne when she wrote and recorded the demo for the song... then came home and called Dave and said she didn't care if anyone bought it, she just wanted to make a solo album around this song that so twisted her mind....

Gary ended the interview asking what was after Coven... What are Fleetwood Mac's plans in the new year? and Stevie hesitated a bit and said she really didn't know, it all depends on John really... She said they should have been in Australia right now, she shouldn't even be here... so she really didn't know, they will do these 3 upcoming shows and will know more in January.

And that was about it. Gary ended the show telling the audience that Stevie will be at The Grove tomorrow at 7:00pm for the DVD signing... Good interview.

And it looks like on Thursday omg! Insider will be interviewing Stevie.

"In Your Dreams" the end of an era...

It all began four years ago this month when Stevie wrote "Moonlight (A Vampires Dream)" - the first song and catalyst that would kick start this whole "In Your Dreams" era in motion.  After writing the tune in Melbourne, Australia in December, 2009 while on tour with Fleetwood Mac after seeing the second installment in the Twilight movie series Stevie demoed the song and decided at that moment she was ready to start a solo album.  Fleetwood Mac finished their world tour and came off the road later that month, Stevie called up Dave Stewart - asked him to produce the album - he was down for that - and the fun began!

Part 1 - The Album: The recording of new music wasn't actually known in the fan community until early February, 2010 when Dave send out a Tweet saying he had just written a song with Stevie called "Everybody Loves You". By early March, 2010 it was revealed an album was definitely in the works. Cut to July, 2010 and Dave reveals they are filming the whole experience as well in the hopes of creating a film (documentary) about the process. We now know the filming began shortly after they started collaborating on the album earlier in the year. They filmed all through 2010 while the album was being recorded right up to and including Lindsey Buckingham's contribution in November, 2010. By early December the album was finished, mixed and ready for the world.  The album hit the street May 3, 2011 and fans loved it. It was really well received by the critics... Stevie was back!

Part 2 - The film: Always a piece of the puzzle, a companion piece to the "In Your Dreams" album, Dave and Stevie had this plan to release the film in threatres or art houses across North America and eventually on DVD. With Stevie's promotional schedule for the album along with touring taking up a lot of her time in 2011, there obviously wasn't a lot of time to dedicate to the process of editing the year long filming of the film to get it ready for release, especially if you want to be there yourself to be apart. The amount of footage must have been extraordinary. Stevie was out on the road for a lot of 2011 first with Rod Stewart two months before the album even came out. She would basically be out on the road on tour right through early December, 2011 playing dates in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia.

After the passing of her Mother in late December, 2011 and after some time to mourn, she spoke with Dave Grohl in 2012 around the time of the "Sound City" documentary filming which she appears in.  Dave's motivating talk with her kicked it into gear and she dedicated all her time for the next number of months to finish the film (Stevie gives Dave Grohl special thanks in the movie credits). She didn't re-surface until six months later in Spring 2012 when she headed back out on the road once again to back up the "In Your Dreams" album touring solo and again with Rod Stewart. She would continue on the road through to the premiere of the "In Your Dreams" film in October, 2012 at the Hamptons International Film Festival. The film would eventually make it's way to a number of film festivals and film centers in the fall of 2012 and early 2013 across the U.S. and Canada with Stevie attending a number of the events. In April, 2013 "In Your Dreams" finally made it's North American theatrical debut, just like Dave always planned. By this time Stevie was just beginning another world tour with Fleetwood Mac. The film would follow her or precede Fleetwood Mac coming to town. "In Your Dreams" would open in cities the band was about to play in. This would be the case through June, 2013. Prior to this short theatre run, on May 14, 2013 the film was made available to the general public to purchase for those that couldn't see the film in a theatre - but only via digital download from Stevie and Dave's website or through itunes and Amazon. Cable On Demand would followed suit.

After Fleetwood Mac took the summer of 2013 off they headed to the UK in September to resume their tour.  "In Your Dreams" made it's UK Theatrical Premiere in mid September. With the press release on the UK film Premiere in July or August, a DVD release month was set as November, 2013! FINALLY!  The film was also scheduled to screen at the Brisbane International Film Festival with Stevie set to attend the a Q&A. With Fleetwood Mac's tour cancellation, Stevie wasn't able to attend, but the film still premiered in Australia just this past month. During this time the actual DVD release date became clear... It would be December 3rd TODAY! (in North America)

So now that we finally have the DVD in our hands (or soon to be in our hands), this looks like it officially closes the chapter on "In Your Dreams". It's been a long four years, but I think it was well worth it and fun! It was an amazing time frame in Stevie's career beginning in early 2010 right through to the release of the album, the touring that followed and the anticipated release of the film, and now this DVD.  If you were around a few years ago when it began and were following along, you know.  It was the first time a lot of us fans felt like we were apart and along for this journey. We can all thank Dave for this experience as much as Stevie.

So personally, to you Dave and Stevie... Thank you!

November 18, 2013 – Los Angeles, California – Rock legend Stevie Nicks, fresh off of Fleetwood Mac’s sold out worldwide tour, will be releasing her intimate DVD documentary “In Your Dreams,” it was confirmed today by Warner Bros. Records.

“In Your Dreams” is a portrait of the illusive Nicks as she and Stewart embark on a musical journey to write and record the critically acclaimed “In Your Dreams” CD , Nicks’ first studio album in over a decade. Nicks called this “the greatest year of my life” and felt compelled to share the joyful experience with her fans.

