Fleetwood Mac Live 1977 Rumours Tour: "This is the holy grail for Mac fans"

Fleetwood Mac, “Rumors: Deluxe Anniversary Edition” (Warner Bros., three discs).

It’s certainly not news that Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” is a pop masterpiece, a high-water mark in the annals of ’70s California-based rock and pop. Very few self-respecting record collectors or rock historians would consider their collection complete without it. We all know the story of its creation – how the songs reflected the romantic turmoil within the band, as various relationships crumbled, principally the very torrid one between singer Stevie Nicks and guitarist/songwriter Lindsey Buckingham. What we may not know is what a fantastic live ensemble this particular lineup of Fleetwood Mac was. This new anniversary edition gives us a beautifully remastered version of the original album, with the inclusion of the revered outtake “Silver Springs” tacked on, and a whole disc’s worth of alternate versions and outtakes, too. But the grand prize is the full live concert from the 1977 “Rumors” world tour, which takes up a full disc. This is the holy grail for Mac fans, and makes the anniversary edition a must-have. 4 stars (Jeff Miers - The Buffalo News).

The Live component of the re-release can be streamed in it's entirety at Rolling Stone.

Despite tragedies, drug excesses and separations it Fleetwood Mac 1977 managed to take one of the most successful pop albums. Now the united band is back on tour and released anniversary edition is one of "Rumours". "Go Your Own Way" and "Dreams" - these sellers are selling the album "Rumours" publish 45 million times, although it appeared 36 years ago, Fleetwood Mac a "35th Anniversary Edition" with three albums (including session recordings and live recordings). As a blues band Fleetwood Mac 1967 have begun. After Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks got on and changed the sound toward Softpop and mainstream rock, came the great success. Even the album "Fleetwood Mac" could sit up, followed with "Rumours" then the climax: 31 weeks, the album was number one on the Billboard charts and received a Grammy. In the list of "500 greatest albums of all time" by the magazine "Rolling Stone" is "Rumours" in the top 30 During the recording there was the purest sense of chaos. Singer Stevie Nicks has compared the history of Fleetwood Mac with a soap opera: The marriage of Christine and John McVie was as broken as the relationship of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Drummer Mick Fleetwood was allegedly having an affair with Stevie Nicks. The well-known in an interview with "U.S. Magazine": "It was quite scandalous and incestuous." All these feelings dramas and separations were finally processed in the songs. The Canadian newspaper "The Globe and Mail" called "Rumours" even the "unofficial soundtrack to the distinctive culture". The History of Fleetwood Mac but is not over: The band, which was recorded in 1998 in the "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame", has reunited and goes on To urnee - to Germany. In October, she will be in Cologne, Stuttgart and Berlin - but without Christine McVie.

Fleeting glimpse of pre-sale Mac seats
Evening Times

FLEETWOOD Mac’s loyal fans who registered on a ticket presales site are furious after being offered only single seats for their Glasgow gig.

The band line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham will be among the first to grace the stage at new city venue The Hydro this autumn with their Rumours 35th anniversary tour.

Fans who had registered with the Hydro website were on wednesday given an early chance to get their hands on tickets but the pre-sale allocation quickly ran out.

Another pre-sale, held yesterday for people who had signed up to distributor Ticket Soup’s website, also saw the second allocation quickly snapped up as keen fans swooped.

Now anyone still chasing much-soughtafter tickets will have to hope they are lucky in the public sale which began this morning.

one disgruntled music lover from Glasgow, said: “I am signed up to and I had hoped to be able to get a pair of tickets in the presale on wednesday but all that was available was single seats … I am really disappointed.

“I thought that with a venue that has a 12,000 capacity and with such a high profile concert I would have been in with a good chance of landing them.”

Tickets for the concert, to be staged on october 3, range in price from £45 to £125.

The SECC confirmed that a certain amount were allocated to the pre-sales and some held back for today’s general release but they would not confirm how many were up for grabs on each day.

A spokeswoman said demand for tickets had been “very strong”

She added: “There were two pre sales – on wednesday and Thursday – and a general release today.

