SATURDAY: Palladia will have a special 90 minute premiere of CMT Crossroads: Stevie Nicks & Lady Antebellum 9/8c

A 90 minute special premiere of CMT Crossroads: Stevie Nicks & Lady Antebellum will air this Saturday October 5th at 9/8C on Palladia.

Update: Palladia confirmed that they will be airing 3 additional songs on Saturdays 90 minute version of Crossroads... So it looks like the bonus clips of Gold Dust Woman, Just a Kiss and Cold as Stone will be included with the show.

CMT's version was an hour long.  Possibly the bonus clips of songs and sitting around chatting that didn't originally air on CMT... Might be worth checking out this Saturday if you have Palladia.  Not to be missed... One of the best things Stevie has done!

What a show! What a great pairing of artists!  I'm a fan of Lady A and knew from the time this was announced that this would be outstanding... So many goose bump moments hearing the four of them sing and harmonize together... Just spectacular!  Favourite moment... "Golden"  Beautiful song!

This program is way too short.. It could easily be a 90 minute program!  With the songs performed live that didn't make the show, maybe we'll be lucky and see this released on DVD or VOD.  In the show you'll hear: Edge of Seventeen, Love Don't Live Here, Need You Now, Landslide, Golden, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and Rhiannon.

Heartbreaking story about how the song "Golden" touched Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks, Lady Antebellum Come Together for CMT's 'Crossroads'
by Chris Willman
The Hollywood Reporter

The idea of collaborating on each others' songs came by way of a dream, the Fleetwood Mac singer tells THR.

If you tune in to the new episode of CMT Crossroads, which has Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum as its latest cross-genre pairing, you’ll hear a version of “Rhiannon” that almost sounds more like Fleetwood Mac’s original version than Fleetwood Mac could do.

Perhaps we should let Stevie explain…

“I gave Hillary (Scott) that high part in ‘Rhiannon’ because I don’t sing it that way on stage -- because I can’t reach that note,” Nicks tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I reached it once: the day we recorded the song in 1977. I thought, you know what, if we’re gonna do this, wouldn’t it be great to actually have her sing the real melody of ‘Rhiannon.’ Because it has not been sung since it was written!”

That’s not to say that Nicks took the lazy way out, long-abandoned high notes excepted. CMT producers say they’ve never had a guest from the rock world approach a Crossroads taping with quite as much preparation or work ethic as the FM mainstay. And this particular coupling was Nicks’ own idea, coming out of a dream she had where she was cheating on Lindsey Buckingham, musically speaking.

“The dream was very short,” Nicks says. “And the dream was actually very fun. But I just want to clarify that so that when my other half hears this” (by “other half,” she means her professional partner Buckingham), “he doesn’t get all pissed off, because it wasn’t that kind of a dream. We were just having our usual little disagreement [in the dream], because that’s what we do. And I laughingly said to him, ‘Well, fine. I’ll just go join Lady Antebellum.’ And then the dream ended, and I sat up, and there it was.”

Nicks didn’t think much more about this nocturnal prophecy until three days later, when she went to the premiere of a Led Zeppelin concert movie and was approached by Bill Flanagan, a longtime producer for MTV Networks specials, who asked her for the umpteenth time if she’d be willing to do a Crossroads.
Much to his shock, she said she could fit it in right before rehearsal started for this year’s Fleetwood Mac tour. And before he could start listing potential names, Nicks told him about how Lady Antebellum had just popped up in her rapid-eye-movement revelation.

Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood on Sharing a Stage With Stevie Nicks and the Band's 'New Normal'

The collaboration, airing on CMT Crossroads TONIGHT (Sept. 13th), was quite literally a dream-come-true -- for both parties.

"It really was one of the best things we've ever been a part of," says Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood, daydreaming about the band's performance alongside Stevie Nicks.

"Performing with Stevie Nicks is by far the coolest thing we have ever done in our career," - Lady A's Charles Kelley

Click for more on CMT Crossroads: Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum.Lady Antebellum may be on hiatus, but fans are still getting a chance to see something new from the Nashville trio.

Lady A will join Stevie Nicks on Friday night's episode of "CMT Crossroads," the show that matches country stars with partners from different musical genres.

"Performing with Stevie Nicks is by far the coolest thing we have ever done in our career," Lady A's Charles Kelley said. "I mean, it really was. We are actually going to have a little viewing party at my house that night because we're just excited."

CMT recorded the performance last spring in Los Angeles before Lady A singer Hillary Scott gave birth to her first child this summer. The group has been on a break for two months and won't return to the road till later this year.

The show airs 10 p.m. EDT and pairs the trio with Nicks, a member of Fleetwood Mac, a group Lady A is often compared to because of its use of harmony. The singers will tackle songs from the catalogs of each, including "Rhiannon," ''Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" and "Need You Now."

