Welcome Back Christine McVie! Fleetwood Mac hope to make a tour announcement in 2014

Christine McVie is back with Fleetwood Mac officially.

The band's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, has confirmed to Billboard that McVie has rejoined the band after departing the group in 1998.

Rosenberg says that McVie "has indeed re-joined Fleetwood Mac and we are hoping to make an announcement about a possible tour for the full tilt Macsters some time in 2014."

Welcome back Christine!!

Wow! I never thought Christine would 100% commit to Fleetwood Mac ever again after hearing Stevie speak for years about how she was truly over touring. I always thought the Mac might eventually back down and allow her to record with them and not tour...but the fact she's agreed to both is nothing short of a miracle. Welcome back Christine! :)

^^ ^^ Awesome david marx!!!

An awesome 2014 would be the band going back into studio in the next couple months ... maybe release a second EP with songs they decide WON'T go on a new album ... do a short maybe five or six city tour mid-summer ... go back and finish the record and then end the year with releasing the record, promoting it and hitting the road again.

Please tour Australia a lot of people disappointed that last years tour had to be canceled

I've seen FM on tour several times since Christine left. How about a new album before a tour announcement!

Please let this mean there is an album coming... a double album to make up for lost time!

I second that sentiment about an album. There's just GOT to be one!!! Please don't turn this great, amazing news into a disappointment. It's been 27 years since the Fab Five put out TANGO!!! We have waited long enough, Fleetwood Mac. It's time to give your audience something new to get excited about, not just rocking to the oldies. If there isn't new music, there will be a sad, nostalgic tenor to this thing that doesn't need to be there. Let's be realistic. While the band can play as well or better than ever, they certainly can't hit and sustain the notes as they once could. If we have new songs then we won't automatically rate their live performances against past glories. Please let Fleetwood Mac be a current and vital force again....

A new album is needed full stop! 2 tours without a new album is a little ridiculous! On the 2009 tour, there wasn't even any merchandise at the shows (at least not at the venue I attended). Of course we want the old, classic crowd pleasing songs, of which there would be many more with Christine back but some fresh stuff would be good too. I always think 3 maybe 4 decent songs could be put in place of the everlasting and droaning I'm So Afraid! Sorry I hate that song.
Sad to sound so critical on just hearing such awesome news but it has to be said and I agree with most, if not all of the above comments.

And of course there will then be the matter of how available and affordable the concert tickets will be!! Last time was ridiculous and left a lot of loyal fans sad and angry that they had to miss out.

^^ ^^@ Anonymous - I don't think a double-album would do very well. 'Say You Will' was essentially a double album if you count the two bonus tracks on the expanded version. Plus, it took the band a year to complete it. Twelve or thirteen tracks - with a bonus track version of a pre-album digital EP - would be really smart.

^^ ^ @ Paul ... it will be interesting to see how they fill a 2 1/2 hour set with three songwriters' songs. With Christine back in play Lindsey and Stevie could certainly stand to shorten some of their longer stage versions - namely "I'm So Afraid," "Gold Dust Woman," and "Rhiannon." I would like to see Stevie and Lindsey continue to dust off long-forgotten songs on stage. If "Gold Dust Woman" was shortened (or skipped altogether, c'mon how many times have all seen/heard "Gold Dust Woman" live?) we could get some more Stevie Mac rarities like "Storms," "Seven Wonders," or even "Crystal."

Please release a new album or a boxed set of previously unreleased studio recordings like The Dealer, If You Were My Love, demos, b-sides, etc.

I wonder how much longer until the tour dates are announced?

How much longer u think until tour dates are announced?

Great news considering the muscial chemistry between Lindsey and Christine!! They are both studio "junkies" as Christine has admitted about herself. A tour will be awesome but we all want some new tunes to add to our Mac favorites! And she has supposedly written several new songs that are intentionally commercial as she admitted in a recent BBC interview.

Am I the only one who is kind of bummed? I was hoping for a Buckingham Nicks re-do and tour, and I fear Christine coming on will bring in another "greatest hits" tour... *ducks*

I feel the same way. I'm not happy that Christine is back. However, every time Fleetwood Mac has tried to introduce their new songs into their concerts, no one wants to hear them which is why they always go back to doing a "greatest hits" type of tour. Sad Angel and Without You didn't go over well at their concerts. Those two songs were dropped from their last concert in Vegas. It's funny how everyone wants new music but doesn't like it when they try to play it on tour. Why should they even bother. If they do record a new CD, now it's back to Buckingham's trash and less of Stevie's songs.

Brian said...

i was at the show dec 30th the last show in vegas (real show) and those 2 songs were not dropped and people did take to the songs so thats not true.

Anonymous said...

The songs weren't on the set list for their private show. I was at THAT show.

Anonymous said...

and it was not a public show nor was it a full show so they had to cut the set list down. what maybe 1 1/2 hr long from what i heard. thats more the reason why not because people did not like the new songs. i went to about 5 public shows and the songs were well liked by the fans.

When I was at one of their "public" shows, unfortunately, a lot of people used the two news songs to leave to do whatever (eat, bathroom break). It's sad because the songs were really good live. However, you can't please everyone.

When are the tour dates coming out?!

Nickslive said...

Not sure when tour dates will be announced... If they are touring in the Summer, which Lindsey indicated they would, we could be month or two away from any date announcements.

Thank you for at least trying to answer. I know you dont have any more info than the rest of us, but it sure would be nice to know soon.

"Choose. ME or Christine. I will quit this band again before I tour with her after she left. Like THAT.''
Why? Percentages? Yet he's willing to record with her?

January 20, 2014: MF has not told SN or JM. Pillow talk less than 48 hours old.
