The beloved incarnation's first together since 1987's Tango In The Night and the band's first No. 1 since 1982's Mirage, the 5x platinum affair features compelling new versions of classic material like "The Chain," "Go Your Own Way," "Landslide," "Rhiannon," "Dreams" and "Silver Springs" alongside fine new additions such as "Bleed to Love Her," "Temporary One" and "Sweet Girl." Although the majority of the classic '70s line-up returns to the fold here including Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, Christine McVie opted out (she does appear as a guest on a few tracks but doesn't contribute as a songwriter). Say You Will also marks the first appearance of superstar duo Buckingham and Nicks together on a Fleetwood Mac record since 1987's triple platinum Tango in the Night and they each offer up a diplomatic nine songs apiece which frequently recapture their past melodic and melodramatic glory.

Fleetwood Mac: In Concert Set for Triple Vinyl Debut

Fleetwood Mac: in Concert Set for Vinyl Debut

Friday, 12 February 2016
Press Release: Warner Music

Triple-LP Collection Features 22 Live Recordings From The Band’s 1979-80 Tour

That Were Previously Available Only As Part Of The Tusk: Deluxe Edition

Available On March 4 From Warner Bros. Records

Fleetwood Mac unveiled a massive Deluxe Edition of its revered double album TUSK late last year that featured 22 previously unreleased live performances selected from the band’s 1979-80 tour. Until now, those concert recordings have only been available as part of the set and only on CD and digitally. That will change soon with the release of FLEETWOOD MAC: IN CONCERT.

All of the live music from the 2015 reissue of TUSK will be available on March 4 from Warner Bros. Records as a three-LP set. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl, the albums will be presented in a tri-fold jacket.

Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks originally released TUSK in October of 1979. The Grammy Award-nominated, double-album went onto sell more than four million copies worldwide and introduced fans to hits like ‘Sara,’ ‘Think About Me,’ and the title track.

The music heard on IN CONCERT was recorded at four stops during the band’s 111-show world tour promoting TUSK. This new collection serves as a worthy companion to the classic 1980 album LIVE. Although a few songs are duplicated from that album, including ‘Say You Love Me,’ ‘Landslide’ and ‘Go Your Own Way,’ each performance on IN CONCERT is unique and taken from a different show.

IN CONCERT boasts 10 songs not heard on LIVE, including ‘World Turning’ from the Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 self-titled release, and ‘The Chain’ from the band’s best-selling album RUMOURS (1977), a Grammy-award winning juggernaut that has sold more than 40 million copies.

Several songs from IN CONCERT were recorded at the Checkerdome in St. Louis just a month after the release of TUSK, and only seven shows into the tour. Those performances capture the band already in top form on songs like ‘Angel,’ ‘Save Me A Place’and ‘What Makes You Think You’re The One.’

The rest of the performances were recorded several months later, including 11 songs from the band’s six-night stand at Wembley Arena in London in June 1980. Among the highlights are ‘That’s Enough For Me,’ ‘Sisters Of The Moon,’ and the Top 10 smash from RUMOURS, ‘You Making Loving Fun.’

Mick Fleetwood goes his own way: Dreams of vinyl

CALL me retro but I still love records. I have great memories of shopping for vinyl, playing amazing albums, listening to records with friends, trading music and discovering new sounds.

By: Mick Fleetwood
February 23, 2014

Records have always been a huge source of inspiration. To me there is nothing better than looking at the cover artwork, reading the liner notes and taking in the album’s entire experience.

The way they master music today, much of the integrity of the sound – the emotion and subtlety – is lost. Fleetwood Mac records have an organic sound that is more comfortable to the human ear. At least to mine!

I love listening. I am a great listener, although perhaps a few of my exes might not agree! But I repeat, I am a great listener. Being a drummer, I am well trained to listen. I am not playing a melody but listening to see where the beats come in, that is my skill. My hearing is sharp, acute, first rate.

When we were in the last phases of making the Rumours album, it dawned on the band that all that listening, playing, singing and writing, all that heartache and pain, time and poetry, was just sitting there on two reels of tape, totally vulnerable.

We realised that anything could happen to it. Of course, we never had a hard drive to back it up like you do now. It could all have been lost in an instant.

All kinds of what if? paranoia flooded our brains. What if there was an earthquake, a fire? What if a giant magnet came down from outer space and wiped out half of our reel? We made contingency plans and had copies made of the multi-tracks. Those we had locked up in a bank vault in Phoenix just to be safe.

We were like expectant parents with that album. We went so far as to accompany our “baby” to the “delivery room” and watched the first pressing of Rumours at the pressing plant. We stayed for hours, checking and rechecking to make sure the sound had kept its integrity.

We even hired an engineer whose only job was to watch over the quality of our sound. We were that protective.

My ears miss that analogue sound. Most people have no idea that what they are hearing on a daily basis is actually digital sound, or that digital sound has no sound waves, no high fidelity. All that compressing, in my opinion, takes a lot of the traditional dynamics out.

Fleetwood Mac released a full box set of vinyl recently and I know I am not alone in my fanatical audiophile ways. I just picked up a small, portable record player sold by Jack White’s Third Man Records. This record player actually has great sound.

I use it on the road so I can pacify my demanding ears and I have a lot of fun with it. At home I have a Thorens deck to play my beloved vinyl.

Did you know that you can actually play the gold ones, too? This, I discovered, after some hullaballoo in the late Seventies when people were complaining that their Rumours albums were not actually playing the album they had bought but a Frank Sinatra record instead.

I remember popping my gold record out of the frame to see what all the fuss was about. Sure enough, there was old Frankie Boy crooning away and my gold record spinning on the record player. Ironic after all the care we took at the pressing plant! I guess someone on the assembly line had gone to sleep on the job.

Of course Warner Brothers stopped the press but, hands down, I bet that Frank Sinatra/Fleetwood Mac album may be one of the most collectable we put out. Meet our precious baby, Frank. Isn’t he cute?

Warner Bros. releases Fleetwood Mac masterpiece 'TUSK' on 180-gram audiophile 2xLP vinyl

Fleetwood Mac – Tusk – Warner Brothers (1979)/ Reprise Records (2012) 531909- 180-gram audiophile.

In 1979, Fleetwood Mac recorded Tusk. At a cost exceeding 1 million dollars, and taking up two years in studio time, this double album was a significant departure. Under the artistic direction of Buckingham, the twenty-song project mixes a variety of musical styles in a fragmented technical whirlwind. Surrounding the concise songwriting of McVie and Nicks is the spontaneity of Buckingham. However, the anchor to this music is the inimitable rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. It is hard to think of another bass/drum partnership that is so fluent and cohesive. Side 1 opens with a subtle atmospheric number (“Over And Over”) that showcases McVie’s soulful alto, and the blended backup vocals. The next song is more experimental with Buckingham adding some New Wave guitar jaggedness. The juxtaposition continues with a buoyant love song (with impeccable harmonies) arranged in a joyful, British folk romp (“Save Me A Place”). The side concludes with Nicks’ ruminative “Sara”. Her deep-throated singing is compelling and the ethereal backup singing on the bridge is exquisite.
