Fleetwood Mac hit the road | Showbiz | Express.co.uk

First of all... no need to panic, nothings been announced yet.

Second.... Three interesting points this article makes:

  1. Reforming for a series of concerts prior to a world tour next year?
  2. Possibly releasing new material for a proposed greatest hits release?
  3. This may be the end of the road for the band?

SUPERGROUP Fleetwood Mac are planning a world tour next year after reforming for a series of concerts following months of wrangling between drummer Mick Fleetwood and singer Stevie Nicks.

The rock giants are hitting the road to mark the 45th anniversary of the release of the band’s first album, with a different line-up, in 1968.

Singer Stevie Nicks has agreed to reunite with Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. British singer Christine McVie is not expected to sign up.

Last night a spokesman for Nicks confirmed plans for the tour: “It’s certainly looking that way. I don’t have specifics yet.”

The group may even record new material for a proposed greatest hits release.

A source in Los Angeles said: “The Fleetwood Mac tour is on. This may be the end of the road for them after so many great years. They are all older and getting together can be a struggle with their commitments. They all want to go out on a bang.”

Ok, I'm REALLY hoping they change up their setlist more this time around. Would love to hear them do Sisters Of The Moon, something from Buckingham Nicks and whatever new material they record. If the setlist is near identical to when they toured in 2009, then I won't be able to justify spending the money on the tickets even though I adore them.

They need to give up on any form of Greatest Hits nonsense as it's just another way to get money from fans who already own a gazillion copies of everything. It's ridiculous. If it's not a full record or EP then they shouldn't be on tour at all.

This band has a great back catalog but with just SN & LB on board they can only rest on laurels for so long before it becomes stale which is has. The sound is practically dead without CM in the mix anyway.

It's all or nothing at this point.

NEW EP!

Don't ever break up/stop.

I would only buy another Greatest Hits if it were a) an actual fully inclusive set with EVERY single, popular or not, great album cuts and extras, a DVD with all their music videos, a nice booklet and b) at least five or six brand new tracks.

Also, it's high time 'Mirage' and 'Tango...' get the same remastering treatment 'FM,' 'Rumours,' and 'Tusk' received.

As for a tour, I would be perfectly content with this being Fleetwood Mac's final outing. I love the band, have since I was five years old, but it's time. This means Stevie can spend her remaining good years on her own solo career. I want another solo Stevie record before she calls it quits.

When the MAC tours in 2013, I would rather hear 98% of there hit songs, Those songs made the MAC, And I know fans would rather hear Stevie and Lindsey play there hit songs, When you set out on your world tour in 2013 come back to Florida, You have a ton of fans here !

End of the road for the Mac? That has as much credibility as the fight between Nicki and Mariah. Although I don't think this publicity stunt will garner as much media buzz as the latter. If they REALLY want media buzz, Christine will have to agree to tour.

If this is it, then I hope that Christine McVie goes along with them for one last round.

If they put out another greatest hits it's just a reason to record only a few new songs to include on it in hopes of an actual hit or two. They aren't willing to do a whole album together. And who knows, maybe they can muster up a couple of hits. As for the tour, another greatest hits tour is fine with me, they certainly have enough hits. And yes it would be great for Stevie to sing Sisters Of The Moon, or Angel, or Straight Back or Fireflies. How about if she and Lindsey sing I Don't Want To Know, now that would be cool.

Christine has already confirmed on her Twitter that she will not be touring.

She just posted days ago: "No plans to tour. Sorry folks."

^^^ It was determined that is a fake Christine twitter account!

I just hope that they come to Ireland in that World Tour

Agree, would love to see this tour include some songs we haven't seen in ages, Sisters of the Moon being #1. Another greatest hits album though? Really?

I sincerely hope this isn't the end of Fleetwood Mac... Surely not?!?!

Everyone wants to hear "hits." It is GREAT to hear material that put the band into the spotlight. However, how many more times do we have to hear "Go Your Own Way," "Dreams," or "The Chain?" These songs are timeless and will always hold a special place with people. I understand that majority of the public wants to hear the commercial material opposed to something new or adventurous. This only displays a narrow mindset. Let them do what they want!

It's heartbreaking to realize that this is most likely the end of the road for them. I wish they could go another 20+ years! No one wants to hear they are over :( It's devastating!

So Christine doesn't want to tour. Christine can certainly record new music. Guest appearances are also in order, wink!

Still hope it WON'T happen!!!!!
Keeping my fingers crossed...

They need to drop this nonsense RIGHT NOW and get into the studio to record the positive-negative, past/present/backwards-forwards that is FLEETWOOD MAC. Another GREAT RECORD, please. And on that's about 10 songs, just to set parameters. The songs can be long but ONLY 10 songs. I think both Stevie and Lindsey are up to this. And I want POP HITS!!!!!

I, personally, think it would be really weird for Stevie (with her current voice and age) to try and write/record another "Gypsy" or "Dreams." Those days are over. Personally, I *LOVED* "Say You Will." It was heavier, darker, and more cinematic than anything else they had done.

Fleetwood Mac has given us almost 40 years of music, it's time to let them go off in the sunset. Stevie can still sell records, which was obvious with "In Your Dreams" and she seems SO much more fulfilled doing her solo work. Without Christine, Fleetwood Mac will never be the same.

I disagree, I think Stevie's absolutely capable of creating another 'Gypsy' or 'Dreams'. Her voice has changed, yes - but it's far more fitting for a song like 'Edge of Seventeen' or 'Stand Back'. Stevie still has the ability to make a song and make it a number 1 hit.

But I agree, FM isn't the same without Christine and she definitely should contribute to the new album/songs!! I hope that they use Ken Callait's idea and finish the outtakes from Christine's 'In the Meantime' album (Stevie/Lindsey adding backing vocals and Lindsey/John & Mick re-recording the instruments), then that would be the first Rumours line-up song since 'Steal Your Heart Away' or 'Bleed to Love Her'.

Christine was going to join the rest of the band on stage in 2003, but changed her mind at the last minute. Here's hoping this time around she does!