“The pre-sales were well advertised on our website.”

Fleetwood Mac last toured the UK in 2009 with the sold-out Unleashed Tour.

New venue the Hydro is due to open in September and the showcase event will have a Commonwealth Games theme to reflect the spor ts extravaganza which will get under way in Glasgow in the summer of next year.

Steven Tyler, Mick Fleetwood attend Hawaii hearing on celeb photo privacy bill

By: Anita Hofschneider, The Associated Press
HONOLULU (AP) — Rock legends Steven Tyler and Mick Fleetwood convinced a Hawaii Senate committee on Friday to approve a bill to protect celebrities or anyone else from intrusive paparazzi.

Associated Press/Oskar Garcia - Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, center, sits with his attorney Dina LaPolt, left, and Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood as they listen to testimony on a celebrity privacy

The state Senate Judiciary Committee approved the so-called Steven Tyler Act after the stars testified at a hearing, saying they want to fiercely protect the little privacy they have as public figures.

The bill would give people power to sue others who take photos or video of their private lives in an offensive way.

Tyler said he asked Sen. Kalani English to introduce the measure after paparazzi took a photo of Tyler and his girlfriend in his home, and it was published by a national magazine as part of a report saying the two were getting married.

"It caused a ripple in my family," Tyler told The Associated Press after the hearing. "I hadn't told anybody."
The Aerosmith frontman and former "American Idol" judge says his kids don't want to go out with him in Hawaii because of the threat of photographers who sometimes get on boats to take photos of him from the ocean.
"That's what they do, they are just constantly taking from us," Tyler said.

Fleetwood, the drummer from Fleetwood Mac, says he's gotten used to the constant attention but realizes that it's a "grim reality."

"The islands shouldn't represent this to people coming here," Fleetwood said.

Rhino / Warner Bros.; 1977/2013
By Jessica Hopper; February 8, 2013

Fleetwood Mac's Rumours would never be just an album. Upon its release in 1977, it became the fastest-selling LP of all time, moving 800,000 copies per week at its height, and its success made Fleetwood Mac a cultural phenomenon. The million-dollar record that took a year and untold grams to complete became a totem of 1970s excess, rock'n'roll at its most gloriously indulgent. It was also a bellwether of glimmering Californian possibility, the permissiveness and entitlement of the 70s done up in heavy harmonies. By the time it was made, the personal freedoms endowed by the social upheaval of the 60s had unspooled into unfettered hedonism. As such, it plays like a reaping: a finely polished post-hippie fallout, unaware that the twilight hour of the free love era was fixing and there would be no going back. In 1976, there was no knowledge of AIDS, Reagan had just left the governor's manse, and people still thought of cocaine as non-addictive and strictly recreational. Rumours is a product of that moment and it serves as a yardstick by which we measure just how 70s the 70s were.

Video: Fleetwood Mac Talks Tumultuous Past: “We All Paid A Price For That Emotionally”

by Kate Spencer

We had the nerve-wracking honor of sitting down with Fleetwood Mac recently and chatted with the iconic band about their upcoming tour and the re-issue of their album Rumours, which celebrated its 35th anniversary this week. Most interesting was the group’s willingness to discuss their torrid, rocky personal past with each other, which included break ups, make ups, affairs, drug abuse and lots of legendary songs about it all.

Never break the chain, guys. Never break the chain.

Rolling Stone France Dedicate 11 Pages To Fleetwood Mac - Feb, 2013 issue

First Rolling Stone in Germany had that amazing cover and spread in their February issue.... Now Rolling Stone France are doing the same - except no Mac cover - but 11 pages!  That's huge!!  I think Rolling Stone in North America needs to step up to the plate, put them on the cover for the 5th time and celebrate this years 35th Anniversary release.  The Buckingham Nicks Q&A appears to be the same Andy Greene interview with Stevie and Lindsey that ran on-line in North America and can be read here RollingStone

Look for the February, 2013 issue in France or anywhere else where french language magazines are sold... It's on newsstands now. Bono on the cover.
