Stevie Nicks: "plans are definitely underway to prep "Buckingham Nicks" for CD release"

Stevie Nicks feels positive that 1973's Buckingham Nicks, the sole joint album with then-lover Lindsey Buckingham will see a release next year.

The pair's pre-Fleetwood Mac album, which has never been released on CD, celebrates it's 40th anniversary next September. Over the years, Buckingham Nicks has gained a legion of die-hard fans, who have sought out pristine vinyl pressings of the Polydor release for major money. A 30th anniversary release was tentatively scheduled back in 2003, but never materialized.

It was the album's closing number, "Frozen Love" that gained Mick Fleetwood's attention while scouting Los Angeles' Sound City recording studio. The album's producer, Keith Olsen, played the track as a demonstration of the studio's capabilities and hooked Fleetwood who soon asked Buckingham -- and by extension -- Nicks to join Fleetwood Mac. Two of the Buckingham Nicks tracks would be included on future albums -- Nicks' "Crystal" found a home on Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled collection and a live version of "Don't Let Me Down Again" was featured on 1980's Fleetwood Mac Live.

Stevie Nicks told us that plans are definitely underway to prep their first Buckingham Nicks release on CD: "This is, the coming up year is the 40 years. So, what we're thinking is we might do something to celebrate the 40 years thing and we're going to try and put the record out. The only reason why it hasn't come out is because it kinda belongs to three different people and it's like owning a car, a third of a car. And everybody has to be on the same page and nobody has ever been on the same page. So we're hoping this year people will get on the same page and we can put it out since this is it's 40th."

We asked her if there's any chance for a few Buckingham Nicks shows to promote the new set: "Very possibly! Very possibly! 'Cause we. . . that's easy. Yeah."

Stevie Nicks & Marc Cohn hit the stage Friday at Jones Beach...

Stevie Nicks to Headline at Jones Beach Friday
Marc Cohn will open for the rock and roll icon at Wantagh venue.

By Nicole Murphy

Nicks will hit the stage Friday at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh following famed folk rocker Marc Cohn. Between her time with the British-American rock band and her solo career, Nicks has sold more than 140 million albums and created more than 40 Top 50 hits. Nicks closed out last year's Nikon at Jones Beach Theater summer schedule.

Still producing hits today, Nicks' seventh studio album, "In Your Dreams," was released in May 2011 and sold more than 50,000 copies in its first week. Her first studio album since 2001's "Trouble in Shangri-La." "In Your Dreams" also commemorated the 30th anniversary of Nicks' debut record "Bella Donna."

Nicks' current tour is still celebrating "In Your Dreams." Fans can expect to hear a mix of hits from both Fleetwood Mac and Nicks' solo work.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday and Cohn is set to open at 8 p.m. The concert is scheduled for rain or shine.

Stevie Nicks to perform at Jones Beach
and PNC Bank Arts Center
By Kara Yorio

She is a rock legend, the owner of an instantly identifiable voice, a woman who has survived professionally through the onslaught of female pop and rock performers and personally through very public drama and drug battles. Stevie Nicks is not just an act – she is talent plus passion, emotion always bubbling to the surface in her deeplypersonal songs.

TELL ME MORE: Nicks has a voice that has resonated for decades and continues to touch fans old and new, whether solo, in duets with Tom Petty and Sheryl Crow or as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Onstage, she twirls around and works magic, as she has for years. Nicks was a mentor on the most recent season of "American Idol," singing a bit with Elise Testone in one of the highlights of the "Idol" experience for the Kinnelon native Testone.

DETAILS: Friday, Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, 1000 Ocean Parkway. Tickets are $20 to $125. Saturday, PNC Bank Arts Center, Garden State Parkway, exit 116. Tickets are $25 to $125. 800-745-3000, livenation.com or ticketmaster.com.

Stevie Nicks to perform at Hershey's Star Pavilion
By CHRIS MAUTNER

Stand back, stand back — Stevie Nicks is coming to town.

The scarf-wielding singer-songwriter will perform a solo concert Tuesday night at The Star Pavilion in Hershey.

Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, which she and then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham joined in 1974. Their contributions helped propel the group into superstardom and their second album together, 1977’s “Rumors,” remains one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Nicks’ contributions to the group include such beloved and chart-topping songs as “Landslide,” “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman” and “Rhiannon.”

In addition to her work with Fleetwood Mac, she’s had a successful solo career, penning such well-known songs as “Edge of Seventeen,” “Talk to Me” and “Stand Back.”

Nicks is touring in support of her latest album — her first in 10 years — “In Your Dreams,” which was released in 2011. The album received largely positive reviews — Rolling Stone said, “It’s her finest collection of songs since the Eighties” — and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.

It’s a safe bet that concertgoers will hear a few of those new songs mixed in with classic material.

“I can no longer ask people to buy records, because nobody buys records anymore,” Nicks said in a recent interview with The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger. “All I can do is say, ‘This is where I am right now, these are new songs. I want you to love them and feel them and listen to them. And whether you get the record or not, you’re going to hear them tonight.’¤”

The opening act will be Marc Cohn, a singer-songwriter best known for the 1991 song “Walkin’ in Memphis.”

Interview: Stevie Nicks - Thankful to her audience

Jones Beach:
Stevie Nicks' 'Dreams' spot
Long-Island Newsday

Stevie Nicks is on a mission.

Though her album "In Your Dreams" (Warner Bros./Reprise) reached No. 6 when it was released last year and spawned two Top 25 hits on the adult contemporary charts, it hasn't made the kind of impact the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is used to. So Nicks is taking to the road again this summer -- kicking off her tour Friday at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater -- to bring the music to more people.

"I lost my mom in December," Nicks said, calling from her home in Los Angeles. "But one of the last things she said to me was: 'Don't you give up on this record. . . . You take 2012 and you go out and work this record because this record is your little masterpiece. Don't be swayed by everybody else. You do what you need to do to sing these songs.' She knew it was important to me."

You really are showcasing "In Your Dreams" on this tour.

No one puts six new songs in their set. You're taking a big chance that people are going to say, "Excuse me, what songs have you just taken out to put that song in?" But that didn't happen last tour, and we were able to do the important old songs and the new songs. I feel like it's really a gift that my audience has given me to allow me to do the new songs and not start complaining. . . . I feel really thankful for that. You feel creative. You feel like you're still a really creative artist.

That creativity is still on display in the new song "Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream)." What more could you possibly do for a hit today?

I know! [Laughs.] I'm trying to understand the music business today, and I'm trying to learn why it is that that's true. I'm not feeling quite so bad about it anymore because it's happening to everybody. It's not just me. . . . It's happening to everyone unless you're 20 and have a big hit single. Then, even if you are 20, you have to be nervous about that 19-year-old who's going to come up with a song that someone else wrote for them that's really great and wipe you off the map. It isn't good for the young kids and it isn't good for us, either.

So you have to do something else to get the word out about your new music.

Yes, and if you're me, you're lucky because you get to walk out on the stage and say, "This is not a Stevie Nicks' greatest hits tour. This is a tour promoting a record called 'In Your Dreams.' I'm giving it a second run because I believe in it that much, and I hope that you like them. And if you like them and you're a part of my little army, do me a favor and tell a friend." I get to do that. Most people don't get to do that. I feel like I'm really lucky, and I'm in a good place in the music business. My heart breaks for the younger artists -- because I know that there's another Fleetwood Mac out there, and I know that there's The Who out there, that there's a James Taylor out there, a Carole King out there. I know they're all out there, but . . . someone has to figure this out.

Song Premiere: Best Coast Performs Fleetwood Mac's 'Rhiannon'

Song Premiere:
Best Coast Performs Fleetwood Mac's 'Rhiannon'

Best Coast covers Fleetwood Mac's 1975 smash "Rhiannon" on a forthcoming tribute album — a task which clearly requires quite a bit of reverence, to the point where singer Bethany Cosentino even channels Stevie Nicks' warbling rasp. And, while the song's familiar guitar line is replaced with a dramatically simplified piano melody, the result captures the melancholic yearning of "Rhiannon" — its mystical side, its understanding of unattainable love — without losing the beach-bound giddiness of Best Coast's simple, shiny sound.
