Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks calls the whole #AmericanHorrorStory experience a "gift."

This post includes song spoilers so don't read it if you don't want to know
what Stevie will be singing on tonights show.

Stevie Nicks' music has been a part of hit series American Horror Story: Coven from the beginning, but Wednesday night's episode actually features an appearance by Stevie herself.  In addition to acting in the episode, she performs two songs, and the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman calls the whole experience a "gift."

American Horror Story: Coven focuses on a group of witches in New Orleans, and one of them, Misty Day, is obsessed with Stevie.  Since the singer was friendly with the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, from her visit to the set of his other series, Glee, she gave permission for him to use her music on Coven early on. And while Stevie tells ABC News Radio that she was initially a bit shocked at how dark this show is, she's been thrilled at how her music has been used to highlight Misty's personality.

"She listens to my music.  She looks at me as an adviser, as a person who makes her feel better when she's miserable," Stevie says of Misty. "She doesn't have any friends.  I'm her only friend. I got that immediately...And I love it, because a) I love the story, and b) she's gonna take my music to people who've never heard it.  I mean, that's a two-for-one for me!"

From there, it was only logical that Stevie herself would appear on the show.  On tonight's episode, according to Murphy, Stevie, playing herself, will be introduced to Misty by the head witch, Fiona, played by Jessica Lange.  But Stevie says she was shocked at first when she arrived on set and realized that she was actually being expected to, y'know, act.

"I thought I was just gonna do, like, a walk-through in a long black dress and really high heels...hair blowing, and I was just gonna walk through and go 'Good evening, witches! Lovely to see you!  Goodbye!'" laughs Stevie. "I thought I was just going to be like a vision that just came in and went out, in that big, beautiful white house.  Well, not so."

After realizing the extent of her involvement int he episode, Stevie says she was "very nervous" at the prospect of sharing scenes with Jessica Lange.  "I'm not good at remembering lines," she explains. "I can remember songs that I wrote, because I wrote 'em, but I'm not good at remembering stuff.  So, I was terrified I wasn't going to be able to do it."  But, she says, "When we got in there...they just throw their arms around you.  And they make it as easy for you as possible."

As for the singing, Stevie performs "Rhiannon," and "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You?"  "The songs...fit right into Ryan and [co-creator] Brad [Falchuk's] crazy twisted story," she laughs. "It was really fun for me because I felt like I got to do my own little mini concert, and they were all my captive audience...they couldn't move, y'know? They had to be!"

Overall, Stevie tells ABC News Radio, she loved the experience. "I feel a part of that house now, and I feel a part of them.  And it's really, it's really marvelous.  It's really been a gift for me to have been asked to do this," she says.

Despite appearing in the episode, Stevie still hasn't seen it yet, and she plans to watch it tonight, just like all of us, except she's going to watch it after she finishes up her last concert -- for quite a while, anyway -- with Fleetwood Mac.

"Right when I walk on stage is right when it comes on," she tells ABC News Radio. "So I'm flying from Phoenix to Las Vegas, doing our very last Fleetwood Mac show, and then flying back...so I'll watch the show at about three in the morning."  Sounds about right for a show as dark and creepy as American Horror Story: Coven.  It airs tonight on FX.

Australia and UK... Coven airs on Jan 13th and Jan 14th in your countries.

@StevieNicks eager to see her #AHS gig + (Spoiler) tonights two songs revealed

Stand back, Stevie Nicks fans: The legendary songstress makes her much-anticipated appearance on “American Horror Story: Coven” at 9 p.m. Wednesday on FX.

The longtime Fleetwood Mac rocker, famous for her singular voice, signature shawls and onstage twirls, has a guest-starring gig on this season’s 10th episode, titled “The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks.”

In the show, swamp witch Misty Day (Lily Rabe) is obsessed with the real-life rocker. Misty gets to meet her idol when Fiona (Jessica Lange) invites Nicks to the young witches’ New Orleans home.

