New Release Mick Fleetwood Blues Band Feat. Rick Vito Live at The Belly Up

MICK FLEETWOOD BLUES BAND FEATURING RICK VITO  – LIVE AT THE BELLY UP

LIMITED TIME - $9.99 SALE PRICE

Mick Fleetwood, the iconic co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, is celebrating his blues heritage with The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, featuring Rick Vito. As well as their own material, the band pays tribute to the original Fleetwood Mac, the blues band that started it all in 1967. Bringing together four stellar Blues and Rock musicians, Mick Fleetwood presents Live at The Belly Up, a 2-hour live album featuring 17 tracks.

At the front of the group is Rick Vito, veteran Bluesman and former Fleetwood Mac vocalist and lead guitarist. Rick adds his personal touch while staying true to the styling of early Fleetwood Mac front man Peter Green. “A lot of guys can play the licks but Rick has the tone and that’s so important in real blues,” says Mick Fleetwood.  With Fleetwood anchoring the band on percussion, the “other half” of the rhythm section is Lenny Castellanos on bass. As Mick points out, “I’ve played with John McVie for 40 years, any bassist who plays with me has big shoes to fill.” Lenny does a great job filling those shoes while complimenting Mick’s unique and revered drum style. Mark Johnstone ties everything together on the keys and backup vocals, infusing a vibrant energy to the group.

Live at The Belly Up, features 17 tracks and over two hours of music including

Mick Fleetwood Blues Band Fall Tour Dates Announced

Fleetwood Mac drummer and co-founder Mick Fleetwood will hit the road this fall with his own band, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, performing 13 shows across the western U.S. and Canada.

In addition to its namesake, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band consists of singer/guitarist Rick Vito, who was also a member of Fleetwood Mac (1987-1991), bassist Lenny Castellanos and keyboardist Mark Johnstone who also provides background vocals.  Some years ago, this same line-up recorded Blue Again!, a live album that exemplifies the quartet’s power as a performing act, and underscored their adherence to the living, breathing genre that is the blues. Soon after its release, the album made it into the Top 5 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart and went on to be nominated for a GRAMMY® in the Best Traditional Blues Album category.

“Over my career I’ve been called a pop star and a rock star, yet in my inner heart, I will always be part bluesman,” explains Fleetwood. “On my journey from blues to a life of rock ‘n’ roll, I’ve always remembered where I started.”

Aside from originals, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band repertoire concentrates on material drawn from the formative years of Fleetwood Mac. 1967-1969 Peter Green era songs are covered, such as “Oh Well,” “Rattlesnake Shake,” “Love That Burns” and “Black Magic Woman,” later made famous by Santana, as well and blues classics like “Shake Your Money Maker” and “When the Levee Breaks” are also key components of The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band’s set list.

Fleetwood’s band delivers ‘only on Maui’ sounds

Photo Aubrey Hord
Rock star drummer Mick Fleetwood performed with his band at the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Thursday evening and pulled in a mix of friends and special guests to create a truly unique “only on Maui” moment for music fans. Youth taiko drummers from Zenshin Daiko, directed by Anthony Jones, created a wall of resonant drumbeats to back up the sounds of The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band (Rick Vito on guitar, Lenny Castellanos on bass and Paul Johnstone on keyboard), along with Glen Lacy on the African djembe drum, Carlos Garcia on hand drums and Paul Marchetti on more drums. Willie K and Eric Gilliom added their vocals and guitars, and a brass element was added with Johnny Zangrando on saxophone and Henry Arroyo on trombone.

Suretone Entertainment powered by Cinsay announces today the results from the first online live music event hosted on SuretoneLive.com. Measured by viewership, social interaction and eCommerce, the event was a huge success. The online show, which was planned, only a few days in advance, with less then $400 in advertising and promotion for the virtual portion, yet drew thousand’s to the site’s page. Within a few hours, viewers from 30 different countries around the world were watching and sharing via the web and on mobile devices.

The online portion of the concert was set up just days in advance to showcase the evolved technologies of Cinsay’s Video Smart Store™ platform and to launch the next evolution of online music entertainment, seamlessly bundled with social sharing and eCommerce. Online viewers had the exclusive opportunity to not only see interviews with the performers and the live concert but to also purchase VIP packages for Fleetwood Mac’s upcoming fall tour, apparel from Mick’s restaurant and music venue, ‘Fleetwood’s’ on Front Street, and to win several one-of-a-kind items autographed by members of the bands. Review: Mick Fleetwood Blues Band - Solana Beach, CA livestream event

Mick Fleetwood Blues Band Featuring Rick Vito
Belly Up Tavern - Solana Beach, CA - June 10, 2014

The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band came alive last night via livestream direct from Solana Beach, CA, the second night at the Belly Up. The livestream of the second show provided by Suretonelive and Cinsay and broadcast world wide online in HD via suretonelive.com and Fleetwood's on Front St. Facebook Page was an exceptionally well produced event with superb visuals and sound.  The online event kicked off about an hour before the show began with Carl Stubner, Chairman of Suretone Entertainment, who has worked with Mick for over 21 years, speaking about how the livestream came together, giving a bit of history on Mick and the Belly Up Tavern and interviewing Mick, Rick and a number of other key people involved who have helped put together this project, a first ever for Suretonelive.

