Huge gains on the UK Top 100 Albums Chart this week. Fleetwood Mac's 2 disc version "The Very Best Of" moves up 35 spots just missing the top 40 landing at #44. On itunes in the UK as of right now the 2002 single disc version of "The Very Best Of" is sitting at #8 in the Top Albums category no doubt sparked by discounting of the album down to £4.99 which is a great bargain, and likely contributing to the massive gain on the Album Chart.

"Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" New Hall of Fame Exhibit will feature Stevie & Christine

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum says it will open the world's first exhibit devoted to rock's most influential female artists.

"Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power"
Open May 13, 2011 - February 26, 2012 | Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum: Floors 5 & 6

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will open a groundbreaking and provocative new exhibit that will illustrate the important roles women have played in rock and roll, from its inception through today. Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power will highlight the flashpoints, the firsts, the best, the celebrated -- and sometimes lesser-known women -- who moved rock and roll music and the American culture forward.

Eight eras covered spanning the 1920's through the 90's.

STEVIE NICKS AND CHRISTINE MCVIE
both Hall of Fame inductees will feature in the 70's era.

I Will Survive: The 1970s – Rockers to Disco Divas
Women are in the center of the ‘70s mainstream, from Joan Jett and the Runaways, Heart and Fleetwood Mac to Donna Summer. The gains of the feminist movement throughout the ‘70s enabled women working in all areas of the music industry to assume more control over their careers.

Among the artifacts that will be displayed are:

  • Stevie Nicks’ handwritten lyrics to “Stand Back”

FLEETWOOD MAC Fans mobilize to get "THE CHAIN" to No. 1 in The UK

There's a massive push going on at the moment in the UK and on Facebook to get Fleetwood Mac to No.1 with the song "THE CHAIN". The song from 1977's Rumours album is the official theme song in the UK for Formula One Racing.

So the idea is to get as many people as possible IN THE UK to buy the track beginning February 28th, so that it impacts the charts and is hopefully No.1 for the 6th of March for the start of the race weekend.

To participate, first off, join the Facebook Page HERE.
Then beginning February 28th start buying
'THE CHAIN - by: FLEETWOOD MAC'
FROM THE ALBUM THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC'
from your favorite online retailer...

All purchases before February 28th wont help towards the targeted final tally!
I must admit, it's a valiant effort and a monumental task...but it can happen.  They will need everyones participation that can help out (In The UK).  I think it's kind of cool and a great experiment in a way, to show that mobilization through social media can make things happen.  We've likely all heard about the recent events in Egypt where social media reportedly played a huge part in mobilizing people to protest, so we know if the passion is there the people can pull it off.

Just an example:  Ke$ha’s "We R Who We R" debuted recently atop the singles chart in the UK on sales of 90,139 copies. It's a lot, yes.  It'll take an army, a Fleetwood Mac army of fans to get sales to that level.

Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart Discuss Touring Together for the First Time

Idea for the shows came from Stewart's daughters.
Plus: New LPs from both

Rod Stewart hadn't seen Stevie Nicks since the mid-1980s, when both of them were recording in the same L.A. studio. Until last month, that is, when the pair, who are gearing up for a 16-date co-headlining tour‚ were reunited to perform on Ellen. "I tiptoed up behind him and put my arms around his waist from the back," Nicks tells Rolling Stone. Adds Stewart, "I'd know those hands anywhere."

The pair have never worked together before, but they've crossed paths over the years. Nicks recalls attending a New Year's party in the Seventies at Stewart's L.A. home. Nicks remembers Stewart, afraid she was drunk and might damage his collection of Tiffany lamps, asking, "Can I have that glass of wine before you walk in?' I was horrified." Stewart says, "Oh, the bitch I am sometimes. I probably wanted more wine for myself."

The idea for the shows (which kick off in March) came last year from Stewart's daughters Ruby and Kimberly. "They love Stevie," he says. "She's just ultra-cool – she has a cult." Nicks will open the three-plus-hour show with solo tunes and Fleetwood Mac classics, followed by a Stewart set that will likely mix deep tracks and hits.

100 Greatest Singers of All Time: Stevie Nicks

They're still working out the pacing, but there will be a portion of the shows where they sing together. "We won't let people down on that score," Stewart says, adding he hopes to tackle Nicks and Don Henley's 1981 duet, "Leather and Lace." Nicks wants to join Stewart on "The First Cut Is the Deepest" and "Reason to Believe." "That'd be a wonderful one," he says. "We're both sort of sopranos, so it'll sound great."

"CHEAPER THAN FREE" Dave Stewart Interview Includes Much Longer Song Clip.

Check this out!... Get to know a little bit of history on Dave Stewart... PLUS there's a much longer clip of "Cheaper Than Free" than what's on The Blackbird Diaries website... I'm liking what I hear.. Sounds really great!... This interview was recorded last fall when he was in Nashville.

"What's faster than a fast car
A beating heart
What's deeper than a deep well
The love into which I fell
More important than freedom
Being needed
More exciting than high fashion
High passion!"

It's the version that's on Dave's album (he called it the country version), which sounds as if there's an alternate version that'll be on Stevie's album.  He also tells the story about where the song title came from.

Dave's album The Blackbird Diaries is due out in May.

"Here's the episode with Dave Stewart. Acts he's been part of include Eurythmics, Traveling Wilburys, The Tourists, and Longdancer. As a songwriter and producer, he's worked with dozens of acts including No Doubt, Imogen Heap, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Katy Perry, Aretha Franklin, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

His new album, The Blackbird Diaries, was recorded in just four days and includes 14 new songs, including a co-write with Bob Dylan and duets with Stevie Nicks, Martina McBride, and Colbie Caillat.

This episode talks his new album and has the stories behind the songs and how they were recorded. We talk Dave's first record deal, working with Elton John's record label, touring the world with Annie Lennox, his songwriting process, how Traveling Wilburys was formed, artist development, and what it's like to work with iconic artists like Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks."