Nicks talked about her “AHS” debut during a phone interview Tuesday from her house in Phoenix. Nicks hasn’t seen the episode yet; she wants to be surprised when she watches it later that night after performing a concert in Vegas with Fleetwood Mac.

“I’ll be walking around telling everybody, ‘If you've seen it, don’t tell me what happens — or I’ll have to put a spell on you,’ ” Nicks said.

Q. You became friends with “AHS” and “Glee” co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk when “Glee” did a Fleetwood Mac episode. What did you think when they asked you to be on “AHS?”

A. In my stupid mind I’m thinking I’ll wear a long black dress and walk through the beautiful white house and just say, “Hello witches!” and keep on going.

Q. Were you nervous?

A. My assistant read the script out loud to me and at the end I’m like, “They do know I’m not an actress, right?” I didn’t sleep too good that night. I was seriously worried I was going to suck. ... I just said, “Stevie, you’re going to have to focus and listen to what they say. Listen to your director Alfonso [GomezRejon], who’s amazing, and listen to all the girls. They’re going to help you.”

Q. You perform two songs in the show. Did you pick them?

A. They decided everything. I was pretty sure ‘Rhiannon’ would be in it. It’s Misty’s anthem. It’s Stevie’s anthem. I was really glad because that’s probably the only song I sit and play whenever I walk into a hotel that has a piano. I hadn’t played piano in eight or nine months. I’m like, ‘Not only am I going to be terrible at reciting lines but I’m going to make lots of mistakes on the piano because I haven’t played in so long.’ I didn’t [make mistakes], actually. I was even able to look up once in a while. It was pretty great.

Q. Are you worried your appearance on the show will resurrect the witch rumors that have dogged you for so long?

A. No. Everybody is smart enough to know that I wore black for one reason. Why do we all wear black? Because it makes you look skinnier, of course. When Ryan asked me, he knew about all [the rumors]. He said, “I know you kind of had a problem with it.” I said I don’t have a problem with it. I am a) not a witch and b) even if I was a witch, it’s my life. I’m 65 years old and I can do anything I want. I’m not going to not do stuff because there might be a crazy little bunch of wacko fans out there that are going to take it the wrong way.

Q. You hadn’t seen previous seasons of “AHS” when they first asked to use your music. What did you think when you saw this season’s premiere?

A. I’ve never been to a horror show in my life, ever. When I saw the first episode I was a little shocked, honestly. I was like, ‘Oh my God, if my mom was still alive, what would she say?’

Q. Why did you let them use your songs in the show?

A. They basically told me my music was needed because there was a character who was a witch that wasn’t part of the coven, who lived out in the swamp and basically heals people and animals and was really nice. She had no friends, no family. My songs were like her go-to self-help book. That’s how I hope my songs will affect everybody — the same way they affect Misty in the show. So I was thrilled. Misty was going to singlehandedly take my music to a whole new generation of people who probably never heard of Fleetwood Mac or me. That’s that age-14 to age-40 group. What a gift that is for me as a writer to know that my music would be picked up by a whole other generation of young people.

Q. You give Misty your shawl in the episode. Did you give anything to the actress, (Northwestern alum) Lily Rabe, who’s a big fan of your music in real life?

A. I did give Lily a really beautiful black skirt and velvet jacket that is just fantasmagorical. I just made that word up. She has done me a huge favor by being that girl that takes on my spirit and sends that music out into the world to a whole other generation. There is no greater gift. I thought a beautiful black outfit was the least I could do for Lily Rabe. She lost her mom [actress Jill Clayburgh] not very long ago, one year before I lost my mom. When I wrote her the note that went with her outfit I said, ‘I know you lost your mom and so did I. I’m around if you need me.’ We’ll probably be friends forever.

Q. Television can entail long hours on the set. Was it tiring?

A. [My routine is] I go into makeup at 5, I go on stage at 8, I come off at 11. I change, get in an airplane, fly to the next city and order room service. This is my life. By the time we got through six or seven hours and they’re like, ‘One more time,’ I’m like, ‘Are you insane? Again?’ Sixteen hours in, I thought I was going to turn into the old crone witch any second. I’d been wearing my high-heeled Stevie boots all day long. I couldn’t have been more tired if I tried.