The DVD is currently available for pre orders. The limited edition deluxe dvd bundle that included a DVD personally signed by Nicks, a handwritten individually numbered limited edition of a letter by Nicks and never-before seen photos has already sold out its 1000 copy limit.

"In Your Dreams" The Album

or a Deluxe Version
at Warner Bros.
Co-produced and co-directed by musical wizard Dave Stewart, “In Your Dreams” was shown at The Hamptons International Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, SXSW and Toronto Film Festival, and had a theatrical release in 53 cities.

The inner life of the legendary Nicks has by her design long been kept at a distance from the public.. We learn in “Dreams” that her world features costume parties, elaborate dinner feasts, tap dancing, fantasy creations and revealing songwriting and recording sessions all of which are captured on film. Fans will also get to see cameo appearances by Edgar Alllan Poe, Mick Fleetwood, Reese Witherspoon, a massive white stallion in the backyard, owls and naturally a few vampires who appear in several “home movie” style music videos.

Along with tracking the Nicks/Stewart creative partnership, “In Your Dreams” has plenty of other cinematic payoffs including rare never before seen personal scrapbook stills from Nicks’ childhood and a wealth of candid backstage and performance shots taken over the last 35 years.

The documentary was produced by Dave Stewart’s Weapons of Mass Entertainment.

Stevie Nicks In Your Dreams DVD Bundle $34.99. Limited quantity of 1000 - Sold Out

Well that didn't take long!  With an initial 500 DVD bundles released early Thursday evening quickly selling out within an hour, Warner Bros. topped up the offer to 1,000 Friday evening and reduced the number of copies per order down to one whereas the first 500 were offered with no limit to the number you could pre-order. The additional 500 bundles again quickly sold within a few hours. Will there be more?  I'm not sure, but it clearly shows that there is demand for this special package.

The film can still be pre-ordered via Warner Bros. for $18.99 but it's without the added bonus material - and it is available to those outside of North America, but will it work in your DVD player? The AmazonUS version indicates it's a Region 1 DVD which limits its play ability to North American configured DVD players. I'm assuming the Warner version is compatible to your neck of the woods if you are outside of North America as it doesn't indicate otherwise on their website.

Aside from Warner Bros., AmazonUSAmazon Canada and Barnes and Noble in the US appear to be the only other ways to pre-order the DVD so far. Certainly at some point the film will be available on other Amazon sites around the world to accommodate Stevie's fans outside of North America who are just as eager to see the documentary and have a physical copy. The film will premiere in Australia at the Brisbane International Film Festival on November 13th and hopefully it too will be available to purchase in Australia and New Zealand shortly afterwards.  The film premiered in September in the UK with the press release indicating availability on VOD (Video on Demand) and DVD in November.  AmazonUK haven't listed the DVD yet... but we're only part way through November so there is still time for it to show up.

Initially released digitally on itunes and via Stevie and Dave's inyourdreamsmovie.com website back in May, to fans in North America, it's been a long wait for the physical release of this DVD - hopefully Stevie's record company makes this available to the widest possible audience it can, and early. With everyone gearing up for the holiday season, it's actually the perfect time to get this out!

Stevie will be at Barnes and Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles on December 4th at 7pm for a DVD signing for copies of the film purchased that day.

Spotlight: Stevie's prediction for Fleetwood future

The singer is relieved her tip about the band’s big return has
come true, writes Sarah Walters
Manchester Evening News

‘I TOLD the press last year that 2013 was going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac,” comes the nervous confession of Stevie Nicks, the band’s vocalist and songwriter. “I was just hoping with all my heart that this big statement was gonna come true!”

Certainly, the UK hasn’t made a liar out of Nicks who, at the age of 65, is about to embark on a headline trip around the country’s biggest arenas. Nor, in fact, has the rest of the world: the band’s biggest selling album, 1977’s Rumours, found itself nearing the top of several worldwide charts again this year – adding hundreds of thousands more sales to the 40m copies shifted since its release.

Nicks is still a blonde stunner, and it’s hard to believe she’s preparing to celebrate her 40th year with the group in 2014; in that same year, Fleetwood Mac – completed by Mick Fleetwood (drums), John McVie (bass) and Lindsey Buckingham (vocals, guitar) since the departure of Christine “Perfect” McVie in 1998 – will reach the grand age of 47.

They lost years to drugs, in-fighting and line-up changes, but since the Anglo-American blues-rock band dropped to a four-piece they’ve seemed unstoppable, their international live shows grossing millions at the box office. And that’s, in part, because of the longevity of their back catalogue; Albatross, Go Your Own Way and Nicks-penned Dreams and Rhiannon have endured through musical fads and fashions.

"Stevie Nicks would like to play in Italy" - Mick Fleetwood told Gigwise [Video]

Mick Fleetwood spoke with Gigwise about Glastonbury and doing more work in interesting places...

When gigwise asked drummer Mick Fleetwood if the band had any plans to play festivals next summer.

"I hope so, I would love that," he said. "This has been a tough year on the road, but having said that, the boys in the band are hoping that our lady will think kindly about doing a few of the festivals."

He continued:

"We've been thinking of doing some more work in interesting places. On this tour we didn't play in Italy, but Stevie said 'ah, I'd like to play in Italy' and I said 'well, maybe we can', so we were joking about that.

"We were asked to do some lovely festivals this year and it didn't work out. Once you do the festivals then you can't really do a tour of the other towns. We were asked to do Glastonbury this year and hopefully they'll ask us again."

When asked about the possibility of playing Glastonbury 2014, Fleetwood replied:

"I don't know - they've probably got fed up of asking us!"
