MS MAC IS BACK Interview with Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie via BASCA The Works Magazine

It's here... Christine McVie's interview with The Works, the magazine of BASCA - British Academy of Songwriters, Composers & Authors.

Interview by Darren Haynes

Check out the interview in The Works Magazine online at BASCA.org

Really great interview.  Christine talks about her Lifetime Achievement Award she received... About songwriting, collaborating with Lindsey Buckingham. The new Fleetwood Mac album, co-writing with Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac's World Tour. Here's one nugget of info for the UK:

"According to Christine McVie (with a caveat to stand corrected if she's wrong) the band is booked to add a European leg to their world tour. This will coincide with the release of the new album.

I think we're doing four nights at The O2 around Spring time next year, you know April around that kind of date. If I'm wrong on that, then I'm gonna get hung drawn and quartered".

Thank you to Darren Haynes and BASCA for including Fleetwoodmacnews.com in your interview piece.

Here is the audio from the presentation of Christine's Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ivors. The link is part of the interview piece in The Works magazine... I missed it the first time around.

New Stevie Nicks album sound bite No.3 from @DaveStewart... Plus Stevie's rockin' out in the studio.

Studio Chaos as usual
Again.... Mystery to me right off the bat!  Name that track!  Whatever it is, it sounds heavy and it's bangin'!
And Stevie's having a good time! 12 songs mixed... 4 more to go... 16 Tracks!!  The only words I can hear are "I would follow you anywhere... " and "How do I care" at the end.

I'll admit it.. This one has had me stumped! I can hear it now... It is the song "24 Karat Gold" Stevie is singing "You like my 24 karat gold... chains... My Love"  Sounds so good! What do you think?

ON THIS DAY: Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" and "Dreams" both No.1 on U.S. Billboard Charts

On June 18, 1977 "Dreams" the second single released from "Rumours" topped Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart in it's 10th week of release.

The track written by Stevie Nicks, debuted on the Hot 100 on April 16, 1977 and spent 19 weeks in total on the chart logging 7 weeks in the top 10 and 4 weeks in the top 5. This is Fleetwood Mac's only No.1 single in the U.S.

While "Dreams" topped the singles chart, the album "Rumours" was firmly sitting at No.1 for a 7th non-consecutive week. The week following "Dreams" reaching the No.1 position, "Rumours" was certified 3x platinum in the U.S. signifying shipments of 3 million units. This is massive for an album released only 4 months prior. Within a year, "Rumours" would sell 8.2 million copies in the U.S. and would go on to eventually be certified 19 x platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA where it stands today. Worldwide sales are reported to be over 45 million.