Q. Would you do it again?

A. This is a step into a whole other world for me. It does not mean that I want to be an actress. It means that there are other things out there for me to do beside just touring and just singing. I look forward to seeing what happens to me after this. I feel like this is going to change my life in a lot of really good ways. It’s proven to people I can step out of the mold.

Before we hung up, Nicks asked how we were coping with the brutal cold in Chicago. Her parents lived here for three years in the late ’60s while she was in college.

“It was the only move I didn’t make with them,” the Arizona native said. “I went there when they were looking for a house. It was so damn cold I said I don’t think I can live there. And I love Chicago.”“I know you guys are suffering,” she added. “I just want you to know I’m blowing hot wind toward you.”

INTERVIEW: Stevie Nicks tells-all about joining #AmericanHorrorStory #FleetwoodMac

LEGENDARY singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks called into Naughty But Nice Rob to talk EXCLUSIVELY about her much anticipated appearance on tomorrow’s episode of American Horror Story: Coven! See what she had to say below:
Naughtybutnickerob.com
by Naughty But Nice Ricky

Hello Stevie! Tell us about Stevie Nicks on AHS: Coven!
“I haven’t seen it yet! I’m going to be on stage in Vegas when it comes on. I’m flying from Phoenix to Vegas for the last Fleetwood Mac show, then flying back to Phoenix. It will be 2 in the morning before I watch it. But I like to see the show the day it goes out in the world. I want to see it with everyone else. I still want to see it that night.  I feel the same way about my music. The first time it goes out is when the public hears it, it’s a spiritual experience with the people.”

Well, we are beyond ecstatic to hear that you are joining the cast of AHS: Coven. What was it like joining the cast?
“Incredible! I didn’t meet Angela (Bassett) or Sarah (Paulson) but I did get to meet Kathy (Bates) on second day. I flew back with Kathy and got to spend more real 1 on 1 time . We flew from New Orleans to LA way after midnight, which was a 5 hr flight, on a very strange plane I’ve never flown before. It was a perfect end to my horror story experience.

The whole experience was a little crazy. I met all the young girls, and worked with Jessica…trying to explain it, I’ve never done anything like it before. I did “Up All Night” with Christina Applegate which was very funny, because funny people come up with funny stuff around every sentence. But this is very deep, because it’s a very complex story.”

How was working with Jessica Lange?
“Just to watch Jessica Lange work blew my mind. By the time you’re done with every scene it’s been hours, so you’d assume I got to know Jessica. Well, I don’t know how well I know Jessica Lange, but I sure know Fiona. And you’re afraid of her. You know that she’s the CEO, President of the Company, Head Witch. There’s no doubt when she walks into the room that you know who she is. (Lange) does not drop her character.”

What made you decide to do AHS: COVEN?
“You know, I’ve never been to a real horror movie. No, I didn’t want to carry around in my consciousness. This is a story about misfits. Just like “GLEE” is like misfits. I relate to misfits. I’ve been very successful as a misfit. I would have been one of those weird “GLEE” kids. I’m super blessed to be thrown into this amazing story, in its own way this is its own type of fairytale. Everyone was so supportive and loving! ”

What can we expect from your “character”?
“I’m playing Stevie Nicks. I’m me. So get ready. It’s really exciting, and I feel like I have a whole other world I’ve moved into in a way. I’ve done thousands of tours, sold millions of records…but this is a totally new experience.”

Due to the capsulized nature of the show, would you consider joining a future season? Or perhaps come to television in another capacity?
“I don’t know. I didn’t know what this really was until I watched the first episode in Paris. I would have to know what it’s going to be, but the doors are all open here. It’s been such a great experience that I don’t know why I wouldn’t want to do this again. I haven’t seen the episode yet, so after tomorrow I’ll let you know.”

