1st Weeks Album Sales so far... Stevie Nicks 'In Your Dreams'

We know Adele will be No.1, that's a given... But where will Nicks end up debuting this week on the charts... The suspense is killing me.

Hits Daily Double gives the most accurate account [I think] of what numbers are being sold in the Top 50 and where they eventually end up placing on the big Billboard Top 200 Album Chart...

So far 36.20% of retailers have reported... and Nicks is No.5 with 16,874. This will obviously change and the final tally may not be known until tomorrow...  Early predictions had her selling 40-45k the first week.

Fleetwood Mac's Rumours is at No. 21 with 7,373 so far in sales...

Among the whirlwind of lyrical perfection found in Stevie Nicks’ new record is the blissfully-nostalgic track “For What It’s Worth,” where she coos of a rock star life only an icon like Nicks could have lived: “I got to sing, I got to dance, I got to be a part of the great romance…” The stories of her loves and tumultuous relationships are legendary, and resulted in some of music’s most memorable and well-known songs.

In Your Dreams – Nicks’ first studio album in a decade – is a classic addition to this magical catalog, and may be her finest solo effort to date.

Produced almost entirely by the Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, Nicks’ seventh studio album is a return to a musical consistency not heard from since the Jimmy Iovine-produced Bella Donna, released nearly 30 years ago. Vocally she soars, with her voice having adopting a rich huskiness that growls and croons throughout the record. The new register has benefited Nicks, most notably on the love ballad “Italian Summer,” which features some of the finest vocals of her career.

'Rumours' has it....

Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" may re-enter the Billboard tally next week, thanks to the power of Fox's "Glee".  The TV series dedicated its entire May 3rd episode to the 1977 No. 1 album.  The Cast performed six of the set's 11 songs, while a seventh album track was heard in its original form as background music.  Early sales projections from industry sources suggest "Rumours" could move around 20,000 copies in the US in the week ending May 8th, which could place it among the top 30 on the billboard 200 next week.

The reunion of Fleetwood Mac’s classic lineup in 1997 was such a big deal that some people might have temporarily forgotten about singer Stevie Nicks’ solo career. After all, so many of her biggest hits (including “Dreams,” “Rhiannon” and “Landslide”) came during her time with Fleetwood Mac. But Nicks had a thriving career away from Fleetwood Mac both while she was still in the band and in the years following, and solo hits like “Edge of Seventeen,” “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” (with Tom Petty) and “Stand Back” have stood the test of time just as strongly.

Now as Fleetwood Mac is on an extended hiatus, Nicks is finally back with her first solo album in 10 years, the just-released In Your Dreams. Dreams features collaborations with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Nicks’ Fleetwood Mac bandmate Mick Fleetwood. The album’s first single, “Secret Love,” was originally recorded as a demo for Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album Rumours, and has finally been fully produced and packaged for Nicks’ eager fans. The last time Nicks refurbished an old Fleetwood Mac song, it resulted in the 1997 Grammy-nominated hit “Silver Springs,” a single from the group’s live reunion album The Dance.

Nicks most recently toured with fellow rock veteran Rod Stewart, another Vegas favorite, but she’ll be on her own at The Colosseum. Although she’s shared the spotlight with plenty of talented peers over the years, being on her own is the perfect place for her right now.
