Lindsey Buckingham reaps what he sows...

By: Tom Lanham

Fans can argue the point till the cows come home. But the cold, hard truth of the matter is that Lindsey Buckingham has always been — and continues to be — the real brains and heartbeat behind Fleetwood Mac.

Want proof?

Look no further than “Tusk,” the band’s inventive 1979 two-disc set, wherein Buckingham followed his punk rock muse and tracked his own songs in his DIY home studio before returning to band sessions to oversee the other members’ material. So it’s no surprise that the Grammy-winning guitarist has returned to his old atavistic ways with “Seeds We Sow,” his new sixth solo album that streets on Sept. 6.

For “Seeds,” Buckingham took DIY to its ultimate zenith. He not only wrote and performed every note of the record himself, he produced and mixed it all, as well.

A first single, “In Our Own Time,” is already on the way. Even cooler? We can claim the guy as one of our own. Long before he and his Buckingham Nicks partner Stevie Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac and went on to sell over 100 million albums, then flew solo with 1981’s surreal “Law And Order” debut, he hailed from Palo Alto.

Recently, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer received a coveted Les Paul Award, plus ASCAP’s Golden Note Award. And he’s also launching a 31-city North American tour, which hits San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom on Oct. 19.

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham to release sixth solo album in September

Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham will release his sixth solo album on September 5.

The first single to be taken from the LP is titled 'In Our Time'. Other tracks on the album include 'Ilumination', 'One Take', 'End Of Time', 'When She Comes Down' and 'When She Smiles Sweetly'.

Buckingham has also announced that he will undertake a full US tour to coincide with the release, with 31 dates booked for the autumn. He has not, as yet, scheduled any European tour dates.

The guitarist's bandmate Stevie Nicks has previously confirmed that Fleetwood Mac will tour in 2012, after she and Buckingham have finished promoting their solo material.