My life is changed. What a wonderful woman. Check out the all NEW episode of American Horror Story: Coven on FX tomorrow, January, 8th!

Stevie Nicks to Katy Perry "Remember sweetheart, you have no rivals"

Stevie Nicks’ Advice to Katy Perry Revealed
By now the world knows about the blossoming friendship between Katy Perry and Stevie Nicks.

Last week, during a Fleetwood Mac concert, the lead singer dedicated the band’s classic song “Landslide” to Perry and her boyfriend John Mayer, who were in the audience.

Recently Nicks opened up to ABC News Radio about first meeting the younger singer and the advice she gave her about navigating pop stardom in this day and age.

The connection between Nicks and Perry goes back to 2011, when the rock legend provided the narration for Perry’s video “The One that Got Away.” But the two only actually met for the first time this past fall, when they were both in London for performances.

“I met her after her rehearsal at 11:30 [at the hotel],” Nicks told ABC News Radio. “I thought it was going to be a 20 minute, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ thing — and we sat for three hours until, like, three in the morning. And we pretty much talked about everything.”

What Nicks found most interesting, though, was when Perry asked her about her solo career, which started in 1981 with the release of the album Bella Donna.

“She said to me, ‘So when you did Bella Dona who were your rivals?’” Nicks told ABC News Radio. “And I was, like, speechless. I was, like, ‘I didn’t have any rivals.’ And she said, ‘Really? None?’ I said, ‘No…the girls in Heart [were] friends. Pat Benatar [was a] friend.”

When Nicks asked Perry if she had rivals, the pop star replied, “Well, it’s not us. It’s the Internet.”

She then told Nicks about the way that fans of various female pop stars will sometimes pit one against the other in ways the singers themselves don’t condone.

“I said to her, ‘Katy, let me tell you something. You don’t have any rivals. So forget that. Never say that word again,’” Nicks told ABC News Radio. “‘You don’t have rivals. All of those girls? Friends. You’ll probably work with all of them at some point. Friends.’”

ABC News

So that's what Stevie meant in her dedication to Katy in Las Vegas on December 30th. I was confused by that at first.  This explains it.
"And remember sweet heart, you have no rivals".

Interview: Stevie Nicks on 'In Your Dreams' American Horror Story #AHS Fleetwood Mac and John McVie

Stevie Nicks Is Still On Hyperdrive
An interview with the hard-working Fleetwood Mac frontwoman
by Alanna Nash, AARP

Stevie Nicks — lead singer and co-writer of Fleetwood Mac — is on a multimedia tear. After a sold-out world tour this year she's just released the DVD In Your Dreams (a visual bookend to her acclaimed 2011 solo album of the same name), and she's drawing new fans through her guest appearance on the hit show American Horror Story, which airs early next year. She slowed down long enough to answer our questions about the seemingly timeless appeal of her music.

In Your Dreams Available at Amazon

Q: You're a very private person, but In Your Dreams was filmed in your home.

A: I had two good reasons for allowing that. First, Dave [Stewart, of the Eurythmics] said to me, "I think this
album is going to be really magic. We should film it."

"Are you kidding?" I asked him. "That means I'll have to wear makeup and get dressed every day."

Dave said, "Yeah, you may have to wear a little makeup, but I know how to shoot women — I've been doing it since Annie Lennox. And I use cameras that film in soft light, so we won't have to change the ambiance [of your home]. And if you don't like it, no one will ever see it."

Second, I started thinking about the Tom Petty documentary Runnin' Down a Dream, where you get to see the Traveling Wilburys — and then, in the blink of an eye, two of them [Roy Orbison and George Harrison] are gone. So I thought, "We don't live forever — let's do this!"

Photo by: Geert Van de Velde
Q: Fleetwood Mac had to cancel the Australia and New Zealand legs of the tour so bass player John McVie could undergo cancer treatment.

A: Yes, but he's doing well. He's going to have a little operation in January, but he'll come through with flying colors. There's nothing wimpy about John.