The show was filmed from every angle imaginable by an 8 camera setup which really gave you more than a fly on the wall experience, and I would argue was even better than being in the venue itself. Cameras seemed to be roaming all over the venue and stage capturing the group from every angle possible from up close to wide angle shots of the whole stage. It was really well choreographed as you hardly caught a glimpse of the other cameras unless deliberately shown.  The livestream player was interesting too... during the show, right from within the video player, you could purchase VIP Fleetwood Mac tickets for this fall or Fleetwood's on Front St. merchandise and they also had give-a-ways of the Rumours 2LP/CD Box set for tweeting out the hashtag #MFBBlive. If you shared the live show from the Fleetwood's on Front St. Facebook page to your own page you were entered to win tickets to one of Fleetwood Mac's shows in your city.

The show itself was over two hours long and uninterrupted. Just great music from Mick Fleetwood and his Blue Band featuring Rick Vito... Rick is amazing live! Lot's of energy! What a showman and guitar player. Mick of course is always fun to watch and listen to. He never disappoints. Mick spoke a few times during the course of the show thanking everyone online and at the venue for being there and seemed really excited that he was involved in the first ever livestream music event put on by suretonelive. He said hello to his 97 year old Mother who was at Fleetwood's restaurant on Maui watching the live feed.  Filling out the Blues Band were Lenny Castellanos and Mark Johnstone, who brought much to the sound of the group and were grooving right along with Mick and Rick. Visually, the show was stunning to watch online. The lighting was colourful and it was clear... The sound, if you had great speakers connected was perfect!  They really did do a great job with this livestream and apparently from what they said just prior to the show, it really wasn't planned that far in advance and it all came together rather quickly... So well done to both Suretonelive and Cinsay for bringing the musical experience to the people who couldn't be there!  And thanks to Mick, Rick and the band for a really entertaining night.

One for the history books! Ex Fleetwood Mac Member Christine McVie Performs Live - 1st Time in 15 Years!

Well this hasn't happened in oh... 15 YEARS!!

Christine McVie Performing Live
with The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band

It was 15 years ago this month that Christine McVie last performed live professionally in front of an audience when she appeared with her band Fleetwood Mac and accepted the "Outstanding Contribution To Music" award at the 1998 Brit Awards in London and closed out the show with "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop". (The band later appeared on a German TV program and performed Silver Springs, but we won't count that as they were lip-syncing). That was the last time we saw Christine on stage!

So fast forward 15 years later, while on vacation visiting with Mick on Maui, Christine joins Mick and his Blues Band at Castle Theater at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center along with Rick Vito, Steven Tyler and Mark Johnstone.  Over the last few days there has been some buzz that this was going to happen, but you never really know for sure it's going to happen until it happens, especially with anything Fleetwood Mac related.

I'm not sure what the set was, or what Christine played and sang, if it was just a few songs, one song or the full show... Obviously it was blues based.. But in any case it's so great to see her up there on stage... it's like the last 15 years have been wiped away.

Thanks to Suzanne Kayian and Lisa Homer for the pics!

Q&A WITH MICK FLEETWOOD AND RICK VITO

Q&A: THE MICK FLEETWOOD BLUES BAND FT. RICK VITO
BY LAUREN TABAK
Rhapsody.com

The 2010 Grammys were a splendid time. We here at Rhapsody HQ headed down to Los Angeles for the event, where we had the opportunity to interview one cool pop star after another. The coolest of them all just might’ve been Mick Fleetwood, whose album Blue Again, recorded with guitarist Rick Vito, was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Wait a minute. Did you say Mick Fleetwood? The blues?

That’s right. Long before “Rhiannon” and Stevie Nicks’ sexy-witch dance, the legendary drummer served time backing some of the great musicians in the British blues scene, including John Mayall. In fact, the Mac actually started life as a hardcore electric blues band, featuring Peter Green, mercurial guitarist and No. 1 rival of Eric Clapton. So yeah, Mick has kind of come full circle as of late.

We were lucky enough to sit down with both Mick and Rick, who gave us the scoop on Blue Again -- plus lots more on the blues, Peter Green and the long, tangled history of Fleetwood Mac.

ALICE COOPER SPEAKS ABOUT HIS NEW YEARS GIG WITH MICK FLEETWOOD

Alice Cooper takes to the airwaves
Maui News

On Maui for the holidays, Alice just rang in the New Year at Mala Wailea at a benefit show which also featured an incendiary performance by the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, joined by British blues legend John Mayall, and members of Nickelback.

"It's become a tradition to do that show, and it's always great to turn something like that into a charity event," he notes. "These people are here already, so why not put them to work."

Backed by Mick Fleetwood on drums, Rick Vito on guitar and vocals, bassist Lenny Castellanos, keyboardist Mark Johnstone, and Eric Gilliom and Gretchen Rhodes of Island Rumours on vocals, Alice belted out his classic hits "Schools Out" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy."

"Mick Fleetwood is such a great drummer," he continues. "You forget Fleetwood Mac was a real rock band and he was one of the best drummers out there, and Rick's a great blues guitar player. And then you have John Mayall come up, how great is that?"

Featured artist Vito was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1987 until 1991, when he left for a solo career. His single "Desiree" debuted and peaked at No. 36 on the March 7, 1992, Mainstream Rock chart.
