After 40 years, 16 different members, and several break-ups, Fleetwood Mac endures as one of the world's most popular groups, selling more than 100 million albums. Our look at this amazing survival story begins with Fleetwood Mac finding its artistic niche in soft rock driven by haunting lyrics and female vocals. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie remained constant fixtures, while Christine McVie helped begin the group's transition to softer rock. With the arrival of Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac developed its signature sound. The group produced albums such as "Fleetwood Mac," "Rumours" and "Tusk," and a string of hit singles including "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way," "Over My Head," and "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow."

FLEETWOOD MAC LIVE IN BOSTON

VH1 Classics is running Fleetwood Mac's Soundstage Show that was recorded in 2003 (released on DVD as "Live in Boston" in 2004) from today July 5th through Saturday July 18th at 4pm and 8pm daily. Check local listings. It's an hour and a half, so it looks like an edited version of the two DVD set that was released.

FLEETWOOD MAC "LIVE"

Fleetwood Mac's 10 month, four continent tour that began in Oct. 1979 and ended in September 1980 is documented in this two-recorded live set. Recorded in various locales, the LP spans some of the best of the group's material, all delivered in crisp fashion. Much of the material deviates from their studio counterparts in that there is spontaneous interaction among members. While such Mac standards as "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way," "Over My Head" and "Don't Stop" are included, there are also less obvious cuts selected such as "Fireflies" and Brian Wilson's "The Farmer's Daughter." The sound quality is extraordinary and the packaging exceptional making it a valid collection by one of the world's most popular groups. Best cuts:"Go Your Own Way," "The Farmer's Daughter," "Sara," "Monday Morning," "Landslide," "One More Night." (Billboard Magazine, 12/20/80)

"Live" debuted at no.49 on Billboard Magazines Top LP's and Tape Chart December 27, 1980 and peaked at no.14 spending 18 weeks on the chart.

"Landslide" for STEVIE NICKS at MSG!!

On June 11th, the fifth grade PS22 Chorus of Staten Island performed its rendition of "Landslide" for Stevie Nicks at Madison Square Garden. Stevie was incredibly gracious and kind to all of us, as you can see in the video! She gave every child individual attention and reminded them that anything is within their grasp.

The audio on the video is very low, but of course this had to be posted even if there was no sound at all! The kids added a little piece of "Silver Springs" as an intro to their performance to great effect! And watching Stevie leading the kids from the aisle at MSG is my outstanding memory of the performance, so I'm glad the videographers caught that. It's too bad it's not in smell-o-vision, because this won't capture the KIDS' most outstanding memory of the day -- how good Stevie smelled!!

STEVIE IN UPCOMING SPECIAL ISSUE OF ROLLING STONE MAG

DAVID WILD SPEAKS TO STEVIE NICKS ABOUT MICHAEL JACKSON... TO APPEAR IN UPCOMING SPECIAL ISSUE OF ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE.

"Midway through the film, Stevie Nicks -- a truly beautiful woman inside and out who I've loved since high school -- called to discuss Michael Jackson for a special issue of "Rolling Stone" that's coming right up. So I found myself sneaking out to lobby and recording our talk about Michael, music, fame and life as the absurly loud sounds of endless transformer battles bleed loudly through the theater walls."

David Wild is an Emmy-nominated television writer, a best-selling author, Contributing Editor for Rolling Stone, producer of The Chris Isaak Hour on the Bio Channel and wrote the foreword in the liner notes of Stevie's Crystal Visions Best Of CD/DVD release in 2007.