Q: We're at that age where issues of vulnerability crop up.

A: Well, I lost my godson to an overdose of Xanax and alcohol at a frat party two years ago, three weeks before my mom died. And I see a lot of young people heading down a bad road, so I'm much more worried about their mortality rate than mine. It makes me realize life is precious, and that I need to keep in contact with all my friends.

Q: You're doing a longer concert set than you ever have. How do you stay healthy?

A: I do Weight Watchers and take a lot of vitamins, but I don't really work out — unless you count dancing around the house and the hotel room. We're always doing shows — those are my workout. If I have a day off, I stay in bed: I make myself a hot-water bottle and some tea, and I don't move.

Q: Fleetwood Mac's classic album, Rumours, turned 36 in 2013. Why does our generation — and the next few, apparently — love that record so much?

A: When you listen to those songs, you don't feel like you're listening to old music. A 16-year-old girl can listen to "Gold Dust Woman" and go, "Oh — that's me."

Q: And now you're going to be on American Horror Story.

A: Yes! I think that happened because I got into the Glee tribe when they did the episode on Fleetwood Mac. I don't usually watch horror, but this is a great way to take my music to a whole other generation of kids. My niece told me, "I've lived in your world my whole life — now you're coming into mine."
Q: You hadn't acted since your fourth-grade school play. What was the experience like?

A: I'm no Katharine Hepburn, but I did the best I could. I told [producer] Ryan Murphy, "I don't want my tombstone to read, 'Great songwriter, lousy actress.' So if I'm that bad, just take me out."

I loved meeting Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates and all the girls, and I'm excited about my role, which is a crazy one — I play myself, and then some! I think people will be surprised. I can't tell you more than that, because it's a total secret society; anyone who breathes a word of what's going on could disappear.

Q: The way you dress on stage fits perfectly into American Horror Story.

A: Yes, when Lily Rabe walks away and you see her hair — and the skirt, and the shawl, and the boots — there's no doubt that looks like me.

Q: Young girls have started showing up at concerts rocking your look. Is it fun to appeal to them?

A: It is. I created that look in 1976. The first year I went on tour with Fleetwood Mac, I took just my street clothes. We had no money, so I never ate; then I quickly gained 10 pounds, and nothing fit. So when I got home I went to designer Margi Kent and said, "Listen, I just want a handkerchiefy skirt, and a leotard, and a little riding jacket, and some black platform boots, and a chiffon scarf, and I want you to make three sets of those. That's going to be my uniform."

As we went along, we added some ponchos. I found the top hat in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1978. The skirts came up, the skirts came down, but my basic look is exactly the same as ever. I always said, "I want to wear this outfit at 28, but I also want to be able to wear it at 60." Not in a million years did I believe I'd still be wearing it at 60! But I'm proud if I created a fashion statement.

Q: According to the In Your Dreams documentary, love has no age limit.

A: None at all! I believe that I could meet my great love at 70. I just have to run into the right person. People tweet, text, email and Facebook, but they don't sit in the same room and deal with each other face to face. That really bothers me. It makes me think, "Well, you'll never meet anybody." But I've felt that way before, then walked around the corner and looked into the eyes of somebody who would become one of my great loves.

When you're not looking is when people show up. So if it happens, great, and if it doesn't, that's OK; I'm a creative person, and I fill my world with creativity.

Chart Updates: Fleetwood Mac back at No.1 in Australia. Stevie Nicks has a 4th week on DVD Chart

This week around the world we see the usual suspects charting on the main charts - all hits packages from the 1992 4CD box set "25 Years - The Chain" (reissued in 2012) to Fleetwood Mac's 2002 2CD "The Very Best Of".  Stevie's new DVD "In Your Dreams" is still going strong on the top 40 hanging on for a 4th week and Rumours appears once on the UK Catalogue Albums chart where I think it's taken up permanent residency.  I still find it impressive that any of these albums appear on any charts given the glut of new music out there and the age of some of these Fleetwood Mac titles. Just goes to show the testament of good quality music.