"I mean, honestly, it really was one of those collaborations that I think if we had to put five names on a list, you know, who would have been on it?" Kelley said. "I mean, dream lists, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks would have been in that five. So the fact that it was her idea and she came to us about it was even cooler."

Lady Antebellum taped their CMT Crossroads performance with Stevie Nicks Tuesday night in Los Angeles
The show will premiere in the coming months.  While in town for the taping, Lady A is also getting some serious hang time with the rock legend.

The group's Charles Kelley says, "She invited us to her house one night.  So, we're gonna go hang out with her at her house, which I'm gonna die."

It was actually Stevie's idea to do the CMT Crossroads with Lady Antebellum, and they all hopped on a conference call a few weeks back to prepare the show.  The members of Lady A were floored that Stevie is a big fan of their music.  Hillary Scott , who is expecting her first child in July, was very taken with Stevie's spirit in that call.

"I joked, and I'm kind of not kidding, with my husband when I got home after the phone call, I said, 'I really kinda want her to be the honorary godmother of our child,'" Hillary says with a laughs.  "She was just this amazing presence and person to talk to."

Charles cut his musical teeth on Stevie's classic album with her band Fleetwood Mac , Rumours .  He discovered the LP in his parents' record collection, and Charles says, "I just was like, 'Oh my gosh.  Who in the world are these guys?'  Just played it over and over in my room."

Charles adds that performing this show with Stevie Nicks is a real full circle moment for him.  We'll keep you posted when CMT announces an airdate for this installment of Crossroads .

Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum Team for 'Crossroads' Taping
Ten-song set includes Fleetwood Mac and solo hits

January 30, 2013

When rock icon Stevie Nicks and country trio Lady Antebellum convened at L.A.'s Sony Pictures Studios Tuesday to tape an upcoming episode of CMT's Crossroads, the most excited people in the room of a thousand or so were clearly Nicks and the Nashville trio.

In fact, it was hard to tell who was the bigger fan, with both consistently praising the other's work. It started from the very outset: after Nicks apologized for flubbing the opening lines of Lady Antebellum's "Love Don't Live Here," Charles Kelley let her know all was forgiven by shouting "Stevie Fucking Nicks!"

100 Greatest Singers: Stevie Nicks

Though no one in the audience seemed to mind starting off with five Lady Antebellum songs, Kelley commented at least three times on the format: "You're gonna have to suffer through a few Lady A songs first," he joked.

Nicks certainly did not mind. She told the audience she spent three months listening to the band's songs in preparation for this show. "These songs are amazing," she said. "These songs make you feel like you're in love."

Her biggest praise came for the new ballad "Golden," a song that Kelley explained is on their forthcoming album, which they sent to Nicks in hope of doing it on this night. She said that after a half a minute of listening to the song she was crying. She called it "their 'Landslide.'" To which Kelley responded, "Now we might cry."

When a piano was rolled out, while Kelley was tinkering around with Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," Nicks hung over the piano. "This is every man's fantasy – Stevie Nicks draped over a piano," he said. "I would like a picture of this."

After Nicks left the stage for the upbeat "Downtown," she and her band returned for her turn. Kelley let everyone know the cultural significance of these songs by introducing "Gold Dust Woman": "If you don't know this next song, you suck."

Swept up in the night, Kelley had several humorous moments, from his attempt at the trademark Nicks twirl to recounting listening to Fleetwood Mac records in his bedroom at age 10. "Now we're hanging out. We're besties," he quipped.

Maybe they're not besties yet, though Nicks did tell the audience she had gifts backstage for Lady Antebellum's pregnant frontwoman, Hillary Scott. "Edge of Seventeen," one of her biggest solo hits, is a song she doesn't like to share with anybody because it is so personal, she said.

"I'm proud to share it with Lady Antebellum, because they're good enough to do it," she said.

Nicks took the time to recall the stories behind each of her songs, like how she wrote "Landslide" in Aspen, Colorado in 1973 and how she felt "a twinge of something, that this song is gonna be super-important in my life." She called it "the foundation of Fleetwood Mac," while Kelley called it "the greatest song ever." After a sublime rendition, Scott said, "Makes me cry every time."

Before a raucous "Stop Dragging My Heart Around," a song she originally performed with Tom Petty, Nicks told of producer Jimmy Iovine's insistence on finding a single for her debut solo album, Bella Donna. If it hadn't been for that demand, she said, she might not have had a solo career. She learned a lesson, she said, about listening to others and not letting pride get in the way. To which Kelly added, "Every person at our label has a huge smile right now." So did everyone in the venue by the time they finished "Rhiannon."

Set list:
"Love Don't Live Here
"Need You Now"
"Golden
"Cold As Stone"
"Just A Kiss
"Downtown"
"Gold Dust Woman
